2. INTRODUCTION
VOSA approved for use in MOT testing stations on vehicle classes 4, 5 and 7. Quick and simple test of 12Volt 13-pin Euro-type
sockets fitted to the rear of the vehicle. Supplied with 4.9mtr cable to enable the operator to use the tool whilst sitting in the
vehicle. Features a self test facility to ensure the serviceability of the tool. Powered by 12Volt vehicle supply. Also features the
testing of the 12Volt continuous live feed, 12Volt ignition live feed and the reversing lights - which are not part of the current MOT
test, but are very useful when diagnosing electrical faults. Can also be used in conjunction with a 13-7 pin towing adaptor.
NOTE: The self-test facility is not available when using the 13-7 pin towing adaptor, because there is no continuous feed via the 7
pin socket, from the vehicle.

3. OPERATION
3.1. Lift the vehicle's towing socket cover and insert the
tester's plug into the socket, take care to line up with
the socket before insertion. Twist the outer plug ring
clockwise to lock plug into place.
3.2. If the socket is wired for continuous 12V supply, the
12V CONTINUOUS LED should illuminate
immediately - note this is not a condition of the VOSA
MOT Test.
3.3. Sit in the vehicle with the tester unit. Press 'Test' to
ensure that the tester's control circuitry and the LED's
are in working order.
3.4. Turn the vehicle's ignition switch to the 'ON' position,
but do not start the vehicle's engine. The 12V
IGNITION LED should illuminate.
3.5. Required VOSA MOT Test checks.
Operate in turn:
- the Left and Right Hand Indicators
- the Side Lights
- the Fog Lights
- Depress the vehicle's foot brake pedal.
In each case, check to ensure the appropriate LED
illuminates on the tester.
3.6. In addition to the above VOSA MOT required checks,
also select reverse gear, and check that the LED
illuminates.
3.7. When all checks are completed, remove the tester
from the vehicle's towing socket, twisting the plug ring
anti-clockwise and ease the plug assembly out of the
socket. Replace the towing socket cover.
NOTE: When testing vehicles that include a tow-bar electrics
self test facility, all of the tester's LED's apart from the
12v feed, may flicker. This is a function of the vehicle's
self test and is normal. However, when testing the
vehicle, the LEDs will light fully if and when voltage is
being applied to each of the 13-pins on the socket, so
therefore the tester can be used as normal.
NOTE: The self-test facility is not available when using the
13-7 pin towing adaptor, because there is no
continuous feed via the 7 pin socket, from the vehicle.
