The Scientific Industries’ Bag Rotator is a powerful and rugged rotator for effective mixing of transfer packs or random sealed bags, maintaining platelets and other sample components in suspension without risk of damage. It runs at a fixed speed of 3RPM in order to maintain donor platelets in even suspension throughout blood plasma. It will turn up to 40 standard 300ml transfer packs in an end-over-end motion, gently agitating the plasma to minimize cellular trauma and prevent clumping.
The Bag Rotator will provide years of very reliable service and satisfaction. Durable construction and a brushless motor ensure that the Bag Rotator will give you years of maintenance free life.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1) Place the Scientific Industries Bag Rotator on a sturdy, level work surface.
2) Connect the power cord to a properly grounded three-pronged receptacle. 120V for the SI-1000 model; 230V for the SI-1001, through SI-1004 and SI-1006 models.
3) Install the wire basket if not already installed. a) Remove (unscrew) the black plastic screw on the right side
of the unit.
b) Orient the wire basket with the disk with two small holes only
to the left and the disk with two small holes and a large hole to the right.
c) Place the basket in the unit with the two small holes on the
left over the two small pins on the left of the unit.
d) Screw in the black plastic screw while aligning the wire
basket so that the screw goes into the larger hole in the disk.
4) Turn on the Rotator and let the wire basket rotate until the side with the door opening is facing up. Do not rotate the basket manually! This will result in damage to the internal motor gears.
5) Open hinged door of the wire basket by lifting front of door.
6) Place up to 5 transfer packs (or other bags) into each of the eight compartments (for a maximum of 40 packs). Close basket.
CALIBRATION
The Scientific Industries Bag Rotator is factory calibrated to 3RPM, so calibration should not be necessary. However, if calibration is required, the set speed can be adjusted by turning the trim pot located on the rear of the unit.
CAUTION! During operation, switch motor off prior to removing or adding packs. Stopping the rotation with hand pressure shortens motor life and will damage mechanism. Make sure basket latch is secure before restarting unit.
CAUTION! Do not lift your Bag Rotator by the wire Basket.
CAUTION! Failure to follow operating instructions can compromise the user’s safety.
Care and Handling
Your Bag Rotator should be given the care normally required for any electrical appliance. Avoid wetting or unnecessary exposure to fumes. The finish can be washed with water (after unplugging) and soap or detergents, using a cloth or sponge. Replacement parts are available through your laboratory equipment distributor.
The wire basket is removable from the unit for cleaning.
CAUTION! Unplug from power before cleaning. Do not immerse.
