LARGE DIAPHRAGM MULTI-PATTERN
CONDENSER MICROPHONE
Thank you for choosing Senal.
The Senal SCM-660 is a professional grade, large dual diaphragm, true condenser microphone Its
dual 13˝ gold-plated transducer element is designed to give detailed and true sound reproduction in
professional and project studio applications Its full rich tone and clarity make it an ideal microphone
for studio recording, broadcasting, podcasting, or live recording With a wide dynamic range and
high SPL of 140 dB, you’ll be able to capture vocals and instruments accurately with pristine clarity
The SCM-660’s selectable polar patterns provide flexible options to pick up audio
while minimizing off-axis noise and reflections An onboard -10 dB attenuation pad
allows you to achieve optimal signal levels when in front of loud sound sources such as
guitar cabinets or singing The 80 Hz high-pass filter rolls off unwanted low-frequency
noise and rumble caused, for example, by wind or the microphone shaking
The included shock mount reduces unwanted vibrations when ultimate sensitivity
is required Rugged all-metal construction provides durability in use or during
transport, and the aluminum case and protective pouch/dustcover add extra
protection You’ll enjoy using the Senal SCM-660, so let’s get started
When the cardioid pattern is selected ( ), the microphone will pick up sound from
the front and reject sound from the back of the microphone This can be used for
most frontal recording applications such as singing or guitar playing
Figure 8
When in the figure 8 pattern ( ), the microphone will pick up sound from the front and back of the
microphone Any noise from the sides will be rejected This is great for two-person interviews with the
microphone in between them, or MS (mid-side) stereo recording techniques such as drum overheads
Omni
When in the Omni pattern ( ), the microphone will pick up sound from all
around This is a preferred setting for high-quality ambience sound miking, or
far-field recording in high-quality large and small recording rooms
The high-pass filter setting can be used to reduce the sensitivity of the microphone to low-frequency
sounds, additional noise and vibration from outside traffic, air conditioning or other background audio
When set to ON () the SCM-660 will filter sound 80 Hz and below The OFF setting ( ) results in
no filtering
Attenuation Pad
The SCM-660’s attenuation pad can be used to lower the output by 10 dB for preventing distortion
when recording loud sound sources like singing, percussion, or guitar amplifiers In the left position,
there is 0dB attenuation, in the right position, there is -10dB attenuation
Use an XLR cable (not included) to connect the microphone to your mixing console,
microphone preamp, or recording device Make sure phantom power is turned on
Note: Phantom power must be used with this microphone Make sure
your recording device has proper +48 V phantom power
Warning
Make sure all faders and volume knobs are down After the microphone is
connected, set the volume to your preferred level for recording
Before recording, make sure the high-pass filter is set to OFF ( ) and the
attenuation pad is not engaged See previous section for further reference
If using this microphone for vocals, do not sing or blow directly into the
diaphragm Use a pop filter (not included) to eliminate vocal plosives and
shield against corrosive moisture that can damage the diaphragm
