ProPhonic 2X-S & 2MAX Earphones
Thank you for your purchase of Sensaphonics custom earphones, the most comfortable isolating earphones available. This User Guide covers both the ProPhonic 2X-S and the 2MAX models, as they utilize the same construction, from their soft silicone earpieces to their strong yet supple cables. Both models are designed for high-resolution audio monitoring while providing up to 37 dB of isolation from ambient noise. The 2MAX is optimized for use with wireless personal monitor systems, incorporating a “louder, faster” response characteristic that is useful in situations where the earphones must share their power supply with IEM receiver circuitry. Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the proper usage and care of your new earphones. Carefully read and follow all cautions and instructions.
IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Do not use this product while operating motorized vehicles
or heavy machinery, while bicycling or jogging near trafc,
or in any potentially hazardous situation where there is a need to hear ambient noise.
• Consult your authorized Sensaphonics audiologist
before use.
• DO NOT use at excessive volume levels.
• Avoid dropping or strong impact.
• DO NOT pull on cord to remove it from the jack, or to
remove earphones from your ears. Always grasp the earpiece or jack for removal.
• DO NOT leave the cord where it can be tripped over.
• DO NOT expose in-ear monitors to temperature extremes (such as a closed auto in the sun).
• Keep your earphones away from water and dust.
SOUND LEVELS AND HEARING PROTECTION
We strongly recommend that you learn to monitor at lower levels. The ProPhonic 2X-S and 2MAX make this possible by virtually eliminating ambient noise. You’ll be surprised at the full, rich sound you can get when properly isolated from unwanted noise!
Noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) is a function of exposure
time, average noise level and peak level of very loud sounds. The table below shows recommended daily
exposure limits based on NIOSH and OSHA guidelines.
These numbers predict average risk across the population, not individual risk. It’s important to realize that some people are more susceptible to hearing loss than others.
The excess risk of developing NIHL is 8% using the NIOSH guideline and 25% using OSHA. (Source: NIOSH Publication #980126)
SAFE EXPOSURE TIME
Sensaphonics strongly recommends that you use the
NIOSH scale as your guide. Keep in mind that these guidelines are for exposure during the entire day, from
all sources. Also, it’s important to realize that hearing damage often occurs without common warning signals like tinnitus. The only sure way to know if you are
experiencing hearing loss is through annual testing.
We strongly recommend that you see your audiologist regularly!

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Keeping your earphones clean is essential! Earwax can block the
sound ports, resulting in reduced output or distortion. To clean the sound ports, utilize the supplied cleaning tool before each use. Use the tool’s wire loop to dislodge larger pieces, then clear them away with the brush.
CABLE REPLACEMENT
The earphone cable is eld replaceable. It is secured by a small
nylon screw at each earpiece. Replacement cables are available.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Insertion Instructions
STEP 1
Hold earpiece with red or blue dot on top. Blue = left, red = right. The cables should run over and behind your ears.
STEP 2
Place canal portion of the earpiece into your ear canal.
STEP 3
Rotate the earpiece toward the back of your head as you push the earpiece in.
STEP 4
Make sure top portion of earpiece is tucked in. If the earpiece is not all the way in, you will not have a good seal and may lose bass response. See
Step 5 photo for correct
placement.
STEP 5
Once in the ear, don’t be
afraid to push on the canal portion of the earpiece to make sure it is all the way in. You may need to pull back on your ear while pushing it in.
STEP 6
Cables can be adjusted to
t close to your head by
moving the split adjuster
(zipper) up or down.
To conrm that you have a good, full seal, go to
www.sensaphonics.com/test
and download our audio seal test.
REMOVAL
Never pull on the cable to remove earpieces! Instead,
reach behind the earpiece at the bowl of the ear and twist the earpiece toward your nose as you remove it. Simple!
With a little practice, inserting your Sensaphonics earpieces will become quick and easy. Just follow these simple steps.
