ProxiPen
The ProxiPen is a DAU for reading GET and GPT.
Reading
By approaching the head to a TAG (GET or GPT).
valid reading will be confirmed by an acoustic signal and the light up of the LEDs. If there is no acoustic
The distance between the head and the TAG should not be bigger than 1,5 cm. Take away the ProxiPen only
after the acoustic and optic confirmation!
Unvalid readings are indicated by a multi-bip and multi light-up of the LEDs!
Please note: A reading couldn't been accepted either, because the device is locked!
FCC Notice:
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two
conditions:
(1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and
this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause

undesired operation.
Any unauthorised modification to this device may void the authority of the user to operate it. Battery Exchange
valid reading is confirmed by an acoustic signal and a double light up of the LEDs on the ProxiPen head. If
only the LEDs light up and no acoustic signal resounds, the battery is low and should be exchanged.
The ProxiPen operates with every 1,5 V battery, size AA. Zinc-coal batteries are not recommended because they are not powerful enough. GCS recommends the following battery types:
Type
Alkalie
Company/Brand
DUARACELL Ultra

Application
-10°C to + 70°C for the standard
operation
NiMh
SANYO Twicell
rechargeable, saves battery costs, but

The battery should be exchanged within 3 minutes, other wise the ProxiPen switches in the „Boot Mode“.
In this operation mode no readings can be made anymore!
This is a protection against manipulation: If a user takes off the battery (longer then 3-15 minutes), the switch
over time to the Boot Mode is saved in the ProxiPen. If you set the date / time the mode will be again „normal“.
In the configuration mode WinDau switches
mode (by setting the date / time), but indicates the disabling time (Boot Mode) (<last ong power drop out>):
automatically during the download of a ProxiPen to the normal
Note: After a new reading this indication is deleted!
Important:
If you want to use an other battery type, you have to „inform“ the ProxiPen, because it uses other values: The maximum voltage of a NiMH battery is approx. 1,35 V, but for an Alkali battery it can be more then 1,55V:
Please watch for the polarity during the battery exchange:
The ProxiPen is protected against wrong polarity, but a wrong placed battery will be discharged!
Lock Status
You can lock the ProxiPen which means that you can't read any control point. If the ProxiPen is locked, a warning will appear in the status window.
Modem Settings
You can make settings for the remote data transmission (e.g. via cellular phone or modem) in the ProxiPen.
If you write in the field "Dial String" the settings in the ProxiPen will be used for the dial-up for the remote data
transmission. If the field is empty the PenDtu modem settings are used (standard).
Three parameters regulate the modem transmission:
Replace the entry <NUMBER> by the receiver's telephon number: e.g.: ATD0,31361
In this example „0“ is dialed for a trunk line. The comma (,) causes a pause before the rest of the number is
