1. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Familiarise yourself with the application, limitations and potential hazards of the puller.
WARNING! Hand power pullers are not designed or certificated for lifting or slinging loads. They are intended only as pulling / tensioning
devices and must only be used as such, with care.
Ensure the puller is maintained in a safe working condition. Inspect the cable regularly. Check for fraying, kinks, broken strands or
distortion. Check all component parts, do not use if damaged, but contact an authorised service agent.
WARNING! Ensure you know how much load you are pulling. Never exceed the maximum pulling capacity. Take into account
any angle of incline over which the load must be pulled. Also account for pulling loads from thick mud, or through snow or water. Chock the wheels of vehicles to be winched and only then release any brakes and place gears in neutral. Ensure the load is capable of free movement before pulling. Take up the strain on the puller before removing the wheel chocks from a vehicle.
If necessary fit an adequate sling, eyebolt or other accessory to the load. Ensure that any accessories are equal to, or exceed maximum capacity of puller.Ensure that there is positive engagement of the puller hooks with the load and anchor point before pulling. Also ensure that the safety
latches on all hooks are correctly closed against the hook points.
Maintain correct balance and footing whilst using the puller.Remove ill fitting clothing. Remove ties, watches, rings and other loose jewellery and contain and/or tie back long hair.Keep children and non-essential persons away from the operating area. Be aware of the location of other persons assisting you.Take necessary precautions to protect your personal safety whilst using the puller.Apply even and steady pressure to the handle when releasing the tension from the load. DO NOT move the handle abruptly.  DO NOT operate the puller if any parts are damaged or missing as this may cause failure and/or personal injury.
WARNING! DO NOT exceed the maximum pulling capacity.WARNING! DO NOT use the puller as a lifting device.DO NOT use the puller for any purpose other than that for which it is designed.
 DO NOT pull the cable over or around a corner.  DO NOT wrap cable around any object or hook the cable back on to itself.  DO NOT operate the puller with less than three wraps of cable on the spindle.
DANGER! DO NOT use a “cheater” pipe, lever, or other device to lengthen the handle for additional leverage, as the pulley may fail,
causing damage and/or personal injury.
 DO NOT operate the puller if you are tired or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or intoxicating medication.Keep the puller clean and store in a safe, dry, childproof location when not in use.

3. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
3.1. ATTACHING PULLER TO LOAD AND ANCHOR WARNING! Ensure that you read, understand and apply Section 1 Safety Instructions before using the puller.
Refer to figs.1 and 2.
3.1.1. Secure one hook to a rigid anchor which is strong enough to take the strain of the load to be pulled.
3.1.2. Depress the drive pawl spring lever in the direction of A, to disengage the pawls from the ratchet wheels.
3.1.3. Move handle in the direction of C and hold firmly, then pull stop pawl lever in the direction of D, at the same time pulling the puller away from the anchor point until the required slack in the cable is obtained. Ensure there are always cable on the spindle.
3.1.4. Secure the other hook to the load, release the pull stop pawl lever.
NOTE: HP1500 only - hook (fig.2 F) can be unhooked and pulled straight out and attached directly to the load to gain extra length, but pulling capacity will be halved.

3.2. PULLING THE LOAD
WARNING! DO NOT overload the puller. Note the pulling capacity in the Specification in Section 2.
3.2.1. Engage the drive pawls in the ratchet wheels by pushing drive pawl spring lever in the direction of B.
3.2.2. Pull the handle repeatedly back and forth to wind in the cable and firstly to take up any slack and then to pull the load.
3.3. RELEASING THE TENSION
WARNING! A void abrupt handle movements, apply pressure to handle evenly and steadily.
3.3.1. Depress the drive pawl spring lever in the direction of A.
3.3.2. Very carefully and slowly move handle in the direction of E until drive pawl pushes and disengages the stop pawl to clear the ratchet teeth. Moving the handle back in the direction of C will release the load by one notch.
3.3.3. Repeat this handle motion as required to release the tension one notch at a time.
3.3.4. When all tension has been fully released from the cables, check that the load is stable and safe before detaching the puller.
