• I. INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on your purchase of the SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM. This manual provides you with information about the function and use of the SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM. It ap plies to every out of bounds snow sport enthusiast.

Please read this manual carefully before you use the device. Pay special attention to the warning notices and strictly adhere to the information within the user manual. In order to be able to easily consult this user manual we suggest that you keep it in a convenient location.

The SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM is an emergency equipment, which under certain conditions can prevent a total burial if activated. It cannot prevent the release of an avalanche. An element of deadly risk remains even if the user doesn’t get buried. Every avalanche is absolutely life threatening regardless of any equipment. Therefore the SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM should not encourage you to take greater risks.

In the event of an avalanche, the user must tug on the trigger handle in order to activate the inflation : this inflates the 150 litres avalanche airbag within 3 seconds.

The SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM concept is based on the physical principle of inverse segregation. This is a phenomenon whereby, given a uniformly moving mass of particles, the smaller particles sink downwards and the larger ones float to the surface. The inflated airbag increases the victim’s volume and greatly amplifies this inverse segregation effect. The ava lanche backpack helps prevent total burial in the snow. The airbag’s shape protects the back and the head of the user. Moreover, the rounded shape gives optimal float efficiency on the avalanche and the bright airbag color helps rapid localization.

The SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM is certified by TÜV Süd (Daimlerstr. 11, 85748 Garching bei München, Germany.) to meet the requirements of the EU regulation (EU 2016 / 425).

• II. WARNING & APPROPRIATE USE

• ALL SAFETY EQUIPMENT HAS ITS LIMITS. CAREFULLY READ AND FOLLOW ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS.

• THE INTENDED AND REASONABLY FORESEEABLE USE OF THIS BACKPACK IS SOLELY : SKIING, SNOWBOARDING, SNOWSHOEING. IT CANNOT BE USED IN WATER.

• DO NOT SUBMERGE THE SYSTEM IN WATER.

• THE SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM CANNOT PREVENT AVALANCHES FROM OCCURRING.

• AVALANCHES ARE LIFE-THREATENING, NO MATTER WHAT EQUIPMENT IS DEPLOYED.

• USERS MUST NOT TAKE MORE RISKS SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY ARE WEARING A SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM.

• USE OF A SCOTT AVALANCHE BACKPACK IS NO GUARANTEE THAT TOTAL BURIAL IN SNOW WILL NOT OCCUR.

• THE SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM REQUIRES CAREFUL HANDLING AND PROPER INSPECTION BEFORE EACH USE.

• WHEN PACKING THE AIRBAGS MAKE SURE THAT NOTHING CAN TEAR OR DAMAGE THE AIRBAG, INFLATOR SYSTEM AND ITS FABRIC COVER. ALSO MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRBAG CAN OPEN UP FREELY.

• FOLD THE AIRBAG ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS. IMPROPER FOLDING INHIBITS THE OPENING OF THE AIRBAG, CAN LEAD TO MALFUNCTIONING AND CAN DAMAGE THE BACKPACK.

• SCOTT SPORTS SA CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR INJURIES CAUSED BY AN AVALANCHE INVOLVING ITS SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM.

• HAZARD IS BEST AVOIDED BY AVOIDING HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS.

BY SUCH AN ACCIDENTAL ACTIVATION, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU STOW THE TRIGGER HANDLE IN THE SHOULDER STRAP SLEEVE WITH THE COVERED ZIPPER, ESPECIALLY ON CHAIRLIFTS, IN GONDOLAS, IN OR AROUND A HELICOPTER, THE BUS, TRAIN, AUTOMOBILE, ETC.

• THE SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM DOES NOT REPLACE CONVENTIONAL AVALANCHE RESCUE EQUIPMENT : TRANSCEIVERS, SHOVELS AND PROBES SHOULD ALWAYS BE TAKEN ON OFF-PISTE TOURS.

• THE SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM HAS TO STAY CLEAN ALL TIME. IN CASE OF A SPOILED INFLATOR SYSTEM, THE FUNCTION OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM IS NOT GRANTED.

• DO NOT USE THE SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 WITH UNAUTHORIZED CARRYING SYSTEMS (BACKPACK, VEST, ETC.).

• THE ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM IS ON OR OFF, IT HAS NO INFLUENCE ON AVALANCHE BEACONS. WHEN IT IS INFLATING IT COULD INTERFERE WITH BEACONS. AVALANCHE BEACONS ARE VERY SENSITIVE TO ELECTRICAL AND MAGNETIC INFLUENCES. TO MITIGATE ANY INTERFERENCE, CARRY THE BEACON ON THE FRONT SIDE OF YOUR BODY TO INCREASE THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE ALPRIDE E1 COMPRESSOR AND THE BEACON.

• THIS APPLIANCE CAN BE USED BY CHILDREN AGED FROM 8 YEARS AND ABOVE AND PERSONS WITH REDUCED PHYSICAL, SENSORY OR MENTAL CAPABILITIES OR LACK OF EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE IF THEY HAVE BEEN GIVEN SUPERVISION OR INSTRUCTION CONCERNING USE OF THE APPLIANCE IN A SAFE WAY AND UNDERSTAND THE HAZARDS INVOLVED.

• IV. ALPRIDE E1 SUPERCAP

SUPERCAPACITORS

The E1 Avalanche Airbag System is the first avalanche airbag that does not use lithium-ion or lithium polymer batteries to fuel the compressor’s electric motor. The E1 System uses its SuperCapacitors to store energy in the form of an electrostatic field. Unlike traditional batteries, there is no need to create a chemical reaction to generate energy, allowing the E1 System to release its power faster. The E1 ’s SuperCapacitors offer several advantages over batteries. They are not sensitive to changes in temperature, deliv ering the same performance at -30 degrees C and +50 degrees C. This saves weight because, unlike batteries , there is no need to boost the SuperCapacitors to guarantee outstanding performance at low temperatures. While batteries tend to wear out after repeated charges, the SuperCapacitors stay strong. They are guaranteed for 500,000 charging cycles with a nearly infinite lifespan, clearly superior to the 3- to 5-year lifespan of the average battery. What’s more, the SuperCapacitors are considered passive electronic elements, like cameras for example, so there are no restric tions to travel, shipping or storage. This is a major advantage over traditional batteries and compressed gas cartridge systems.

THE RADIAL COMPRESSOR

The E1 System uses a radial compressor, similar to turbo compressors found in cars. This design allows for high-speed air flow and inflation pressure equal to compressed air cartridge avalanche airbag systems.

2 x AA BATTERIES

The E1 SuperCap System uses two AA batteries for two primary purposes : 1- to recharge the SuperCapacitors

2- to guarantee that the SuperCapacitors keep their full power, compensating for their slow loss of charge and ensuring

several months of autonomy (see the section on autonomy).

NOTE : Only alkaline or lithium (AA batteries) should be used (for quick recharging at very low temperatures). Use brand new, premium quality Alkaline AA / LR6 batteries. Do not use AA zinc carbon batteries and NiCd or NiMH accumulators (rechargeable). These are often not strong enough to sufficiently charge the SuperCapacitors.

Depending on the AA batteries technology, recharge and autonomy can vary :

• Alkaline batteries : – are capable of 1 recharge OR 3 months autonomy of normal use (1.5 month if constantly on). – it is strongly recommended to change the batteries after 1 recharge of the system.

• Lithium batteries : – are capable of 3 recharge OR 5 months autonomy of normal use (3 months if constantly on). – it is strongly recommended to change the batteries after 3 recharges of the system.

MICRO-USB PORT

The micro-USB port (5V – 2A) makes it possible to recharge the SuperCapacitors using the USB / micro -USB cable provided. Charging can be completed with a standard USB charger (not included), like those used for cell phones. Recharging the SuperCapacitors with the micro-USB cable takes priority over recharging via the 2 x AA batteries.

The SuperCapacitors can be recharged with the micro-USB cable even in the absence of the AA batteries.

• V. ON / OFF AND AUTO-TEST

To turn on the E1 System, use the ON / OFF switch . This safety switch prevents undesired activation inside the bag. Pull the switch up, turn it clockwise and hold for 2 seconds. Each time it is turned on, the E1 System conducts an auto-test to verify that the motor, SuperCapacitors and electronics are functioning properly.

During this auto-test, the motor completes a first rotation at low speed, switching on the green LED. If the auto-test is succesfully completed, the motor rotates a second time and the green / orange LED will blink

The system is ready for use.

If the auto-test detects a malfunction , the motor will rotate 4x and the red LED will remain on There is a problem in

the system and it is not operational.

If the system detects a malfunction and it is charging, the red LED will remain on and the orange LED will blink rapidly.

To turn the system OFF, pull the switch and turn it clockwise (same procedure as for turning ON). The motor will rotate 1 x and the red LED will turn on and off again to indicate that the system has shut down.

NOTE : The LED blinking speed indicates that the system is either charging (2 x per second) or in standard ON mode (1 x every 3 seconds).

TERRAIN USE AND LED STATUSES

To use the E1 System on terrain, you will need to : 1- Turn ON the E1 System (see section 2- Verify that the auto-test is okay (see section

If the red L ED blinks, the system cannot guarantee 100% inflation (b ut it will still attempt to inflate the airbag as much

If the red LED remains on, the system is defective and should not be used.

NOTE : The LED blinking speed indicates that the system is either charging (2 x per second) or in standard ON mode (1 x every 3 seconds). To activate the airbag inflation, pull hard (between 5 to 10 kg) on the activation trigger.

• VI. AIRBAG INFLATION

In the event of an avalanche, pull hard (between 5 to 10 kg) on the activation trigger. The airbag will inflate in 3-4 seconds. The compressor will operate for six seconds and then stop. The airbag will remain inflated for a minimum of three minutes and then slowly begin to deflate. Once inflation is complete, the SuperCapacitors will automatically recharge thanks to the two AA batteries if installed (see

IV.)

section NOTE : In compliance with the EN 167 16 standard “Cer tification of Avalanche Airbags”, the airbag must remain inflated for

a minimum of three minutes. An avalanche airbag is not a life vest; therefore, it is normal that it does not remain inflated at full pressure for more than three minutes.

HANDLING DURING AVALANCHE INCIDENT

In the event of an avalanche, always try to reach a place of safety or escape from the path of the snowslip. If on them, try also to remove your skis or snowboard, as these have an anchoring effect in an avalanche. Once the avalanche appears to be losing momentum, close your mouth and hold your arms in front of your face to create a life -saving air pocket. Once the avalanche has stopped moving and you can extract yourself, do not remove the airbag and help others. Only remove when you are confident there is no more risk of a second avalanche.

• VII. CHARGE AND STATUS OF THE SYSTEM

RECHARGING THE SUPERCAPACITORS

There are two ways to recharge the SuperCapacitors : 1- Insert the two AA batteries (not included). The SuperCapacitors will be automatically recharged once the batteries are

in place. Depending on the type of batteries and the temperature, charging takes 40-80 minutes.

2- Use the micro- USB por t and the standard micro-USB cable (provided). The USB port can be connected to a standard

charger (not included), like those used for cell phones, or to a standard power bank. Depending on the type of charger or power bank, charging takes 20-40 minutes.

The charging status is indicated by the rapid blinking of the LEDs (2 x per second). The level of charge is indicated by the LED colour.

Red : low charge – the charge level cannot guarantee full inflation of the airbag (but it will still attempt to inflate the

airbag as much as possible) Orange : medium charge – the charge level guarantees 100 % inflation of the airbag but with less than six hours of autonomy. Green : charging is complete – the LED blinks slowly (1 x every 3 seconds).

NOTE :

• Before the first use, charge the system with the USB port

• Charging with the USB cable takes priority over the batteries. If the batteries are in place and the cable is connected, charging will be carried out via the cable without draining the batteries.

• Charging is also possible without batteries using the USB cable.

• If the system is charging in OFF mode, the LEDs will not blink but charging will continue.

• The system recharges automatically. If the airbag is inflated, the system will begin to recharge on the batteries or the USB port immediately.

• 2 x AA batteries allow for 1-2 recharging cycles of the SuperCapacitors (depending on the quality of the batteries used and the charging temperature).

WARNIN G : Do not leave the USB cable connected while using the E1 System in the terrain. After charging is complete, remove the USB cable.

AUTONOMY OF THE E1 SYSTEM

The system’s autonomy depends on the quality and energy of the AA batteries and the frequency and duration of use in ON or OFF mode. The times listed below assume the use of high-quality alkaline batteries :

• Approx. 2-3 months of autonomy with two new AA alkaline batteries not including recharge of the SuperCapacitors (new batteries inserted after recharging the SuperCapacitors)

• The system can be used without additional AA batteries. However we strongly suggest to always use it with the batter ies to ensure extended autonomy. If used without batteries and the LEDs status are flashing green, the autonomy is a minimum of 6 h.

• VIII. DEFLATING AND RE-FOLDING THE AIRBAG

The airbag should be deflated using the airbag’s draining knob. This safety knob is designed to prevent the system from accidently activating in the backpack. Press and turn the knob counter-clockwise. Once the knob is released, it returns to its initial position automatically so it won’t be left in the deflated position.

WARNIN G : The compressor compartment must remain closed to prevent objects from being sucked into the compressor and blocking inflation of the airbag.

• IX. CORRECT ATTACHMENT & SETTING

Put the backpack on and adjust shoulder straps to fit your body. Always fasten hipbelt, chest and leg loop and fit them according to your body. The SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM will only be of use to you if the backpack stays on your body during an emergency! Most of the weight of the pack should be resting on your hips rather than being carried by your shoulders.

HOW TO ADJUST THE TRIGGER HANDLE

1 Adjust the height of the trigger handle on the shoulder

strap. There are three dierent settings (S/M/L). The trigger handle should ideally be at chest height.

• X. INSTRUCTIONS

REGULAR CHECKS

Your SCOTT ALPRIDE avalanche backpack requires no maintenance but the following points have to be observed : 1- Deploy the airbag before the new season starts or at least once a year or after the backpack has been exposed to

moisture / wet weather. Check its condition, allow it to dry and fold it back together again. 2- Pack the airbag away only when it is completely dry. 3- Prior to every tour, check all the points described in this user manual and inspect the condition of the system’s safety

straps and fastenings. Practice deploying the airbag so you have a feel for the amount of force you need to apply. In the event of a real avalanche,

you will then be able to deploy it correctly and intuitively.

• XI. MAINTENANCE

POST-AVALANCHE CHECK

Every use of the SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM can negatively affect the material. Often the damage is not visible with the naked eye. After a use in an avalanche, contact the authorized SCOTT Dealer where you have bought your SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM for further inspection.

If you are unable to send the SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM, then following points are recommended to check :

• Check the airbags visually for punctures.

• Check the airbag fastening straps for tears.

• Check the shoulder, waist and chest straps as well as the seams for tears.

• Check all buckles (adjustment buckles at the shoulder straps, waist and chest strap).

• Check buckles as well as leg straps for tears and deformation.

HOW TO REMOVE THE DETACHABLE AIRBAG SYSTEM

Turn o the system, open the air bag zipper and detach the hooks.

Push the trigger handle and the cable through the hole. Open the velcro slot.

Open the backpack, the compressor cover and the shoulder strap pocket. Detach the trigger handle.

Pull the compressor and the air bag out.

HOW TO INSTALL THE DETACHABLE AIRBAG SYSTEM

Open the air bag compartment zipper until about 3 cm to the end.

Close the compressor compartment cover and attach the hooks.

Put the trigger handle through the velcro slot and insert it in the shoulder strap pocket. Pass the airbag through the two holes to the air bag compartment.

STORAGE, CLEANING & SERVICE LIFE

STORAGE

Store your SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM in a cool, dry environment. For safety reasons, keep the backpack out of the reach of children . SCOTT Sports SA shall not be liable for any damages and losses due to improper storage.

CLEANING

Use only water (no cleaning products !) to clean the backpack. Ensure that the entire product is dry before using it again to avoid the risk of icing. In case of a dirty inflator, the inflator system must be cleaned properly with a damp soft microfiber towel. SCOTT Sports SA shall not be liable for any damages and losses due to improper cleaning.

DISPOSAL

Dispose of the product in domestic waste. Do not mechanically disrupt or incinerate the product. This may lead to

potential hazards.

Electrical appliance :

• Never dispose of electrical appliance in your household waste.

• Return electrical appliance using the recycling facilities provided.

• Contact your local refuse disposal authority for more details. AA / LR6 1.5 V Batteries :

• Never dispose of batteries in your household waste.

• They may contain toxic heav y metals and are subject to hazardous waste regulations.

• The chemical symbols of the heavy metals are: Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury, Pb = lead.

• Only dispose of batteries when they are fully discharged.

• Before disposing of the appliance it is essential to first remove the batteries.

• Return batteries using the recycling facilities provided.

• Contact your local refuse disposal authority for more details.

SERVICE LIFE

The product has a limited life time and should be replaced in case of signs of mechanical wear. It is recommended to regularly control your gear and to replace it at least every five years after first use. The functioning could be reduced due to mechanical wear or improper use. Dispose of the product if you notice any damage. The SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM is designed to withstand 50 inflations.

• XII. TRANSPORT & TRAVEL

The SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM is using only 2 x AA battery. The SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM has no Li-Ion / Li-Po battery, no gas cartridges under pressure and no pyrotechnic trigger.

The SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM has no restrictions for travelling and shall not be considered as Dangerous Good in the meaning of the Dangerous Goods Regulations.

E1 AIRBAG SYSTEMS. Es richtet sich an alle Schneesport-begeisterten, die über Grenzen hinausgehen. Bitte lesen Sie dieses Benutzerhandbuch vor der Anwendung des Systems sorgfältig durch. Dabei sollten insbesondere

Das SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM ist Teil der Sicherheits- und Notfallausrüstung und kann unter bestimmten Umständen bei einer Aktivierung eine Ganzverschüttung verhindern. Das Auslösen einer Lawine kann nicht verhinder t werden. Es besteht weiterhin ein lebensgefährliches Risiko, selbst wenn der Anwender nicht verschüttet wird. Jede Lawine stellt eine absolute Lebensgefahr dar, unabhängig von der Ausrüstung. Deshalb sollte das SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM Sie nicht dazu anregen, noch größere Risiken einzugehen.

Bei einem Lawinenabgang muss der Benutzer am Auslösegrif f ziehen , um das System auszulösen : So wird der 150-Li ter-Lawinen-Airbag innerhalb von 3 Sekunden aufgeblasen.

Das SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM- Konzept basiert auf dem physikalischen Prinzip der umgekehrten Segrega tion. Bei diesem Phänomen werden bei einer sich gleichmäßig bewegenden Partikel-Masse die kleineren Par tikel zum Boden gedrückt und die größeren Teile an die Oberfläche geschwemmt. Der aufgeblasene Airbag vergrößert das Volu men des Verunglückten und verstärkt somit eindeutig den Effekt der umgekehrten Segregation. Der Lawinenrucksack kann Schutz vor einer Ganzverschüttung bieten. Die Form des Airbags schützt zudem Rücken un d Kopf des Anwenders. Außerdem sorgt die abgerundete Form für optimalen Auftrieb auf der Lawine und die auf fällige Farbe hilft bei einer raschen Ortung des Verunglückten.

• Das Alpride E1 Airbag-System hat im ein- und ausgeschalteten Zustand keinen Einfluss auf Lawinenortungsgeräte. Beim Aufblasen kann es Störungen bei Ortungsgeräten auslösen. Lawinenortungsgeräte (Beacons) sind sehr empfindlich gegen elektrische und magnetische Störungen. Um jegliche Störungen zu minimieren, sollte das Ortungsgerät vorne am Körper getragen we rden, um den Abstand zwischen dem Alpride E 1-Kompressor und dem Ortungsgerät zu vergrößern.

• Dieses Produkt ist für Kinder ab 8 Jahren und für Personen geeignet, die verminderte körperliche, sensorielle oder geistige Fähigkeiten haben oder nicht über ausreichende Erfahrung und Kenntnisse verfügen, sofern sie vorher Anwei sungen für den sicheren Gebrauch des Geräts erhalten haben und die damit verbundenen Gefahren kennen.

• IV. ALPRIDE E1 SUPERCAP

SUPERKONDENSATOREN

Das E1 Avalanche Airbag-System ist der erste Lawinen-Airbag, der keine Lithium-Ionen- oder Lithium-Polymer-Akkus zum Antreiben des elektrischen Kompressormotors verwendet.

Das E1 -System speichert die Energie mittels Superkondensatoren in Form eines elektrostatischen Felds. Im Gegensatz zu herkömmlichen A kkus muss zur En ergiegewinnung keine chemische Reaktion e rzeugt werden , sodass das E 1-System sein e Leistung schneller freigibt.

Die Superkondensatoren des E1 bieten mehrere Vorteile gegenüber Akkus. Sie sind sind nicht empfindlich gegenüber Temperaturschwankungen und liefern bei -30° C dieselbe Leistung wie bei +50° C. Dies spart Gewicht, denn im Vergleich zu Akkus müssen die Superkondensatoren nicht verstärkt werden, um eine hervorragende Leistung bei niedrigen Tempe raturen zu garantieren.

Während Akkus nach mehrmaligem Laden verschleißen, behalten die Superkondensatoren ihre Leistung. Sie können

500.000 Mal aufgeladen werden und haben eine fast unbegrenzte Lebensdauer. Das ist eindeutig länger als die drei- bis

fünfjährige Lebensspanne von durchschnittlichen Akkus. Die Superkondensatoren gelten auch als passive elektronische Elemente, wie beispielsweise Kameras. Deshalb gibt es kei

ne Einschränkun gen bei Reise n, Versand ode r Lagerung . Dies ist ein bedeutender Vorteil gegenüber h erkömmlichen Akkus und Kartuschensystemen mit komprimiertem Gas.

DER RADIALKOMPRESSOR

Das E1-System arbeitet mit einem Radialkompressor, der vergleichbar ist mit in Autos verwendeten Turbokompressoren. Das Design erlaubt einen schnellen Luf tstrom und Luftdruck, vergleichbar mit Lawinen-Airbag-Systemen mit Druckluft.

2 AA-BATTERIEN

Das E1 SuperCap-System nutzt zwei A A-Batterien hauptsächlich aus zwei Gründen : 1- Um die Superkondensatoren aufzuladen 2- Um eine 100 % -ige Leistung der Superkondensatoren zu garantieren, den geringen Verlust der Ladekapazität zu kom

pensieren und um die Laufzeit von einigen Monaten sicherzustellen (siehe Abschnitt zu Laufzeit).

HINWEIS : Nur Alkaline- oder Lithiumbatterien (AA) verwenden (zum schnellen Aufladen bei sehr niedrigen Temperaturen). Neue Alkaline AA-/LR6-Batterien der Premiumqualität verwenden. Keine AA-Zinkkarbonat-Batterien und NiCd- oder NiMH-Akkus (wiederaufladbar) verwenden. Diese besitzen oft nicht ge nügend Kapazität zum Aufladen der Superkondensatoren.

Abhängig von der Technologie der AA-Batterien kann das Laden und die Laufzeit variieren :

• Alkaline-Batterien :

– sind ausreichend für ein einmaliges Aufladen ODER haben bei normalem Gebrauch eine Laufzeit von 3 Monaten

(1,5 Monate bei ständigem Gebrauch).

– es wird empfohlen, die Batterien nach dem einmaligen Aufladen des Systems auszutauschen.

• Lithiumbatterien :

– sind ausreichend für dreimaliges Aufladen ODER haben bei normalem Gebrauch eine Lauf zeit von 5 Monaten

(3 Monate bei ständigem Gebrauch).

– es wird empfohlen, die Batterien nach drei Ladevorgängen des Systems auszutauschen.

MICRO-USB-ANSCHLUSS

Durch den Micro-USB-Anschluss (5 V–2 A) können die Superkondensatoren über das mitgelieferte USB-/Micro-USB-Kabel aufgeladen werden. Das Aufladen kann mit einem Standard- USB- Ladegerät (nicht im Lieferumfang enthalten), das auch für Mobiltelefone verwendet wird, erfolgen. Die Superkondensatoren sollten vorrangig mit dem Micro-USB-Kabel aufgela den werden, nachrangig mit den 2 AA-Batterien. Die Superkondensatoren können mit dem Micro-USB-Kabel aufgeladen werden, auch wenn keine A A-Batterien vorhan den sind.

• V. EIN / AUS UND AUTOTEST

Zum Einschalten des E1-Systems den EIN-/AUS-Schalter betätigen. Dieser Sicherheitsschalter verhindert eine unbeabsichtigte Aktivierung im Rucksack. Den Schalter nach oben ziehen, im Uhrzeigersinn drehen und für zwei Sekunden gedrückt halten. Das E1 -System führt bei jedem Einschalten einen Autotest durch , um zu prüfen, ob Motor, Superkondensatoren und Elek tronik einwandfrei funktionieren.

Bei diesem Autotest führt der Motor eine langsame erste Umdrehung durch und die grüne LED beginnt zu leuchten. Wenn der Autotest erfolgreich war, dreht sich der Motor ein zweites Mal und die grüne/orangefarbene LED blinkt.

Das System ist nun einsatzbereit.

Wird beim Autotest eine Fehlfunktion festgestellt, dreht sich der Motor viermal und die rote LED leuchtet weiterhin

Im System wurde ein Fehler festgestellt und es ist nicht betriebsbereit.

Stellt das System während des Ladevorgangs eine Störung fest, leuchtet die rote LED weiterhin und die orangefarbene

LED blinkt schnell.

Um das Syste m auszuschalten, am Scha lter ziehen und im Uhrzeigersinn dre hen (genauso wie beim Ein schalten). Der Motor dreht sich einmal und die rote LED schaltet sich ein und aus, um anzuzeigen, dass das System ausgeschaltet ist.

HINWEIS : Die Blinkgeschwindigkeit der LED gibt an, ob sich das System im Ladestatus befindet (2-mal pro Sekunde) oder im standardmäßigen ON-Modus (1-mal alle 3 Sekunden).

VERWENDUNG IM GELÄNDE UND LED-STATUS

Um das E1-System im Gelände zu verwenden, musst du wie folgt vorgehen : 1- E1-System einschalten (siehe Abschnitt 2- Prüfen, ob der Autotest erfolgreich war (siehe Abschnitt

Blinkt die grüne LED, ist das System für eine Laufzeit von mindestens sechs Stunden betriebsbereit. Wenn die orangefarbene LED blinkt, verfügt das System über eine Laufzeit von weniger als sechs Stunden. Blinkt die rote LED, kann keine vollständige Aktivierung garantiert werden (es wird jedoch versucht, den Airbag

bestmöglich aufzupumpen).

Wenn die rote LED beständig leuchtet, ist das System defekt und sollte nicht verwendet werden.

HINWEIS : Die Blinkgeschwindigkeit der LED gibt an, ob sich das System im Ladestatus befindet (2-mal pro Sekunde) oder im standardmäßigen ON-Modus (1-mal alle 3 Sekunden). Um den Airbag zu aktivieren, mit starkem Zug (5–10 kg) am Aktivierungs-Auslöser ziehen.

• VI. AIRBAG-AKTIVIERUNG

Bei einem Lawinenabgang mit starkem Zug (5–10 kg) am Aktivierungs-Auslöser ziehen. Der Airbag wird in drei bis vier Sekunden aufgeblasen. Der Kompressor ist sechs Sekunden in Betrieb, bevor er sich ausschaltet. Der Airbag bleibt mindestens drei Minuten aktiviert und beginnt sich anschließend allmählich zu entleeren. Sobald er vollständig aufgeblasen ist, werden die Superkondensatoren automatisch über die zwei AA-Batterien (falls ins talliert) wieder aufgeladen (siehe Abschnitt IV.)

HINWEIS : Gemäß der Norm EN 16716 zur „Zertifizierung von Lawinen-Airbags“ muss der Airbag für mindestens drei Mi nuten aktiviert bleiben. Beim Lawinen-Airbag handelt es sich nicht um eine Rettungsweste. Deshalb ist es normal, dass er nicht länger als drei Minuten vollständig aktiviert bleibt.

VORGEHEN WÄHREND EINES LAWINENABGANGS

Versuche bei einem Lawinenabgang stets, dich in Sicherheit zu bringen bzw. der Lawine zu entkommen. Versuche in diesem Fall außerdem, deine Skier oder das Snowboard zu entfernen, da diese bei einer Lawine wie ein Anker wirken. Sobald die Lawine an Wucht verliert, schließe deinen Mund und halte deine Arme vor dein Gesicht, um so einen lebensrettenden Lufteinschluss zu schaffen. Wenn die Lawine zum Stillstand gekommen ist und du dich befreien konntest, entferne den Airbag nicht und eile anderen zu Hilfe. Entferne ihn erst, wenn du absolut sicher bist, dass keine zweite Lawine abgeht.

• VII. LADEVORGANG UND SYSTEMSTATUS

AUFLADEN DER SUPERDONDENSATOREN

Es gibt zwei Möglichkeiten, die Superkondensatoren aufzuladen : 1- Setze die beiden AA-Batterien ein (nicht im Lieferumfang enthalten). Die Superkondensatoren werden automatisch

aufgeladen, sobald die Batterien eingesetzt wurden. Der Ladevorgang dauert je nach Batterietyp und Temperatur 40 bis 80 Minuten.

2- Verwende den Micro-USB-Anschluss und das Standard-Micro-USB -Kabel (mitgeliefer t). Der USB -Anschluss kann mit

einem Standard-Ladegerät (nicht im Lieferumfang enthalten), das auch für Mobiltelefone verwendet wird, oder mit einer Standard-Powerbank verbunden werden. Abhängig vom Typ des Ladegeräts bzw. der Powerbank dauert der Ladevorgang 20 bis 40 Minuten.

Der Ladestatus wird durch das schnelle Blinken der LEDs angezeigt (2-mal pro Sekunde). Der Ladestand wird durch die LED-Farbe angezeigt.

Rot : Niedriger Ladestand – die Aufladung kann keine vollständige Aktivierung des Airbags garantieren (es wird jedoch

versucht, den Airbag bestmöglich aufzupumpen)

Orange : Mittlerer Ladestand – die Aufladung garantiert eine vollständige Aktivierung des Airbags, jedoch mit einer Laufzeit

von weniger als sechs Stunden.

Grün : Vollständige Ladung – die LED blinkt langsam (1-mal alle 3 Sekunden).

HINWEIS :

• System vor dem ersten Gebrauch über den USB-Anschluss aufladen.

• Das Aufladen mit dem USB- Kabel hat Vorrang gegenüber Batterien. Wenn die Batterien eingesetzt sind und das Kabel verbunden ist, startet der Ladevorgang über das Kabel, ohne die Batterien zu entleeren.

• Ein Aufladen über das USB- Kabel ist auch ohne Batterien möglich.

• Lädt das System im OFF- Modus, blinken die LEDs nicht, aber der Ladevorgang wird fortgesetzt.

• Das System wird automatisch aufgeladen. Sobald der Airbag aufgeblasen ist, beginnt das System sofort mit dem Wie deraufladen über die Batterien oder den USB-Anschluss.

• 2 AA-Batterien ermöglichen ein bis zwei Ladezyklen der Superkondensatoren (abhängig von der Qualität der verwen deten Akkus und der Temperatur beim Laden).

ACHTUNG : USB-Kabel nicht eingesteckt lassen, wenn das E1-System im Gelände verwendet wird. USB-Kabel nach voll ständiger Aufladung entfernen.

LAUFZEIT DES E1-SYSTEMS (AUTONOMIE)

Die Laufzeit des Systems hängt von der Qualität und der Energie der A A-Batterien und der Häufigkeit und Dauer des Einsatzes im ON- bzw. OFF-Modus ab. Die nachfolgenden Zeiten gehen vom Einsatz hochwertiger Alkaline-Batterien aus :

• Ca. zwei bis drei Monate bei zwei neuen AA-Alkaline-Batterien ohne Aufladung der Superkondensatoren (neue Batte rien, die nach dem Aufladen der Superkondensatoren eingesetzt werden)

• Das System kann auch ohne zusätzliche AA-Batterien betrieben werden. Wir empfehlen jedoch, das System immer mit den Batterien zu verwenden, um die Laufzeit zu verlängern.

Wird das System ohne Batterien betrieben und blinken die LEDs grün, beträgt die Laufzeit mindestens sechs Stunden.

Der Airbag sollte mit dem Ablassknopf entleert werden. Dieser Sicherheitsknopf schützt das System vor unbeabsichtigter Aktivierung im Rucksack. Knopf im Uhrzeigersinn drücken und drehen. Sobald der Knopf losgelassen wird, stellt er sich automatisch auf seine ursprüngliche Position und bleibt nicht in der Ablassposition.

Das SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM ist nur dann hilfreich, wenn der Rucksack in einer Notsituation auf dem Rücken bleibt ! Das meiste Gewicht des Rucksacks sollte auf der Hüfte sitzen und nicht auf Ihren Schultern.

1 Stellen Sie die Höhe des Auslösegris am Schultergurt

ein. Es gibt drei verschiedene Einstellungen (S/M/L). Der Auslösegri sollte sich idealerweise auf Brusthöhe beﬁnden.

• X. ANLEITUNG

STANDARDPRÜFUNGEN

Ihr SCOTT ALPRIDE Lawinenrucksack benötigt keine Wartung, die folgenden Punkte müssen jedoch kontrolliert werden : 1- Vor jeder neuen Saison bzw. mindestens einmal pro Jahr oder nach einem Einsatz des Rucksacks bei feuchtem oder nassem

Wetter, den Airbag auseinanderfalten. Seinen Zustand überprüfen, trocknen lassen und anschließend wieder zusammenfalten.

2- Den Airbag erst dann wieder verstauen, wenn er vollständig getrocknet ist. 3- Vor jeder Tour müssen alle in diesem Benutzerhandbuch aufgeführten Punkte überprüft werden und der Zustand der

Sicherheitsgurte und Befestigungen des Systems muss kontrolliert werden.

Das Auslösen des Airbags sollte geübt werden, damit Sie ein Gefühl dafür haben, wie viel Kraft Sie aufwenden müssen. Im Fall einer echten Lawine sind Sie dann in der Lage, den Airbag richtig und intuitiv anzuwenden.

• XI. WARTUNG

ÜBERPRÜFUNG NACH EINEM LAWINENEINSATZ

Jeder Einsatz des SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEMS kann sich negativ auf das Material auswirken. Häufig kann ein Schaden nicht mit bloßem Auge erkannt werden. Bitte kontaktieren Sie nach einem Einsatz des Systems in einer Lawine Ihren autorisierten SCOTT Händler, bei dem Sie Ihr SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM gekauft haben, um dieses genau untersuchen zu lassen.

Wenn Sie das SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM nicht einschicken können, sollten die folgenden Punkte überprüft werden :

• Überprüfen Sie den Airbag optisch auf Einstiche

• Kontrollieren Sie, ob die Befestigungsgurte des Airbags eingerissen sind

• Untersuchen Sie auch Schulter-, Hüft- und Brustgurte und die Nähte auf Risse

• Kontrollieren Sie alle Schnallen (Einstellschnallen an den Schultergurten sowie an Hüft- und Brustgurt)

• Untersuchen Sie die Schnallen und die Beinschlaufen auf Risse und Verformungen

REINIGUNG

Zur Reinigung des Rucksacks ausschließlich Wasser verwenden (keine Reinigungsprodukte!). Bevor das Produkt wieder verwendet werden kann, muss es vollständig trocken sein. Auf diese Weise wird die Bildung von Eis verhindert. Wenn das Befüllsystem verschmutzt ist, muss es mit einem feuchten, weichen Mikrofasertuch sorgfältig gereinigt werden.

ENTSORGUNG

• XII. TRANSPORT & REISEN

Das SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEM wird nur mit 2 AA-Batterien betrieben. Das SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEM verfügt weder über Lithium-Ionen- / Lithium-Polymer-Akkus noch über Gaskartuschen und Pyrotechnikauslöser.

Das SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEM unterliegt keinen Einschränkungen beim Reisen und gilt nicht als Gefahrengut im Sinne der Gefahrengutvorschriften.

Auch wenn absolut keine Einschränkungen beim SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEM auf Reisen bestehen, empfehlen wir, um Missverständnisse bei der Flughafensicherung zu vermeiden, den Fluggesellschaften zu melden, dass du einen elektrischen Lawinen-Airbag OHNE Akku im Gepäck hast. Das SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEM verfügt über ein Druckentlastungsventil.

1- Ist E1 eingeschaltet? 2- Sind die Superkondensatoren ausreichend geladen (leuchtet die LED

orange oder grün)?

3- War der Autotest erfolgreich ? Verfügen die Superkondensatoren nicht über ausreichend Ladung, um den Motor

zu starten? Die Kompressorabdeckung wurde nicht korrekt geschlossen und ein Fremdkörper

blockiert das Kompressorrad, sodass es sich nicht drehen kann. Für eine Fehlfunktion gibt es folgende Gründe :

1- Der Airbag wurde zusammengerollt, anstatt korrekt zusammengefaltet 2- Stof f oder Fremdkörper sind im Reißverschluss eingeklemmt 3- Der Auslassknopf ist in der Entleerungsposition blockiert und verhindert,

dass sich das Rückschlagventil korrekt schließt

Stelle sicher, dass du neue, hochwertige Alkaline- oder LithiumAA / LR6-Batterien verwendest. Keine AA-Zinkkarbonat-Batterien und NiCd- oder NiMH-Akkus (wiederaufladbar) verwenden.

• I. INTRODUCTION

Merci d’avoir choisi ce système SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG. Ce manuel détaille le fonctionnement et l’utilisation du système SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG destiné aux amateurs de

sports de neige. Veuillez lire attentivement ce manuel avant d’utiliser votre système. Portez une attention toute particulière aux avertisse

ments et suivez rigoureusement les indications qui vous sont données. Gardez ce manuel à proximité afin de pouvoir vous y référer facilement lorsque vous en aurez besoin.

Le SYSTÈME SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG est un équipement à utiliser dans les cas d’urgence. Son activation peut, dans certaines conditions, empêcher un ensevelissement total. En revanche, il n’empêche pas le déclenchement des avalanches . Un risque mortel subsiste, même en cas de non ensevelissement de l’utilisateur. Les avalanches représentent un danger de mort, quel que soit l’équipement utilisé. C’est pourquoi le port d’un système SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG ne doit pas pour autant vous encourager à prendre des risques supplémentaires.

En cas d’avalanche, l’utilisateur doit tirer sur la poignée de déclenchement pour activer le système de gonflage: l’airbag anti-avalanche de 150 litres se gonfle ainsi en 3 secondes.

Le concept du système SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG repose sur le principe physique de la ségrégation inverse. Il s’agit du phénomène selon lequel les particules les plus petites d’une masse se déplaçant de manière uniforme ont tendance à s’accumuler vers le bas, alors que les plus grosses particules restent à la surface. Une fois gonflé, l’airbag augmente le volume constitué par la victime et amplifie donc notablement l’effet de ségrégation inverse. Le sac à dos anti-avalanche contribue ainsi à prévenir l’ensevelissement total dans la neige. La forme de l’airbag protège le dos et la tête de l’utilisateur. En outre, sa forme arrondie permet une efficacité de flottaison optimale sur l’avalanche et sa couleur voyante assure une localisation rapide.

• II. AVERTISSEMENT ET USAGE APPROPRIÉ

• Tout équipement de sécurité a ses limites. Lisez attentivement et respectez toutes ces instructions.

• L’utilisation de ce produit est dédiée uniquement pour : le ski, le snowboard et la randonnée à ski ou en raquettes. NE PEUT ÊTRE UTILISÉ DANS L’EAU.

• Ne pas plonger le système dans l’eau.

• Le système SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG n’empêche pas le déclenchement des avalanches.

• Les avalanches représentent un danger de mort, quel que soit l’équipement utilisé.

• Le port d’un système SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG ne doit pas pour autant vous encourager à prendre des risques supplémentaires.

• L’utilisation d’un sac à dos anti-avalanche SCOTT ne garantit pas une protection totale contre l’ensevelissement par la neige.

• Le système SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG doit être manipulé avec soin et être inspecté avant chaque utilisation.

• Lorsque vous rangez votre airbag, assurez-vous qu’aucun élément ne soit susceptible de le déchirer ou de l’endomma ger, de même que le système de gonflage et sa protection en tissu. Assurez-vous que l’airbag s’ouvre sans difficulté.

• Pliez l’airbag selon les instructions. Tout pliage incorrect peut empêcher l’ouverture de l’airbag et conduire à un dys fonctionnement qui pourrait endommager le sac à dos.

• SCOTT SPORTS SA ne saurait être tenu responsable des blessures causées par une avalanche lorsque le système SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG est utilisé.

• Pour ne pas vous mettre en péril, évitez les situations dangereuses.

• Éloignez les enfants du système SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG.

• Veillez à ne pas mettre votre entourage en danger lorsque vous activez l’airbag.

• Afin d’éviter une activation non souhaitée ou par inadvertance, qui risquerait de blesser les personnes alentours, nous vous recommandons de ranger la poignée de déclenchement dans le manchon de la bretelle pour vu d’un zip escamo table, tout spécialement lorsque vous êtes sur un télésiège, dans une télécabine, dans ou à proximité d’un hélicoptère, dans un bus, un train, une automobile, etc.

• Le système SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG ne remplace pas les équipements de secourisme conventionnels utilisés en cas d’avalanche : équipez-vous toujours d’appareils de recherche de victime d’avalanche, de pelles et de sondes lorsque vous faites du hors-piste.

• Le système SCOTT ALPRIDE E 1 AIRBAG doit toujours être propre. Un système de gonflage mal entretenu ne peut garantir le fonctionnement de l’airbag.

• Ne pas utiliser le SYSTÈME AIRBAG SCOTT ALPRIDE avec des systèmes de portage non autorisés (sac à dos, veste, etc.).

• Le système d’airbag Alpride E1 est en position ON ou OFF, et n’a aucune influence sur les balises d’avalanche. Il peut interférer avec les balises lors de son gonflage. Les balises d’avalanches sont extrêmement sensibles aux ondes élec triques et magnétiques. Afin d’atténuer les interférences , portez la balise sur le devant de votre corps. Ceci augmentera la distance entre le compresseur Alpride E 1 et la balise.

• Cet appareil peut être utilisé par des enfants de 8 ans ou plus, par des personnes à capacités physiques, sensorielles ou mentales réduites, ou par des personnes manquant d’expérience ou de connaissances appropriées, à condition que l’enfant ou la personne en question ait reçu des instructions et une supervision adaptée concernant l’utilisation de l’appareil de manière sécurisée, et qu’elle / il comprenne bien les dangers impliqués.

• Ne pas laisser les enfants jouer avec l’appareil.

SUPERCONDENSATEURS

Le système d’airbag anti-avalanche E1 est le premier airbag anti-avalanche qui fonctionne sans batterie au lithium-ion ou au lithium polymère pour alimenter le moteur électrique du compresseur.

Le système E1 utilise ses supercondensateurs pour emmagasiner de l’énergie sous forme de champ électrostatique. À la différence des batteries traditionnelles, il n’est pas nécessaire de créer une réaction chimique pour générer de l’énergie. Cela permet au système E1 de fournir la puissance de gonflage plus rapidement.

Les supercondensateurs du système E1 offrent de nombreux avantages comparés aux batteries. Tout d’abord, ils ne sont pas affectés par les variations de température, et offrent les mêmes per formances par -30 °C que par 50 °C . Cela permet d’optimiser le poids : à la différence des batteries, il n’est pas nécessaire de surdimensionner les supercondensateurs pour garantir leur bonne performance aux basses températures.

Alors que les batteries ont tendance à s’user à cause des chargements répétés, les supercondensateurs maintiennent leurs performances. Ils bénéficient d’une garantie de 500 000 cycles de chargement et d’une durée de vie presque illimitée. En cela, ils sont largement supérieurs aux 3 à 5 ans de durée de vie moyenne des batteries.

De plus, les supercondensateurs sont considérés comme des éléments électroniques passifs, comme les appareils photos, et ne sont donc pas sujets à restriction pour les voyages en avion, la livraison ou le stockage. Cela constitue un avantage majeur face aux batteries traditionnelles et aux systèmes à cartouches.

LE COMPRESSEUR RADIAL

Le système E1 utilise un compresseur radial comparable aux turbocompresseurs qu’on trouve dans les voitures. Cette conception permet une circulation de l’air et une pression de gonflage équivalentes à celles des systèmes d’airbag antiavalanche à cartouche d’air comprimé.

2 PILES AA

Le système à supercondensateurs E1 utilise deux piles AA, pour les deux raisons principales suivantes : 1- afin de recharger les supercondensateurs

2- pour ga rantir que les supercond ensateurs conservent l eur pleine pu issance, et pour compe nser leur lent déchargement

et assurer une autonomie de plusieurs mois (voir la section sur l’autonomie).

REMARQUE : N’utilisez que des piles alcalines ou lithium (piles AA), pour un rechargement rapide à très basses températures. Utilisez des piles alcalines AA / LR6, neuves et de première qualité. N’utilisez pas de piles AA zinc-carbone, ni d’accumulateurs Ni-Cd ou NiMH (rechargeables). Ces derniers ne seront généra lement pas assez puissants pour charger suffisamment les supercondensateurs.

En fonction de la technologie des piles AA, le rechargement et l’autonomie peuvent varier :

• Piles alcalines :

– capacité pour 1 recharge OU 3 mois d’autonomie à usage normal (1,5 mois si allumé de manière permanente). – il est fortement conseillé de changer de piles après chaque recharge du système.

• Piles au lithium :

– capacité pour 3 recharges OU 5 mois d’autonomie à usage normal (3 mois si allumé de manière permanente). – il est fortement conseillé de changer de piles après trois recharges du système.

PORT MICRO USB

Le port Micro USB (5 V – 2 A) permet de recharger les supercondensateurs à l’aide du câble USB / micro USB fourni. Le chargement peut être effectué à l’aide d’un chargeur USB standard (non inclus), tel que ceux utilisés pour les téléphones portables. La recharge des supercondensateurs à l’aide du c âble micro USB a l a priorité sur le chargement via les 2 piles AA. Les supercondensateurs peuvent être rechargés à l’aide du câble micro USB, même en l’absence de piles AA.

• V. ON / OFF ET AUTO-TEST

Pour allumer le système E1, utilisez l’interrupteur ON / OFF. Cet interrupteur de sécurité permet d’éviter une activation non désirée à l’intérieur du sac. Tirez l’interrupteur vers le haut, tournez-le dans le sens des aiguilles d’une montre et maintenez pendant 2 secondes. Chaque fois qu’il est allumé, le système E1 effectue un auto-test pour vérifier que le moteur, les supercondensateurs et les composants électroniques fonctionnent correctement.

Durant cet auto-test, le moteur effectue une première rotation à basse vitesse, ce qui allume la LED verte. Si l’auto -test est réussi, le moteur effectue une seconde rotation et la LED verte / orange se met à clignoter.

Le système est alors prêt à être utilisé.

Si l’auto -test détecte une défaillance, le moteur effectuera 4 rotations et la LED rouge restera allumée Le système a

un problème et n’est pas opérationnel.

Si le système détecte une défaillance alors qu’il est en train de charger, la LED rouge restera allumée et la LED orange

clignotera rapidement.

Pour éteindre le système (OFF), tirez l’interrupteur et tournez-le dans le sens des aiguilles d’une montre (même principe que pour l’allumer). Le moteur effectuera une rotation et la LED rouge s’allumera puis s’éteindra à nouveau pour indiquer que le système est désormais éteint.

UTILISATION SUR LE TERRAIN ET STATUT DES LED

Afin d’utiliser le système E1 sur le terrain, vous devrez : 1- Allumer (ON) le système E1 (voir section 2- Vérifier que l’auto-test est réussi (voir section

Si la LED verte clignote, le système est opérationnel et dispose d’au moins six heures d’autonomie. Si la LED orange clignote, le système est opérationnel, mais dispose d’une autonomie de moins de six heures. Si la LED rouge clignote, le système ne peut garantir un gonflage à 100 % (mais il tentera quand même de gonfler

l’airbag au maximum)

Si la LED rouge reste allumée, le système est défaillant et ne doit pas être utilisé.

REMARQUE : Un clignotement rapide de la LED peut indiquer qu e le système est en cours de chargement (2 clignotements par seconde), ou bien qu’il est en mode ON standard (1 clignotement toutes les 3 secondes). Pour activer le gonflage de l’airbag, tirez vigoureusement (entre 5 et 10 kg de traction) sur le câble de déclenchement.

• VI. GONFLAGE DE L’AIRBAG

En cas d’avalanche, tirez vigoureusement (entre 5 et 10 kg de traction) sur la poignée de déclenchement. L’airbag se gonflera en 3-4 secondes. Le compresseur sera opérationnel pendant six secondes, puis s’arrêtera. L’airbag restera gonflé pendant un délai minimum de trois minutes, puis commencera ensuite lentement à se dégonfler. Une fois le gonflage achevé, les supercondensateurs se rechargeront automatiquement grâce aux deux piles AA, si elles ont installées (voir section

REMARQUE : En accord avec la norme EN 16716 (« Certification des airbags anti-avalanche »), l’airbag doit rester gonflé pendant au moins trois minutes. Un airbag anti-avalanche n’est pas un gilet de sauvetage. Il est donc normal qu’il ne reste pas gonflé à pleine pression pendant plus de trois minutes.

UTILISATION LORS D’UNE AVALANCHE

En cas d’avalanche, essayez toujours d’atteindre un lieu sécurisé ou de vous écarter du passage du glissement de la neige. Si vous êtes sur des skis ou un snowboard, essayez de les retirer. Ces derniers provoquent un effet d’ancrage. Lorsque l’ava lanche semble ralentir, fermez la bouche et placez vos bras devant votre visage afin de créer une poche d’air de secours. Une fois que l’avalanche s’est arrêtée et que vous parvenez à vous extraire de la neige, ne retirez pas l’airbag et allez aider les autres. Ne retirez l’airbag que lorsqu’il vous semble que le risque d’une seconde avalanche est passé.

• VII. RECHARGE ET STATUT DU SYSTÈME

RECHARGER LES SUPERCONDENSATEURS

Il existe deux manières de recharger les supercondensateurs : 1- Introduisez les deux piles AA (non incluses). Les supercondensateurs se rechargeront automatiquement une fois les

piles en place. En fonction du type de piles et de la température, le chargement peut prendre entre 40 et 8 0 minutes.

2- Utilisez le por t micro USB et le câble micro USB standard (inclus). Le port USB peut être connecté à un chargeur stan

dard (non inclus), tel que ceux utilisés pour les téléphones por tables, ou à une batterie externe standard (power bank). En fonction du type de chargeur ou de batterie externe, le chargement peut prendre entre 20 et 40 minutes.

Le statut du chargement est indiqué par un clignotement rapide des LED (2 clignotements par seconde). Le niveau de chargement est indiqué par la couleur de la LED.

Rouge : charge f aible – le niveau de charge ne peut garantir le gonflage complet de l’airbag (mais il tentera quand même

de gonfler l’airbag au maximum).

Orange : charge moyenne – le niveau de charge garantit le gonflage complet de l’airbag, mais dispose de moins de six

heures d’autonomie.

Vert : chargement complet – la LED clignote lentement (1 fois toutes les 3 secondes).

REMARQUE :

• Avant la première utilisation, chargez le système à l’aide du port USB.

• Le chargement par câble USB est prioritaire sur les piles. Si les piles sont en place et le câble connecté, le chargement s’effectuera via le câble, sans que les piles interviennent.

• Le chargement par câble USB est également possible en l’absence de piles.

• Si le chargement est effectué en mode OFF (éteint), les LED ne clignoteront pas, mais le chargement continuera.

• Le système se recharge automatiquement. Si l’airbag est gonflé, le système débutera immédiatement le rechargement par l’intermédiaire des piles ou du port USB.

• Les 2 piles AA permettent 1 à 2 cycles de chargements des supercondensateurs (en fonction de la qualité des piles utilisées et de la température).

ATTENTION : Ne laissez pas le câble USB connecté en utilisant le système E1 sur le terrain. Une fois le chargement terminé, retirez le câble USB .

AUTONOMIE DU SYSTÈME E1

L’autonomie du système dépend de la qualité et de la puissance des piles AA, mais aussi de la fréquence et de la durée d’utilisation en modes ON ou OFF (allumé ou éteint). Les durées indiquées ci-dessous supposent l’utilisation de piles alca lines de haute qualité :

• Approximativement 2-3 mois d’autonomie avec deux piles alcalines AA neuves, sans compter de recharge des super condensateurs (nouvelles piles placées après le chargement des supercondensateurs).

• Le système peut être utilisé sans piles AA . Néanmoins , nous recommandons fortement d’utiliser systématiquement des piles pour garantir une autonomie plus longue. Si vous utilisez le système sans piles et que les LED clignotent en vert, l’autonomie est d’au moins 6 h.

• VIII. DÉGONFLER ET REPLIER L’AIRBAG

L’airbag doit être dégonflé à l’aide du bouton de dégonflage de l’airbag. Ce bouton de sécurité a été conçu pour empêcher que le bouton ne s’active accidentellement dans le sac à dos. Appuyez sur le bouton et tournez-le dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d’une montre. Une fois le bouton relâché, il reprend automatiquement sa position initiale pour ne pas rester en position dégonflé.

ATTENTION : Le compartiment du compresseur doit rester fermé afin d’éviter que des objets ne soient aspirés dans le compresseur, ce qui empêcherait le gonflage de l’airbag.

• IX. ARRIMAGE ET PARAMÉTRAGE CORRECTS

Mettez le sac à dos sur vos épaules, ajustez les bretelles. Attachez toujours la ceinture, la sangle de poitrine et la boucle de jambe, puis réglez-les. Le système SCOTT ALPRIDE E 1 AIRBAG ne vous sera utile que si le sac à dos reste bien en place durant les situations d’urgence. Son poids doit reposer principalement sur les hanches et non sur les épaules.

COMMENT RÉGLER LA POIGNÉE DE DÉCLENCHEMENT

1 Réglez la hauteur de la poignée de déclenchement sur la

bretelle. Trois diérents réglages sont disponibles (S/M/L). Idéalement, la poignée de déclenchement doit se trouver à hauteur de la poitrine.

2 Tournez la poignée vers

le haut aﬁn de modiﬁer sa hauteur.

3 Faites ensuite glisser

la poignée à gâchette de manière à la faire sortir de la boucle de la sangle et replacez-la à la hauteur correcte.

• X. INSTRUCTIONS

VÉRIFICATIONS D’USAGE

Votre sac à dos anti-avalanche SCOTT ALPRIDE AIRBAG ne nécessite pas de maintenance particulière. Vous devez toutefois respecter les consignes suivantes :

1- Déployez l’airbag avant de commencer votre saison, au moins une fois par an, ou encore après chaque exposition à

l’humidité / à un temps humide. Vérifiez son état, laissez-le sécher et repliez-le. 2- Ne rangez votre airbag que lorsqu’il est complètement sec. 3- Avant chaque sortie, vérifiez tous les points décrits dans ce manuel d’utilisation et inspectez l’état des sangles et

attaches de sécurité du système. Entraînez-vous à déployer l’airbag afin de vous habituer à la force que vous devez déployer pour effectuer la manœuvre.

Dans l’éventualité d’une avalanche, vous saurez comment procéder et agirez de manière intuitive.

• XI. MAINTENANCE

VÉRIFICATION POST-AVALANCHE

Chaque utilisation du système SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG peut causer des dommages matériels non visibles à l’œil nu. Après une utilisation durant un e avalanche, contactez le reve ndeur SCOTT ch ez qui vous avez acheté votre système SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG pour une inspection approfondie.

Si vous n’êtes pas en mesure d’envoyer votre système SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG, suivez les recommandations suivantes :

• Recherchez tout signe de crevaison

• Vérifiez que les sangles de l’airbag ne sont pas déchirées

• Vérifiez que les bretelles, la ceinture et la sangle de poitrine, ainsi que leurs coutures, ne sont pas déchirées

• Vérifiez l’ensemble des boucles (bretelles, ceinture et sangle de poitrine)

• Vérifiez que les boucles et les sangles de jambe ne sont pas déchirées ni déformées

COMMENT DÉTACHER LE SYSTÈME D’AIRBAG AMOVIBLE

Éteignez le système, ouvrez la fermeture éclair de l’airbag et détachez les crochets.

Ouvrez le sac à dos, le couvercle du compresseur et la poche de bretelle. Détachez la poignée de déclenchement.

Poussez la poignée de déclenchement et le câble à travers le trou. Ouvrez la fente Velcro.

Sortez le compresseur et l’airbag.

Ouvrez la fermeture éclair du compartiment de l’airbag jusqu’à environ 3 cm de la ﬁn.

Fermez le couvercle du compartiment à compresseur et attachez les crochets.

Passez la poignée de déclenchement par la fente velcro et introduisez-la dans la poche de bretelle. Passez l’airbag à travers les deux trous, jusqu’au compartiment à airbag.

Pliez l’airbag (voir section Attachez la poignée de déclenchement (voir section

RANGEMENT, NETTOYAGE ET DURÉE DE VIE

RANGEMENT

Rangez votre système SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG dans un environnement frais et sec. SCOTT Sports SA ne saurait être tenu responsable des dommages et pertes causés par un rangement inapproprié.

NETTOYAGE

Utilisez uniquement de l’eau (et non des produits de nettoyage) pour nettoyer votre sac à dos. Vérifiez que le produit est totalement sec avant de le réutiliser afin d’éviter les risques de gel. Si le gonfleur est sale, le système doit être nettoyé avec une ser viette humide en microfibre douce.

MISE AU REBUT

Met tez le produit au rebut avec les ordures ménagères. Ne détruisez pas le produit et ne l’incinérez pas, afin de ne pas

DURÉE DE VIE

Ce produit a une durée de vie limitée et doit être remplacé en cas d’usure mécanique . Nous vous recommandons de contrôler régulièrement votre dispositif et de le remplacer au moins cinq ans après une première utilisation. Le fonctionnement peut être amoindri du fait de l’usure mécanique ou d’une utilisation incorrecte. Mettez le produit au rebut si vous constatez tout dommage. Le système SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG est conçu pour supporter 50 gonflages.

• XII. TRANSPORT ET VOYAGE

Le système d’airbag SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 utilise seulement 2 piles AA. Le système d’airbag SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 ne possède ni batterie Li-Ion / Li-Po, ni cartouches de gaz sous pression, ni déclencheur pyrotechnique.

Le système d’airbag SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 n’est soumis à aucune restriction de voyage, et n’est pas considéré comme une marchandise dangereuse relativement aux Réglementations sur le transport de marchandises dangereuses.

Bien qu’il n’y ait aucune restriction vous empêchant de voyager avec le système d’airbag SCOTT ALPRIDE E1, nous vous recommandons (afin d’éviter tout malentendu avec les agents de sécurité des aéroports) d’informer votre compagnie aérienne que vous voyagez avec un airbag anti-avalanche électrique SANS batterie. Le système d’airbag SCOTT ALPRIDE E1 dispose d’un système de valve de réduction de pression.

Tous les sacs à dos homologués sont marqués avec les étiquettes correspondantes, indiquant qu’ils ont passé avec succès les tests officiels. Elles sont apposées de manière visible et ne doivent pas être enlevées.
