The single tie clip is designed with two cable clips that create strain relief and prevent unwanted
movement or handling noise.
Double Tie Clip
The double tie clip holds two UTM-86 lavalier microphones and is the accessory to use if you’re
creating a stereo recording or if you’re recording to two separate devices. The double tie clip is
designed with two cable clips on the back to create a broadcast loop.
Broadcast Loop: A broadcast loop is a trick pros use to prevent cable and
handling noise from spoiling a recording. You can make a broadcast loop
with either the single or dual tie clip. To make a broadcast loop, follow
these steps:
1. Attach the mic cable to one of the two rear cable clips.
2. Place the microphone head into the mic holder on the front side of
the tie clip. The loop can then be placed outside of the garment or
inside a shirt or outer clothing.
Pro tip: To prevent handling noise, use a piece of gaffer tape to tape the loop down onto the garment.
The viper clip is ideal for positioning the microphone on the inside or outside of clothing. The two pins
create a stable attachment to any fabric, making this is good choice for presentations or for attaching
to wardrobe for theatrical productions.
Magnetic Clip with Lanyard
The magnetic clip is useful when you want to position the microphone on a garment without piercing it
with a viper clip. Put the lanyard around your neck, and place the magnetic mount on the inside of the
garment. Secure the mount with the mic clamp on the outside of the garment.
