1. Sicherheit

1.1 Symbolerklärung

Dieses Symbol ist überall dort zu finden wo
besondere Gefahren für Personen oder Beschädi­gungen der Einheit möglich sind.

1.2 Bestimmungsgemäßer Gebrauch

Das Produkt ist zum Ein-/Anbau für Maschinen bzw. Anlagen be­stimmt. Die Anforderungen der zutreffenden Richtlinien müssen
beachtet und eingehalten werden.

Das Produkt darf ausschließlich im Rahmen seiner technischen
Daten verwendet werden.

Ein darüberhinausgehender Gebrauch gilt als nicht bestim­mungsgemäß. Für Schäden aus einem solchen Gebrauch haftet
der Hersteller nicht.

1.3 Umgebungs- und Einsatzbedingungen

– Die Einheit nur innerhalb der im Technischen Katalog defi-

nierten Einsatzparameter einsetzen. Es gilt jeweils die letzte
Fassung (lt. Kapitel 2.3 AGB). Bitte prüfen Sie, ob Ihr Ein­satzfall anhand des aktuellen SCHUNK-Berechnungs­programms geprüft wurde. Ist dies nicht der Fall, kann keine

Gewährleistung übernommen werden.
– Anforderung an die Druckluftqualität nach ISO 8573-1: 6 4 4.
– Vorraussetzung sind saubere Umgebungsbedingungen bei

Raumtemperatur. Sollte dies nicht eingehalten werden, ver-

ringert sich je nach Anwendungsfall das Wartungsintervall.
– Die Umgebung muss frei von Spritzwasser und Dämpfen,

sowie von Abriebs- oder Prozessstäuben sein. Ausgenommen

hiervon sind Einheiten, die speziell für verschmutzte Umge-

bungen ausgelegt sind.

1.4 Sicherheitshinweise

1. Die Einheit ist nach dem Stand der Technik zum Zeitpunkt der

Auslieferung gebaut und betriebssicher. Gefahren können von

ihr jedoch ausgehen, wenn z.B.:

die Einheit unsachgemäß eingesetzt, montiert, gewartet oder

zum nicht bestimmungsgemäßen Gebrauch eingesetzt wird.

die EG-Maschinenrichtlinie, die UVV, die VDE-Richtlinien, die

Sicherheits- und Montagehinweise nicht beachtet werden.

2. Jeder, der für die Montage, Inbetriebnahme und Instand-

haltung zuständig ist, muss die komplette Betriebsanleitung,

besonders das Kapitel 1 »Sicherheit«, gelesen und verstan-

den haben. Dem Kunden wird empfohlen, sich dies schriftlich

bestätigen zu lassen.

3. Der Ein- und Ausbau, die Montage der Näherungsschalter,

das Anschließen und die Inbetriebnahme darf nur von auto-

risiertem Personal durchgeführt werden.

4. Arbeitsweisen, die die Funktion und Betriebssicherheit der

Einheit beeinträchtigen, sind zu unterlassen.

5. Keine Teile von Hand bewegen, wenn die Energie­versorgung angeschlossen ist.

6. Nicht in die offene Mechanik und den Bewegungs­bereich der Einheit greifen.

1. Safety

1.1 Symbol key

This symbol is displayed wherever there is a
danger of injury or where the unit may suffer
damage.

1.2 Appropriate use

The unit is intended for installation / mounting for machinery and
equipment. The requirements of the applicable directives must be
observed and complied with.

The unit may only ever be employed within the restrictions of its
technical specifications.

Using the system with disregard to even a minor specification will
be deemed inappropriate use. The manufacturer assumes no lia­bility for any injury or damage resulting from inappropriate use.

1.3 Environmental and operating conditions

– Use the unit only within the application parameters defined in

the Technical Catalog. The most recent version applies (ac­cording to the General Terms and Conditions). Please make
sure that your application has been checked based on the cur­rent SCHUNK calculation program. If this is not the case, we
can provide no warranty.

– Standard for quality of the compressed air according to ISO

8573-1: 6 4 4.

– Clean ambient conditions at room temperature are required. If

these conditions are not ensured, the maintenance interval will
be shorter, depending on the actual utilization.

– The environment must be free of splashing water and vapors,

and also of abrasive dust and process dust. This does not
apply to units designed especially for dirty environments.

1.4 Safety information

1. The unit is built according to the level of technology available
at the time of delivery and is safe to operate. However, the unit
may still be dangerous if, for example:

the unit is used, assembled or maintained inappropriately or is
used for purposes other than those it is intended for.

the EC Machine Directive, the accident prevention regulations,
the VDE guidelines, or the safety information and assembly
instructions are not heeded.

2. Any persons who may be responsible for assembly, commis­sioning and maintenance of the unit are obliged to have read
and understood all of the operating instructions, in particular
chapter 1 “Safety”. We recommend that the customer have
this confirmed in writing.

3. The installation, deinstallation, assembly of all motion detec­tors, connection and commissioning may only be performed
by authorized, appropriately trained personnel.

4. Modes of operation that adversely affect the function and/or
the operational safety of the unit are to be refrained from.

5. Never move any parts by hand as long as the power
supply is connected.

6. Never reach into uncovered mechanisms and never
reach in the swivelling area of the unit.

7. Bei Montage-, Umbau-, Wartungs- und Einstellarbeiten
sind die Energiezuführungen zu entfernen.

8. Wartung, Um- oder Anbauten außerhalb der Gefah­renzone durchführen.

9. Bei Ein- und Ausbau, Montage, Anschließen, Einstel­len, Inbetriebnehmen und Testen muss sichergestellt
sein, dass ein versehentliches Betätigen der Einheit
durch den Monteur oder andere Personen ausge­schlossen ist.

10. Beim Einsatz aller Handhabungsmodule müssen

Schutzabdeckungen gemäß EG-Maschinenrichtlinie
Punkt 1.4 vorgesehen werden.

11. Es bestehen Gefahren durch herabfallende und

herausgeschleuderte Gegenstände. Treffen Sie Vor­kehrungen, um das Herabfallen oder das Heraus­schleudern von eventuell gefährlichen Gegenständen
(bearbeitete Werkstücke, Werkzeuge, Späne, Bruch­stücke, Abfälle usw.) zu vermeiden.

12. Bei Einheiten mit innenliegenden Federn können

Teile unter Federspannung stehen. Beim Zerlegen

einer solchen Einheit ist daher besondere Vor­sicht geboten.

13. Bei »Not-Aus« kann sich die Einheit durch einen

Druckabfall noch bewegen. Ist diese Bewegung
nicht erwünscht, kann durch den Einsatz der
SCHUNK SDV-P-Ventile die Stellung der Einheit bei
»Not-Aus« in jeder Endposition kurzzeitig gesichert
werden.

14. Zusätzliche Bohrungen, Gewinde oder Anbauten, die nicht als
Zubehör von SCHUNK angeboten werden, dürfen nur mit Ge­nehmigung der Fa. SCHUNK angebracht werden.

15. Darüber hinaus gelten die am Einsatzort gültigen Sicher­heits- und Unfallverhütungsvorschriften.

7. Always disconnect the power supply lines during as­sembly, conversion, maintenance and setting work.

8. Always carry out maintenance work, conversions and
attachments outside of the danger zone.

9. During assembly, connection, setting, commissioning
and testing, it is imperative to exclude the possibility
that the fitter or any other person could accidentally ac­tivate the unit.

10. When using handling modules, protective covers

must be used according to EC Machine Directive,
Point 1.4.

11. There is a danger of injury and a risk of damages due

to falling and catapulted components. Precautions
must be taken to prevent any potentially dangerous
objects (processed workpieces, tools, chips, debris,
waste etc.) from falling or being catapulted out of the
unit.

12. Some parts of units which are equipped with internal

springs are subject to spring tension. Therefore, spe-

cial care must be taken when dismantling such
units.

13. In case of an “emergency stop”, the unit may conti-

nue to move. If SCHUNK SDV-P valves are used, the
final position of an “emergency stop” can be secu­red temporary in any end position.

14. Additional holes, threads or attachments which are not sup­plied as accessories by SCHUNK may only be applied after
obtaining the prior consent of SCHUNK.

15. Above and beyond that, the safety and accident prevention
regulations in force at the location of use apply.

2. Gewährleistung

Die Gewährleistung beträgt 24 Monate ab Lieferdatum Werk bei
bestimmungsgemäßem Gebrauch unter Beachtung der vorge­schriebenen Wartungs- und Schmierintervalle und der definier­ten Umgebungs- und Einsatzbedingungen (siehe Kapitel 1.3).
Grundsätzlich sind werkstücksberührende Teile und Verschleiß­teile nicht Bestandteil der Gewährleistung. Verschleißteile sind im
Kapitel Dichtsatz- und Ersatzteilstücklisten als solche gekenn­zeichnet. Beachten Sie hierzu auch unsere Allgemeinen Ge­schäftsbedingungen (AGB). Diese finden Sie auf unserer
Webseite www.de.schunk.com unter »Service« bei den »Ver­kaufs- und Lieferbedingungen«.
Die Einheit gilt dann als defekt, wenn deren Grundfunktion Greifen
oder Schwenken nicht mehr gegeben ist.

2. Warranty

The warranty period is 24 months from the date of delivery when
utilized as intended operations in compliance with the specified
maintenance and lubrication intervals and the defined
environmental and operating conditions (see Chapter 1.3).
Parts that come into contact with the workpiece and wearing parts
are not covered by the warranty. Wearing parts are designated ac­cordingly in the Seal kit and spare parts lists.

The unit is considered defective when the basic gripping or rotary
function is inoperable.

calculated by means of the “SCHUNK calculation program selec­tion system for Swivel Units”. If not, there will be no guarantee on
this application.

5. Montage

ACHTUNG!

Bei der Montage des Schwenkkopfes muss die
Energieversorgung abgeschaltet sein. Beachten Sie
auch die Sicherheitshinweise auf den Seiten 3 und 4.

Befestigung des Schwenkkopfes

– Der Schwenkkopf kann an den sechs Innengewinden M6

befestigt werden oder

– mit den Durchgangsschrauben M5 x 20 aus dem Beipack.
Zur Zentrierung können 2 Senkungen Ø 10H7und die Hülsen aus

dem Beipack verwendet werden.

Montage der Adapterplatten an den Schwenkkörper

– Adapterplatten können entweder direkt an den sechs Innen-

gewinden M6 der Schwenkkörper-Anschraubflächen befestigt
werden oder

– mit den Durchgangsschrauben M5 x 16 aus dem Beipack.
Zur Zentrierung können 2 Senkungen Ø 10H7und die Hülsen aus

dem Beipack verwendet werden.

6. Luftanschluss

ACHTUNG!

Beim Anschließen muss die Energieversorgung ab­geschaltet sein. Beachten Sie auch die Sicherheits­hinweise auf den Seiten 3 und 4.

Druckmittel: Druckluft

Anforderung an die Druckluftqualität nach ISO 8573-1: 6 4 4.

5. Assembly

CAUTION!

Before mounting of swivel head unplug the machine
or otherwise remove the power source. Please ob­serve the safety instructions pages 3 and 4.

Fastening of the swivelling head

– The swivelling head can be fastened at six female threads

M6 or

– with through bolts M5 x 20 out of the supplied accessories
For centering, 2 countersunks Ø 10H7and the sleeves out of the

supplied accessories pack can be used.

Assembly of the adaptor plates onto the swivelling bodies

– adaptor plates may be fastened directly at the six female

threads M6 at the backplate of the swivel body or

– with the through bolts M5 x 16 out of the little plastic bag.
For centering the 2 countersunks Ø 10H7and the sleeves out of

the supplied accessories pack can be used.

6. Air connection

CAUTION!

During connection, the power supply must be swit­ched off. Please observe the safety instructions
pages 3 and 4.

Pressure medium: compressed air

Standard for quality of the compressed air according to ISO 8573­1: 6 4 4.

Die Luftanschlüsse für die Schwenkbewegung sind mit Drossel­rückschlagventilen ausgerüstet. Diese dienen zur Einstellung der
Drehgeschwindigkeit die am fertig montierten System eingestellt
werden muss.

Interne Energiedurchführung:

Die Anschlüsse für die interne Energiedurchführung sind ge­kennzeichnet (Nr. 1 – 4). Zum Anschluss am Schwenkkörper sind
vier O-Ringe Ø 3 x 1 im Beipack enthalten. (Die Senkungen für
die O-Ringe Ø 5 x 0.5 tief müssen in die Adapterplatten einge­bracht werden).

7. Anschlussplan

7.1 Anschlussplan der 2-fach Verteiler

(Ident-Nr. 308 221 / 308 222)

Zum Übertragen von elektrischen Signalen ist der Schwenkkopf
mit zwei 2-fach Verteiler mit integriertem Kabel ausgestattet. Die
Verteiler sind rechts und links am Schwenkkörper montiert. Die
Kabel werden durch das Ritzel aus dem Schwenkkopf herausge­führt.

ACHTUNG!

Lassen Sie dem Kabeln soviel Spielraum wie mög­lich. Befestigen Sie die Kabel erst ca. 300 mm nach
Austritt aus dem PSK 22. Bilden Sie, wenn möglich,
eine Entlastungsspirale um ein Verdrillen der Kabel
zu verhindern.

The air connections for the swivel movement are equipped with
one-way restrictors. These are used for adjustment of the rotatio­nal speed which has to be adjusted to the ready mounted system.

Internal energy feeding:

The connections for the internal energy through feeding are mar­ked (No. 1 – 4). For connection at the swivelling body the four O­rings Ø 3 x 1 out of the little plastic bag can be used. (The coun­tersunks for O-ring Ø 5 x 0.5 deep have to be inserted into the
adaptor plate).

7. Connection diagram

7.1 Connection diagram for two-fold

distributors (Id.-No. 308 221 / 308 222)

For transmission of electric signals the swivel head is equipped
with 2 two-fold distributors with an integrated cable. The distribu­tors are mounted on the right and left side of the swivelling body.
The cables are led out of the swivel head through the pinion.

8. Adjusting the swivel angle

Fine adjustment of the end position 0° and 180°

(For item-no. see chapter 11. Assembly)

1. Actuate one connection until the swivel unit reaches its end

position.

2. Loosen the counternut (item 72) at the opposing connection

and turn the adjusting screw (item 5) until the required end
position is achieved.

3. Fasten the counternut (item 72) again and check the end

position.

Repeat this procedure for the 2nd position.

9. Trouble shooting

Swivel head does not move:

– Check power supply
– Connections are misaligned
– No control impulse
– Payload too high
– Proximity switch is defective

Swivel head stops in an intermediate position without any
external influence:

– Return swivel head to SCHUNK for inspection

10. Wartung und Pflege

ACHTUNG!

Beachten Sie unbedingt die Sicherheitshinweise auf
den Seiten 3 und 4.

Um die Funktion des Schwenkkopfes zu erhalten, beachten Sie
bitte folgende Hinweise:

1.

Anforderung an die Druckluftqualität nach ISO 8573-1: 6 4 4.

2. Blanke, außenliegende Stahlteile müssen geölt oder gefettet
werden.

3. Warten Sie den Schwenkkopf alle 2 Mio. Zyklen. Bei der
Wartung sind bestimmte Teile mit Öl bzw. Fett zu montieren
(Grundfettung).
a) Alle metallischen Gleitflächen müssen mit Molykote BR 2

plus oder einem gleichwertigen Schmierstoff behandelt
werden.

b) Die Kolbenbohrung sowie alle Dichtungen mit Renolit

HLT 2 oder einem gleichwertigen Schmierstoff behandeln.

4. Bei jeder Wartung des Schwenkkopfes sind alle Dichtungen
(siehe Dichtsatzliste Kapitel 12.1) zu erneuern.
Der komplette Dichtsatz ist bei SCHUNK erhältlich.

5. Soweit nicht anders vorgeschrieben, sind alle Schrauben und
Muttern mit einem Anzugsmoment gemäß DIN anzuziehen
und mit Loctite Nr. 243 zu sichern.

CAUTION!

Please consider our safety instructions on pages
3 and 4.

In order to maintain the proper function of the swivel head, plea­se observe the following notes:

1. Standard for quality of the compressed air according to ISO
8573-1: 6 4 4.

2. Smooth external steel parts must be oiled or greased.

3. The swivel unit should be serviced every two million cycles.
During maintenance, certain parts should be fitted with oil or
grease (basic lubrication).
a) All metal sliding areas must be treated with Molykote BR 2

plus or a similar lubricant.

b) The piston bore and all seals must be treated with Renolit

HLT 2 or a similar lubricant.

4. During every servicing of the swivel head, all the seals should
be replaced (see seal kit list chapter 12.1).
The complete seal kit is available from SCHUNK.

5. Provided that no differing regulations apply, all screws and
nuts have to be tightened with a tightening torque as per DIN
and must be secured with Loctite 243.

10.1 Disassembly of the swivel unit

(For item-no. see chapter 11. Assembly)

1. Entfernen Sie die Druckleitungen.

2. Entfernen Sie die Näherungsschalter.

3. Drehen Sie die Kabelverschraubung (Pos. 39) heraus und
entfernen Sie den Haltering (Pos 31).

4. Drehen Sie beidseitig die Gewindestifte (Pos. 84) heraus und
entfernen Sie den Stopfen (Pos. 18) mit Hilfe des
Innengewindes M4.

5. Lösen Sie die Schrauben (Pos. 70 und 76) und ziehen
Sie vorsichtig den Schwenkkörper (Pos. 21) ab. Die Kabel
(Pos. 110) werden mit herausgezogen. Unterstützen Sie das
Herausziehen der Kabel durch leichtes Schieben!

6. Lösen Sie die Schrauben (Pos. 69) und ziehen Sie den
Anschraubwinkel (Pos. 19) ab.

7. Schrauben Sie die Deckel (Pos. 3 / 37 und 38) ab.

8. Markieren Sie die Einbaulage des Ritzels (Pos. 15) und der
Kolben (Pos. 2).

9. Demontieren Sie den Sicherungsring (Pos. 85).

10. Drücken Sie das Ritzel (Pos. 15) aus dem Gehäuse.

11. Schieben Sie die Kolben (Pos. 2) aus dem Gehäuse.

12. Entfernen Sie alle Dichtungen.

13. Reinigen Sie alle Teile gründlich und kontrollieren Sie alle
Teile auf Defekt und Verschleiß.

14. Erneuern Sie alle Dichtungen laut Dichtsatzliste (Kapitel

12.1).

Der Zusammenbau erfolgt in umgekehrter Reihenfolge.

ACHTUNG!

Beschädigen Sie beim Zusammenbau keine
Dichtungen und Kabel!

1. Remove the pressure lines.

2. Remove the proximity switches.

3. Loosen screwed cable gland (item 39) and remove the
bracket (item 31).

4. Turn out the set-screws on both sides (item 84) and remove
the plug (item 18) by means of the female thread M4.

5. Loosen the screws (item 70 and 76) and carefully draw out
the swivel body (item 21). The cables (item 110) are drawn
out as well. Support the draw out of the cable by slight pus­hing!

6. Untighten the screws (item 69) and draw out the angular
mounting plate (item 19).

7. Unscrew the cover (item 3 / 37 and 38).

8. Mark the installation position of the pinion (item 15) and of
the piston (item 2).

9. Disassemble the safety ring (item 85).

10. Press the pinion (item 15) out of the housing.

11. Push the piston (item 2) out of the housing.

12. Remove all seals.

13. Clean all parts thoroughly and check all parts for defects and
wear.

14. Replace all seals according to the seal kit list (see chapter

12.1).

The swivel head is assembled in reverse order.

CAUTION!

Do not damage the seals or the cable during assem­bly work!

HINWEIS:

Die Näherungsschalter sind Zubehör und müssen gesondert
bestellt werden.

Achten Sie auf einen sachgemäßen Umgang mit den
Näherungsschaltern:

– Ziehen Sie nicht am Kabel und lassen Sie den Sensor nicht am

Kabel baumeln.

– Ziehen Sie die Befestigungsschraube oder -klemmen nicht

übermäßig fest an.
– Zulässiger Biegeradius des Kabels = 15 x Kabeldurchmesser.
– Vermeiden Sie Kontakt der Näherungsschalter zu harten Ge-

genständen, sowie zu Chemikalien, insbesondere Salpeter-,

Chrom- und Schwefelsäure.

Die eingesetzten induktiven Näherungsschalter sind verpolungs­geschützt und kurzschlussfest.

ACHTUNG!

Die Näherungsschalter sind elektronische Bauteile,
welche empfindlich auf hochfrequente Störungen
oder elektromagnetische Felder reagieren können.
Prüfen Sie die Anbringung und Installation des
Kabels. Der Abstand zu hochfrequenten Störquellen
und deren Zuleitung muss ausreichend sein.
Das Parallelschalten mehrerer Sensorausgänge der
gleichen Bauart (npn, pnp) ist zwar erlaubt, erhöht
aber nicht den zulässigen Laststrom. Beachten Sie
weiterhin, dass sich der Leckstrom der einzelnen
Sensoren (ca. 2 mA) addiert.

NOTE:

Proximity switches are accessories and have to be ordered sepa­rately.

Make sure that the proximity switches will be properly handled:
– Do not pull the wire of the proximity switch and don’t swing it

on its cable.

– Do not tighten the fastening screw or the anchoring clip too

strong.
– Admissible bending radius of the cable = 15 x cable diameter.
– Do not allow the sensor to make contact with a detectable

object of a hard substance or to chemicals, especially nitric

acid, chromic acid and sulfure acid.

The proximity switches used are short circuit proof and have
reverse battery protection.

CAUTION!

Proximity switches are electronic components which
can react sensitively to high-frequency interference
or electromagnetic fields. Check the attachment and
installation of the cable. The distance to high fre­quency sources of interference and their feed lines
must be sufficiently great.
Connecting several sensor outputs of the same type
(npn, pnp) in parallel is allowed, but this does not
increase the permissible load current. Moreover,
please note that the leakage current of the individual
sensors (approx. 2 mA) must be added together.

Montage der Näherungsschalter

(Pos.-Nr. siehe Kapitel 11. Zusammenbau)

ACHTUNG!

Bei Montagearbeiten muss die Energieversorgung
abgeschaltet sein. Beachten Sie auch die Sicher­heitshinweise auf den Seiten 3 und 4.

1. Zur Montage bzw. Demontage der Näherungsschalter ist der
Schwenkkopf zunächst von Hand auf 90° Stellung zu drehen.

2. Demontieren Sie die Halterungen Pos. 23 und Pos. 24 durch
Entfernen der Schrauben Pos. 66 und Pos. 67.

3. Setzen Sie die Näherungsschalter in die dafür im Gehäuse
(Pos. 1) vorgesehenen Nuten ein und Klemmen sie diese mit
dem Halter Pos.23.

4. Fixieren Sie die Kabel der Näherungsschalter mit dem Halter
Pos. 24.

5. Drehen Sie den Schwenkkopf in 0°- und 180°­Stellung und prüfen Sie, daß die Abfragegewinde­stifte Pos.10 nicht mit den Näherungsschaltern kolli­dieren oder streifen.

HINWEIS:

Werksseitig sind die Gewindestifte auf den optimalen Schalt­abstand eingestellt. Kommt es dennoch zur Kollision, prüfen Sie
ob die Näherungsschalter vollständig eingesetzt sind, erst dann
sollte der Gewindestift Pos. 10 zurückgedreht werden. In diesem
Fall ist er erneut mit geeignetem Klebstoff zu sichern.

ACHTUNG!

Stellen Sie beim Betrieb des Schwenkkopfes sicher,
dass die Kabel der Näherungsschalter nicht in den
Schwenkbereich ragen.

Mounting of proximity switches

(For item-no. see chapter 11. Assembly)

CAUTION!

Switch off the energy supply before assembly.
Please also consider the safety hints on pages 3
and 4.

1. For assembly or disassembly of the proximity switches, the
swivel head has to be turned manually onto the 90°-position.

2. Detach the brackets item 23 and item 24 by removing the scr­ews item 66 and item 67.

3. Insert the proximity switch into the grooves of the housing
(item 1) and jam them with the bracket item 23.

4. Fasten the cable of the proximity switch with the bracket
item 24.

5. Turn the swivel head into the 0°- and 180°-posi­tion and make sure that the set screws for monitoring
item 10 won’t runs a crash with the proximity switch
or will contact it.

NOTE:

The set-screws are adjusted onto the best sensing distance when
the units leave SCHUNK. However, if the unit should run a crash,
please check if the proximity switches are fully used. Then the set
screw item 10 can be turned back. In this case, the set-screws
have to be secured with a suitable glue, again.

CAUTION!

When operating the swivel head, please make sure
that the cable of the proximity switch do not project
into the swivelling area.
