Important safety instructions
Caution: do not use the
appliance near bath tubs, washbasins or any other receptacle containing water. Protect the appliance from moisture and splashing water and do not operate it with wet hands.
In the vicinity of any water source, there
is a risk even when the appliance is switched off. Therefore, always remove the plug from the wall socket after use, especially if the appliance is being used in a bathroom. Additional protection is available by fitting an earth-leakage circuit-breaker with a rated tripping current not exceeding 30mA into your bathroom installation. Please consult a qualified electrician.
Electric heating appliances operate at
very high temperatures. Do not touch any part of the appliance except the grip. Otherwise there is a real risk of burning.
Do not use the appliance on synthetic
hair-pieces or wigs, as the heat emitted might cause damage to the synthetic fibres.
Make sure the air intake and outlet
openings are not blocked (e.g. by fingers or hair), and that no fluff or fibre particles are allowed to accumulate in the air intake. A blockage in the air-flow system may cause the integral thermal safety cut-out to switch off the appliance. Should this occur, immediately disconnect the appliance from the mains power and allow sufficient time for it to cool down before the blockage is removed and the appliance is switched on again.
Every time the appliance is used, the
main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.
To prevent damage to the power cord,
- do not bend or kink the cable, especially where it leaves the housing,
- do not pull on the cord,
- do not coil the power cord around the appliance.
Do not leave the appliance unattended
while in use.
Always switch off and remove the plug
from the wall socket after use, as well as
- in cases of malfunction, and
- during cleaning.
When removing the plug from the wall
socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself.
Do not place the appliance on any
surfaces sensitive to heat during or immediately after use.
