Connect Joy Drive to your mobile device’s power
adapter
Most mode rn Android de vices support USB On-the-Go (OTG) for easy connections to USB
de vices like Joy Drive. Toolkit Mobile checks your mobile de vice for USB OTG compatibility
upon start. If you receive a notification that your mobile device does not support USB OTG,
check the Android settings for an option to enable it. If there is no such setting, try another
Android mobile device that supports USB OTG or contact your place of purchase.
A USB-A power adapter is not included but
you can use the one provided with your mobile
phone or tablet.

Connect mobile device
Connect the tethered Micro-USB cable to your Android device. Use the included USB-C adapter for
compatible de vices.

Open Seagate Toolkit Mobile
Toolkit Mobile is spe cifically designed for Joy Drive. The first time you start Toolkit Mobile, you’re asked to
confirm it as Joy Drive ’s default app.
1. Tap the option to use Toolkit as the default app for Joy Drive.

Charge your Android phone and tablet
Charge your mobile de vice wherever you are.
Set Joy Drive to Powe r Bank mode to charge your mobile device.
Joy Drive must detect a mobile de vice in order to charge it. If Joy Drive is aslee p and you
connect a mobile de vice that is powered off, Joy Drive may not initially detect it. You can wake
up Joy Drive by switching to Data mode and then back to Powe r Bank mode.

Joy Drive is a large capacity hard drive when connected to your PC/Mac. The hard drive is formatted for nohassle connections with Windows and Mac computers.

Charge Joy Drive
Charge Joy Drive by connecting it to your mobile de vice’s USB charger.
The LED lights on the top of the device indicate the amount of charge in 25% incre ments. Joy Drive’s battery
is charging when one or more LED lights are blinking.

Seagate Toolkit Mobile
Toolkit Mobile lets you manage files stored on Joy Drive. Use Toolkit Mobile to:
Back up files from your mobile de vice to Joy Drive.
Move, copy, duplicate , share, and de lete files and folde rs on your mobile device and Joy Drive.
Requirements
Toolkit Mobile requires Android 4.4 and higher.

Use the Navigation me nu to select Joy Drive or your mobile de vice.
1. Tap the Navigation icon.
2. Tap Joy Drive or a device to select it.
Viewing folders and files
Tap a folder or file to open it. Use the Back Arrow to navigate to the previous folder.
View opons
Use the View icons to switch be tween thumbnail and list views.
Tap to view folde rs and files as thumbnails.
Tap to view folde rs and files as lists.
You can also choose the criteria by which files are sorted in Toolkit.
1. Tap the More icon.
2. Tap Sort.
3. Select the sort criteria: Name, Date Modified, Size, File Type.
4. Tap the sort order: ASCENDING or DESCENDING.

1. Long press to select a file or folder. A checkmark appears next to the selected item.
2. Repeat to select additional files or folders. Alternatively, tap SELECT ALL in the FOLDERS or FILES
heading.
Backing up media
Use Toolkit Mobile to back up different categories of media on your mobile device:

To back up media:
1. Tap the Navigation icon.
2. Tap Backup.
3. Select the media categories you want to back up.
4. Tap Back Up Now.
Creang new folders
To add new folders:
1. Tap the New Folder icon.
2. Use the virtual keyboard to e nter a name for the new folder.
3. Tap CREATE.
Opening files
To open files with an appropriate app for the selected file type:
1. Tap the Actions icon next to a folder or file.
2. Tap Open with.
3. Select an app.
Copying folders and files
To copy a single folder or file from one location to another:

3. Select a de stination folder for the copy. (If you’re copying from one device to another, tap the Navigation

Duplicang folders and files
To duplicate a folder or file:
1. Tap the Actions icon next to a folder or file.
2. Tap Duplicate.
The duplicated folder or file is adde d to the same location as the original, using the same name plus an
underscore character ( _ ) and a numbe r, for example, _1.
Deleng folders and files
To delete a single folde r or file:
1. Tap the Actions icon next to a file.
2. Tap Delete.
3. A dialog box appears. Tap DELETE to confirm the deletion.
To delete multiple folders and/or files:
1. Select the files you want to share.
2. Tap the More icon.
3. Tap Delete.
4. A dialog box appears. Tap DELETE to confirm the deletion.

Baery safety
This product contains a lithium-ion battery that must be disposed of properly.
Please follow the battery safe ty items below:
Do not dismantle, open or shred secondary cells or batteries.
Do not expose cells or batterie s to heat or fire. Avoid storage in direct sunlight.
Do not short-circuit a cell or a battery. Do not store cells or batteries haphazardly in a box or drawer
where they may short-circuit each other or be short-circuited by, othe r metal objects.
Do not use any charger other than that spe cifically provided for use with the equipment.
Do not use any cell or battery which is not designed for use with the e quipment.
Do not mix cells of different manufacture , capacity, size or type within a device.
Seek medical advice immediately if a cell or a battery has been swallowed.
Do not subject cells or batteries to mechanical shock.
In the event of a cell leaking, do not allow the liquid to come in contact with the skin or eyes. If contact
has be en made, wash the affected area with copious amounts of wate r and see k me dical advice.
Keep cells and batteries out of the reach of children.
Keep cells and batteries clean and dry.
Secondary cells and batteries need to be charged before use. Always use the correct charger and refer
to the manufacturer’s instructions or equipment manual for proper charging instructions.
Do not leave a battery on prolonged charge when not in use.
After extende d pe riods of storage, it may be necessary to charge and discharge the ce lls or batterie s
several times to obtain maximum performance.
Secondary cells and batteries give their best performance when they are operated at normal room
tempe rature (20°C+5°C).
Retain the original product literature for future reference.
Use only the cell or battery in the application for which it was intended.
Dispose of properly.
