! Placing the speaker system
The best surround effect will be achieved by placing each speaker at the same distance from the listening position. It is recommended to arrange the speakers as shown below.
Notes:
" Place the TV halfway between the front speakers. " It is recommended that the centre speaker be placed near the television. " Place the surround speakers at a position just above the height of your ears. " The subwoofer vibrates whilst reproducing bass. Place it on a stable, sturdy sur-
face.
" The bass sound from the subwoofer is non-directional, however, it is recom-
mended to place it as close as left and right speakers.
! Magnetically shielded speakers
The front and centre speakers may be placed beside or near the TV as they are magnetically shielded. However, discolouration may occur depending on the TV type.
If colour variation occurs...
Turn of f the TV (with the power switch). After 15 - 30 minutes, turn the TV on again.
If the colour variation is still present...
Move the speakers further away from the TV. Refer to the manual of the TV for details.
Note:
The surround speakers and subwoofer are not magnetically shielded.
Note:
If speakers cannot be placed at equal distances, refer to "Speaker delay time setting" (see page 43).

Adjusting speaker delay time/speaker level
When speakers cannot be placed at equal distances, change speaker settings to enjoy surround effects as if they were equally placed.
Example:
If the centre speaker is closer to the listening position than others by about 90 cm, set as follows.
! Speaker delay time set ting
By adjusting speaker delay time, differences in the speaker distance can be corrected. This offers you the sound quality as if the speakers are in stalled at the same distance from the listening position.
Notes:
" When the listening mode is "STEREO", the delay time cannot be changed. " You cannot change the delay time of the front speakers and the subwoofer. " In the "REAR DELAY" setting, the left and right speakers are adjusted at the same
time, not individually.
Sound from the centre speaker needs to be delayed for 90 cm. The delay time of 1 ms corresponds to 30 cm. Set the delay time to 3 MS. Sound is heard as if all the speakers were equally placed.
1 In "Speaker delay time setting", set the centre speaker to 3 MS. 2 The centre speaker is closer to the listener than others. In "Speaker level set-
