Limited Warranty
Terms of warranty: 3 years
Your Sentry product was designed, built and thoroughly
inspected at the factory to assure you of trouble-free
service, given normal use and care. Sentry Group,
882 Linden Avenue, Rochester, New York 14625-2784, USA,
warrants the quality and workmanship of your product
according to the terms and conditions stated below. For
products rated by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., the UL
label indicates that your product is warranted to comply
with the requirements of the Underwriters Laboratories
Testing, Labeling and Inspection Service.
Furthermore, for any product indicated as “waterproof,”
that product is warranted to comply with the ETL certification requirements which are based on the manufacturer’s
specifications for waterproof submersion. (See “Waterproof Certification” section in this manual.)
Warrantyagainststructural
and mechanical defects
This product was inspected thoroughly before leaving the
factory and is warranted to the original retail purchaser
for the Term of Warranty of your product (see above)
from the date of purchase to be free of structural
and mechanical defects due to faulty materials
or workmanship.
For purchases in North America
In the event of a structural or operating defect, Sentry
Group will repair or replace the defective part(s) or
product at no charge, provided that you notify Sentry
Group of the problem, by phone (800-828-1438 or
716-381-4900, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.- 9 p.m. E.S.T., M–F.)
or in writing (to the address on the back of this sheet)
no later than the Term of Warranty plus 10 days after the
purchase date.
•For Sentry chest, file and media products, you may send
a copy of your sales receipt as proof of purchase date.
Do not ship your product back to Sentry Group.
You will be contacted with instructions.
Limitations
The warranties set forth above are subject to the following
limitations by Sentry Group (“the manufacturer”):
1.The manufacturer’s responsibility and the buyer’s
exclusive remedy under this warranty are limited to
the repair or replacement of the defective part(s) or
product, asset forth above. The manufacturer shall not
be liable for any incidental or consequential damages
(including but not limited to loss or damage due to fire,
water, theft or vandalism)to persons orproperty resulting from the breach of this or any other express or
implied warranty applicable to the product. Some states,
provinces and countries do not allow the exclusion or
limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the
above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
2.Except as may be otherwise provided by
applicable law, the manufacturer hereby
disclaims any and all other covenants and
warranties, whether written or oral, express or
implied, including but not limited to the implied
warranties of merchantability and fitness for a
particular purpose. Where provided by applicable
law, such implied warranties shall be limited in duration
to a period of the Term of Warranty (see above) from
the date of purchase. Some states, provinces and
countries do not allow disclaimers or limitations of
implied warranties, so the above disclaimer and
limitation may not completely apply to you.
3.These warranties shall be void if repairs are made
outside the factory without prior authorization of the
manufacturer.
4.The manufacturer is not responsible for damage to the
product incurred during shipment. The product was
packed in accordance with Interstate Commerce
Commission specifications, and with reasonable
handling, should be in good condition on arrival. Any
claims for shipping damage should be made directly
to the carrier.
5.These warranties do not cover defects caused by
modification, alteration, repair or service of the product
by anyone other than the manufacturer or its authorized
representative, or by physical abuse to or misuse of
the product.
6.No Sentry Group agent, employee, representative,
dealer or retailer has the authority to make or imply any
representation, promise or agreement which in any way
varies the terms of this Limited Warranty.
7.This Limited Warranty shall apply to new, first quality
Sentry products and shall not apply to previously
owned products.
8. Any warranty, as it applies to waterproof claims, shall
not cover any products previously damaged by fire.
All of the provisions of this Limited Warranty are separate
and severable, which means that if any provision is held
invalid and unenforceable, such determination shall
not affect the validity or enforceability of the other
provisions hereof.
This Limited Warranty gives you specific legal rights, which
vary from state to state, province to province or country
to country.
Do not ship defective units back to the
manufacturer.
UL-classified fire protection
Your Sentry Fire-Safe product is classified by Underwriters
Laboratories, an independent testing organization, to pass
the following rigorous standards of fire protection:
• UL Fire Endurance Test
Subjected to temperatures up to 1550ºF (843ºC) for 1/2
hour (Models F2300 and F3300 - 1700°F (927°C) for a
duration of one hour), the interior of the unit will
remain below 350ºF (177ºC) to protect documents.
Models 1710 and 6720 - The interior of the unit will
remain below 125ºF (52ºC) and 80% humidity to protect
computer and audio/visual media. (The unit withstands
high-temperature exposure as fire moves through
a building.)
• UL Explosion Hazard Test
Subjected to flash fire in a 2000ºF (1093ºC) furnace for
20 minutes, the unit will not explode or rupture.
NOTE: When the lid is closed, you may notice a slight gap
or play between it and the body. This is normal,
and does not affect performance.
Waterproof Certification
(Models H2100, H2300, F2300,
H3100, H3300, F3300)
Your Sentry Fire-Safe waterproof product has been tested
by the independent testing firm ETL Semko and certified
to be in compliance with the manufacturers’ specifications
for waterproof submersion. Products were completely
submersed up to 2” of water above the uppermost surface
for a duration of one hour. The amount of water entering
the unit was no more than 0.5 grams (8 drops).
NOTE: All waterproof models must be closed with
the latch fully engaged to minimize any
water invasion.

If this product is damaged by fire at any time while still
owned by you (the original owner), Sentry Group will ship
a replacement free of charge, if you send the following
to Sentry Group, 882 Linden Avenue, Rochester,
NY 14625-2784 USA:
• Your name and address;
• A description of the fire, with the model number and
a photo of the burned unit.

Locating and securing this product
For maximum fire safety
Keep this product on the lowest secure floor in your home
or business. If a fire damages the flooring, there will be
less danger of injury to fire fighters below, or of damage
to the unit’s contents.

To assure that the unit will perform properly in
case of fire, store it closed and locked, with the feet down.
The front plate where the model number appears, should
be facing out, not up.
Notice: Media Safes 1710 and 6720
Store the Sentry media chest or file in a cool, dry location.
Extended exposure to temperatures above 95ºF (35ºC)
activates the special insulation in your unit that protects
the contents in an actual fire. If activated prematurely,
this insulation won’t be “fully charged,” reducing its
fire protective capability. If stored in a cool place, the
insulation will recrystalize, regaining the maximum fire
protection required for sensitive computer media.
To lock and unlock
Two keys are packed with the unit.
• To lock, insert the key (with the lid closed). Turn the key
one-quarter turn to the right. Remove the key and store
it in a secure place. (Fig. A)
• To unlock, insert the key and turn it one-quarter turn to
the left. (Fig. B)

To open waterproof models which
have been submerged in water:
1. Remove the unit from water.
2. Dry the exterior of the safe with a paper towel,
taking care to remove water droplets from around
the opening.
3. Remove any excess water from in between the lid
and the base.
4. Open the lid slowly; there may be a few droplets of
water on the gasket. If so, dry with towel.
Latch and lock operation for
waterproof chests and files
(Models H2100, H2300, F2300,
H3100, H3300, F3300)
To unlock and open:
1. Insert key in lock and turn counterclockwise.
2. While pressing down on lid with one hand, squeeze
latch button with the other hand to open safe. (Fig. C)
To use latch feature:
1. Close and press down on lid to engage latch.(Fig. D)
2. Safe can now be transported without locking it.
To close and lock:
1. Close and press down on lid to engage latch.
2. Insert key in lock and turn clockwise to lock safe.
WARNING!
Keys could potentially be locked inside unit.
To avoid this, do not open and place keys
inside unit before relocking!

Not for weapons storage.
This product is not intended for nor recommended for the
storage of firearms, ammunition, explosives, explosive
devices or weapons. Sentry Group disclaims any responsibility or liability for any damage or injury resulting from
the storage of these items in this product.

Protect delicate items!
The inside of the unit is subject to humidity. If you are
storing stamps or other delicate items which may be
affected by moisture, keep them in an airtight container.

No computer disks, audio-visual
media or photo negatives.
Standard Fire-safe chests and files are not intended to
protect computer diskettes, cartridges and tapes, audio
or video cassettes. For fire-resistant storage of these
materials, ask your retailer for the Sentry Fire-Safe
media chest or file (Models 1710, 6720).
