SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS – Charge the Instant Power™ internal battery

immediately after purchase, after every use and every 30 days. This manual will show
you how to use your Instant Power™ safely and effectively. Please read, understand
and follow these instructions and precautions carefully, as this manual contains
important safety and operating instructions. The safety messages used throughout this
manual contain a signal word, a message and an icon.

The signal word indicates the level of the hazard in a situation.

Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in
death or serious injury to the operator or bystanders.

Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in

1. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS – SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

This manual contains important safety and operating instructions.

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK OR FIRE.

1.1 Read the entire manual before using this product. Failure

to do so could result in serious injury or death.

1.2 This Instant Power™ is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental

capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they
have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the Instant Power™
by a person responsible for their safety.

1.3 Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the Instant Power™.

1.4 Do not put ngers or hands into any of the Instant Power’s™ outlets.

1.5 Do not expose the Instant Power™ to rain or snow.

1.6 Use only recommended attachments. Use of an attachment not recommended or sold

by Schumacher® Electric Corporation may result in a risk of re, electric shock or injury
to persons or damage to property.

1.7 Do not operate the Instant Power™ with damaged cables or clips; have the cable or

clip replaced immediately by a qualied service person.

1.8 Do not operate the Instant Power™ if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped or

otherwise damaged in any way; take it to a qualied service person.

1.9 Do not disassemble the Instant Power™; take it to a qualied service person when service

or repair is required. Incorrect reassembly may result in a risk of re or electric shock.

1.10 WORKING IN THE VICINITY OF A LEAD-ACID BATTERY IS

DANGEROUS. BATTERIES GENERATE EXPLOSIVE GASES DURING
NORMAL BATTERY OPERATION. FOR THIS REASON, IT IS OF UTMOST
IMPORTANCE THAT YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS EACH TIME YOU
USE THE INSTANT POWER™.

1.11 To reduce the risk of a battery explosion, follow these instructions and those published by

the battery manufacturer and the manufacturer of any equipment you intend to use in the
vicinity of the battery. Review the cautionary markings on these products and on the engine.

1.12 This Instant Power™ employs parts, such as switches and circuit breakers, that tend to

produce arcs and sparks. If used in a garage, locate this Instant Power™ 18 inches (46

cm) or more above oor level.

2. PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS
RISK OF EXPLOSIVE GASES. A SPARK NEAR

THE BATTERY MAY CAUSE A BATTERY
EXPLOSION. TO REDUCE THE RISK OF A
SPARK NEAR THE BATTERY:

2.1 NEVER smoke or allow a spark or ame in

the vicinity of a battery or engine.

2.2 Remove personal metal items such as rings, bracelets, necklaces and watches when

working with a lead-acid battery. A lead-acid battery can produce a short-circuit current
high enough to weld a ring or the like to metal, causing a severe burn.

2.3 Be extra cautious, to reduce the risk of dropping a metal tool onto the battery. It might

spark or short-circuit the battery or other electrical part that may cause an explosion.

2.4 Do not permit the internal battery of the Instant Power™ to freeze. Never charge a

frozen battery.

2.5 To prevent sparking, NEVER allow clips to touch together or contact the same piece

of metal.

2.6 Consider having someone nearby to come to your aid when you work near a

lead-acid battery.

2.7 Have plenty of fresh water and soap nearby in case battery acid contacts your skin,

clothing or eyes.

2.8 Wear complete eye and body protection, including safety goggles and protective

clothing. Avoid touching your eyes while working near the battery.

2.9 If battery acid contacts your skin or clothing, immediately wash the area with soap and

water. If acid enters your eye, immediately ood the eye with cold running water for at

least 10 minutes and get medical attention right away.

2.10 If battery acid is accidentally swallowed, drink milk, the whites of eggs or water. DO NOT

induce vomiting. Seek medical attention immediately.

3. PREPARING TO USE THE INSTANT POWER™

RISK OF ONTACT WITH BATTERY ACID. BATTERY ACID IS A
HIGHLY CORROSIVE SULFURIC ACID.

3.1 Be sure the area around the battery is well ventilated while

the Instant Power™ is being used.

3.2 Clean the battery terminals before using the Instant

Power™. During cleaning, keep airborne corrosion from coming into contact with your
eyes, nose and mouth. Use baking soda and water to neutralize the battery acid and
help eliminate airborne corrosion. Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth.

3.3 Determine the voltage of the battery by referring to the vehicle owner’s manual and

make sure that the output voltage of the Instant Power™ is correct.

3.4 Make sure that the Instant Power™ cable clips make tight connections.

4. CHARGER AND AC POWER CORD CONNECTIONS

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK OR FIRE.

4.1 The Instant Power™ charger is for use on a nominal 120-

volt circuit. The plug must be plugged into an outlet that is properly
installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and

ordinances. The plug pins must t the receptacle (outlet). Do not

use with an ungrounded system. NOTE: Pursuant to Canadian
Regulations, use of an adapter plug is not allowed in Canada. Use

of an adapter plug in the United States is not recommended and should not be used.

5. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Remove all cord wraps and uncoil the cables prior to using the Instant Power™.

7. CHARGING THE INTERNAL BATTERY OF THE INSTANT POWER™

IMPORTANT: CHARGE IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE, AFTER EACH USE AND
EVERY 30 DAYS TO KEEP THE INSTANT POWER™ INTERNAL BATTERY FULLY
CHARGED.

7.1 Use of an improper extension cord could result in a risk of re and electric shock. When

an extension cord is used, make sure:

• That the pins on the plug of the extension cord are the same number, size and shape
as those of the plug on the Instant Power™ charger.

• That the extension cord is properly wired and in good electrical condition.

• That the extension cord has a wire size of 18 gauge (AWG) [0.82 mm2] or larger and

is 50 feet (15.24 meters) long or less.

7.2 To reduce the risk of electric shock, unplug the Instant Power™ charger from the outlet

before attempting any maintenance or cleaning. Simply turning off the controls will not
reduce this risk.

7.3 When charging the internal battery, work in a well ventilated area and do not restrict the

ventilation in any way.

7.4 LED Indicators:

To check the internal battery’s charge status, press the Battery Status button on the front
of the Instant Power™.

The LED lights will indicate the charge level as follows:

• A red LED indicates a 50% or less charge and you should immediately recharge the
Instant Power™.

• A yellow LED indicates a 50 to 75% charge. The Instant Power™ may be used but
should be recharged as soon as possible.

• A green LED indicates the internal battery is fully charged.

• The CHARGING (red) LED indicates the Instant Power™ is charging (connected to

an AC power source.) At full charge, the CHARGED (green) LED will light.

7.5 Charging the Internal Battery using the Built-In Charger:

1. To charge, plug an 18 gauge (AWG) [0.82 mm2] or larger extension cord into the

charger plug on the back of the Instant Power™. (Extension cord not included; must
be purchased separately.)

2. Plug the extension cord into a 120V AC electrical wall outlet.

3. The CHARGING (red) LED will glow, indicating charging.

4. The CHARGED (green) LED will light when the battery has reached full charge. This

could take up to 72 hours, depending on the age and condition of the battery.

5. Charge the Instant Power™ as soon as possible after use.
NOTE: To reduce the risk of damage to the electric plug or cord, pull by the plug rather

than the cord when disconnecting the Instant Power™ charger.

Do not use the Instant Power™ while charging the internal battery.

8. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

8.1 Jump Starting a Vehicle Engine
A SPARK NEAR THE BATTERY MAY CAUSE A

BATTERY EXPLOSION. TO REDUCE THE RISK
OF A SPARK NEAR THE BATTERY:

while charging the internal battery.

Do not use the Instant Power™

1. Turn the vehicle’s ignition OFF before making cable connections.

2. Position the DC cables to reduce the risk of damage by the hood, door and moving

or hot engine parts. NOTE: If it is necessary to close the hood during the jump
starting process, ensure that the hood does not touch the metal part of the battery
clips or cut the insulation of the cables.

3. Stay clear of fan blades, belts, pulleys and other parts that can cause injury.

4. Check the polarity of the battery posts. The POSITIVE (POS, P, +) battery post

usually has a larger diameter than the NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) post.

5. Determine which post of the battery is grounded (connected) to the chassis. If the

negative post is grounded to the chassis (as in most vehicles), see step 8.6. If the
positive post is grounded to the chassis, see step 8.7.

6. For a negative-grounded vehicle, connect the POSITIVE (RED) clip from the Instant

Power™ to the POSITIVE (POS, P, +) ungrounded post of the battery. Connect
the NEGATIVE (BLACK) clip to the vehicle chassis or engine block away from the
battery. Do not connect the clip to the carburetor, fuel lines or sheet-metal body parts.
Connect to a heavy gauge metal part of the frame or engine block.

7. For a positive-grounded vehicle, connect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) clip from the

Instant Power™ to the NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) ungrounded post of the battery.
Connect the POSITIVE (RED) clip to the vehicle chassis or engine block away from
the battery.

RISK OF EXPLOSION.
If you have connected the clips backward, an audio alarm will sound. DO NOT
turn the ON/OFF switch to the ON position. This could cause serious damage to
the Instant Power™ or the vehicle. Reverse the connections and the audio alarm
will stop.

8. Crank the engine. If the engine does not start within 5-8 seconds, stop cranking and

wait at least 1 minute before attempting to start the vehicle again. (This permits the
Instant Power™ battery to cool down.)

9. After the engine starts, immediately disconnect the clip from the vehicle chassis and

then the remove the clip from the battery terminal, in that order, and clip them back
onto the Instant Power™ storage holders.

10. Recharge the Instant Power™ as soon as possible after use.
RISK OF EXPLOSION.

To prevent sparking, NEVER allow the clips to touch together or to contact the
same piece of metal. Never attempt to jump start a frozen battery.

8.2 Powering a 12V DC Device:

The Instant Power™ is a power source for all 12V DC accessories that are

equipped with a 12V accessory plug. Estimated usage time is listed in the following chart.
Make sure the device to be powered is OFF before inserting the 12V DC accessory plug

into the 12V DC accessory outlet.

1. Ensure the battery clips are securely clipped on the storage holders.

2. Open the protective cover of the DC power outlet on the back of the Instant Power™.

3. Plug the 12V DC device into the DC power outlet, and turn the 12V DC device on (if

required).

4. If the 12V DC device draws more than 15A or has a short circuit, the internal circuit

breaker of the Instant Power™ will trip and disconnect the power to the device. If this
occurs, disconnect the 12V DC device in question and press the reset button located
on the back of the Instant Power™ to reset the circuit breaker.

The DC power outlet is wired directly to the internal battery. Extended
operation of a 12V DC device may result in excessive battery drain.
Recharge immediately after unplugging the 12V DC device.

8.3 Using the Built-In Light

1. Position the Instant Power™ on a at, stable surface near the intended work area.

2. Ensure the battery clips are securely clipped on the storage holders.

3. Press the Light Switch to the ON position.

4. The Instant Power™ light will turn on and illuminate your work area.

5. Press the Light Switch to the OFF position to turn off the light.

6. Charge the Instant Power™ as soon as possible after using the built-in light.

NOTE: With a fully charged internal battery, the built-in light should provide 55 to 65

hours of continuous, useful light.

8.4 Using the Air Compressor
RISK OF EXPLOSION.

Read the instructions of the product being inated before using the compressor.
Avoid overination; do not exceed the manufacturer’s recommended pressures.

Do not leave the air compressor unattended during use.

1. Ensure the battery clips are securely on the storage holders.

2. Remove the air compressor hose from the storage compartment in the back of the

Instant Power™. Install adapters as necessary.

3. Attach the air compressor hose to the product or accessory to be inated by ipping

down the lever.

4. Place the Compressor Switch in the ON position and inate the product.

5. When the product is inated to the proper air pressure (using the air compressor

gauge) place the Compressor Switch in the OFF position and remove the hose.

6. Do not run for more than 10 minutes maximum at a time. Allow the Instant Power™

to cool down for 10 minutes before using again.

NOTE: To prevent overheating, the compressor has built-in thermal protection that
will turn the compressor off before it overheats. If the compressor shuts off, wait a few
minutes and it will automatically restart when the compressor cools.

NOTE: The air compressor is rated for 150 PSI.

9. MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

9.1 After use and before performing maintenance, unplug and disconnect the Instant

Power™.

9.2 Use a dry cloth to wipe all battery corrosion and other dirt or oil from the battery clips,

cords, and the Instant Power™ case.

9.3 Ensure that all of the Instant Power™ components are in place and in good working

condition, for example, the plastic boots on the battery clips.

9.4 Servicing does not require opening the unit, as there are no user-serviceable parts.

9.5 All other servicing should be performed by qualied service personnel.

10. MOVING AND STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

10.1 Store the Instant Power™ in an upright position.

10.2 Store inside, in a cool, dry place.

10.3 Do not store the clips on the handle, clipped together, on or around metal, or clipped

to cables. The clips on the Instant Power™ are live and will produce arcing or sparking
if they come in contact with each other. To prevent accidental arcing, always keep the
clips on the storage holders when not using it to jump start a vehicle.

10.4 If the Instant Power™ is moved around the shop or transported to another location, take

care to avoid/prevent damage to the cords, clips and Instant Power™. Failure to do so
could result in personal injury or property damage.

Do not use and/or store the Instant Power™ in or on any area or
surface where damage could occur if the internal battery should
unexpectedly leak acid.

10.5 IMPORTANT:

•CHARGE IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE

•KEEP FULLY CHARGED

Charge the Instant Power™ internal battery immediately after purchase, after every
use and every 30 days.

All batteries are affected by temperature. The ideal storage temperature is at 70º F. The
internal battery will gradually self-discharge (lose power) over time, especially in warm
environments. Leaving the battery in a discharged state may result in permanent battery
damage. To ensure satisfactory performance and avoid permanent damage, charge the
internal battery every month.

11. TROUBLESHOOTING

12. BEFORE RETURNING FOR REPAIRS

12.1 When a starting problem arises, make certain that the battery is capable of accepting a

normal charge. Double check all connections, the Instant Power™ battery charge level,
the battery clips for correct polarity and the quality of the connections from the cables to
the clips and from the clips to the battery system. The clips must be clean.

12.2 When an UNKNOWN OPERATING PROBLEM arises, please read the complete manual

and call the customer service number for information. This will usually eliminate the
need for return.

14.1 Battery Clip Replacement

1. Make sure the ON/OFF switch on the front panel is in the OFF (O) position and the

Instant Power™ is not plugged into a 120V AC wall outlet.

2. Secure the clamp in the open position using a vise or equivalent clamping device.
WARNING: The clips are spring-loaded, so use caution when replacing the jaws, to

avoid injury.

3. Remove the rear screw that attaches the Instant Power™ cable to the jaw.

4. Remove the screw holding the copper jaw to the plastic clip. Repeat for other jaw.

5. Remove the two jaws and braided cable.

6. Reverse the steps to install the replacement parts.

ORIGINAL RETAIL PURCHASER OF THIS PRODUCT. THIS LIMITED WARRANTY IS
NOT TRANSFERABLE OR ASSIGNABLE.

Schumacher Electric Corporation (the “Manufacturer”) warrants this Instant Power™
for one year and the internal battery for ninety days from the date of purchase at retail
against defective material or workmanship that may occur under normal use and
care. If your unit is not free from defective material or workmanship, Manufacturer’s
obligation under this warranty is solely to repair or replace your product, with a new or
reconditioned unit, at the option of the Manufacturer. It is the obligation of the purchaser
to forward the unit, along with proof of purchase and mailing charges prepaid to the
Manufacturer or its authorized representatives in order for repair or replacement to occur.

Manufacturer does not provide any warranty for any accessories used with this product
that are not manufactured by Schumacher Electric Corporation and approved for use
with this product. This Limited Warranty is void if the product is misused, subjected to

careless handling, repaired, or modied by anyone other than Manufacturer or if this unit

is resold through an unauthorized retailer.
Manufacturer makes no other warranties, including, but not limited to, express,

implied or statutory warranties, including without limitation, any implied warranty

of merchantability or implied warranty of tness for a particular purpose. Further,

Manufacturer shall not be liable for any incidental, special or consequential damage
claims incurred by purchasers, users or others associated with this product, including,

1.11 Para reducir el riesgo de explosión de una batería, siga estas instrucciones y aquellas

publicadas por el fabricante de la batería y por el fabricante de cualquier equipo que
intente utilizar en la proximidad de la batería. Revise las pautas de precaución en estos

1.12 Este Instant Power™ está equipado con partes, tales como, interruptores y

cortacircuitos, que tienden a originar chispas y cortos. Si se utiliza en la cochera, utilice
el Instant Power™ 18 pulgadas (46 cm) o más del nivel del suelo.

2. PRECAUCIONES PERSONALES
RIESGO DE GASES EXPLOSIVOS. UNA CHISPA

DE CHISPAS CERCA DE LA BATERÍA:

2.1 NUNCA fume o permita la presencia de

chispas o llamas en la proximidad de una batería o motor.

2.2 No utilice elementos personales de metal tales como anillos, pulseras, collares y relojes

al trabajar con una batería de plomo-ácido. Una batería de plomo-ácido puede producir

una corriente de cortocircuito lo sucientemente elevada como para soldar un anillo o

provocar efectos similares sobre el metal, causando una quemadura de gravedad.

2.3 Tenga especial cuidado para reducir el riesgo de dejar caer una herramienta de metal

sobre la batería. Esto podría provocar chispas o un cortocircuito en la batería o en
cualquier otra pieza eléctrica que podría provocar una explosión.

2.4 No deje que la batería interna se congele. Nunca cargue una batería congelada.

2.8 Utilice protección visual y corporal completa, incluyendo gafas de seguridad y prendas

de protección. Evite tocar sus ojos mientras trabaje en forma cercana a la batería.

2.9 Si el ácido de la batería tiene contacto con su piel o su ropa, lave de inmediato el área

afectada con agua y jabón. En caso de que ingrese ácido en un ojo, sumerja el mismo
de inmediato bajo agua potable corriente por al menos 10 minutos y obtenga atención
médica en forma inmediata.

2.10 Si el ácido de la batería es accidentalmente ingerido, se recomienda beber leche, clara

de huevo o agua. NO provoque vómito. Busque ayuda médica de inmediato.

3. PREPARACIÓN PARA EL USO DEL INSTANT POWER™

3.1 Be sure the area around the battery is well ventilated while

the Instant Power™ is being used.

4. CHARGER AND AC POWER CORD CONNECTIONS

4.1 Este Instant Power™ de batería está destinado a un

uso en un circuito con tensión nominal de 120 V. El enchufe se
debe conectar a un tomacorriente adecuadamente instalado
y que cuente con descarga a tierra de acuerdo con todas las

7. PARA CARGAR LA BATERIA INTERNA DE LA FUENTE DEL INSTANT POWER™

IMPORTANTE: CARGUE LA UNIDAD INMEDIATAMENTE DESPUES DE
COMPRARLA, DESPUES DE CADA USO Y CADA 30 DIAS PARA ASI MANTENER
LA FUENTE DE PODER PORTATIL CARGADA COMPLETAMENTE.

7.1 El uso de un alargador inadecuado puede provocar riesgo de incendio o descarga

eléctrica. Cuando se use una extensión, asegúrese de que:

• Los pasadores en el enchufe del alargador posean el mismo número, tamaño y
forma que aquellos presentes en el enchufe del cargador del Instant Power™.

• El alargador se encuentre correctamente conectado y en buenas condiciones
eléctricas.

• Que el cable de la extensión sea de calibre 18 (AWG) [0.82 mm2] o más potente si es
de 50 pies (15.24 metres) de largo o menos.

7.2 Para reducir el riesgo de descarga eléctrica, desenchufe el cargador del Instant

7.4 Indicador LED:

Para vericar el estado de carga interna de la batería, oprima el botón de estado de la

batería interna en la delantera del Instant Power™.

Las luces LED indicarán el nivel de carga otante de la siguiente manera:

• Una luz roja indica una carga del 50% o menos y que se debe recargar inmediatamente.

• Una luz amarilla indica una carga entre el 50 y el 75%. Se puede usar el Instant

Power™ pero debe recargarse lo más pronto posible.

• La luz verde indica que la batería interna está totalmente cargada.

• Una luz LED (roja) CARGANDO indica que el Instant Power™ está cargando

(conectado a una fuente de poder de CA). A carga completa, la luz LED (verde)
CARGADA se encenderá.

7.5 Cargando la batería interna con el cargador Interno Adaptado.

1. Para cargar, enchufe un cable de calibre 18 (AWG) [0,82 mm2] o una extensión larga

en la clavija localizada a la tapa del Instant Power™. (El cordón de extensión no
viene con la unidad; se necesita comprar por separado).

2. Enchufe el cordón de extensión en un tomacorriente de 120V CA.

3. La luz LED (roja) CARGANDO brilla para indicar “CARGANDO”.

4. La luz LED (verde) CARGADA se encenderá cuando la batería haya alcanzado su

8. INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACIÓN

8.1 Para arrancar el motor del vehículo

BATERÍA PUEDE CAUSAR LA EXPLOSIÓN DE
LA BATERÍA. PARA REDUCIR EL RIESGO DE
PROVOCAR CHISPAS CERCA DE LA BATERÍA:

No utilice el Instant Power™ mientras carga la batería interna.

1. Apague el vehículo antes de hacer conexiones de cables.

2. Ubique los cables de C.C. para reducir el riesgo de daños a la cubierta, a la puerta

y a las piezas móviles o calientes del motor. NOTA: Si es necesario cerrar el cofre
durante el proceso de arranca, asegúrese que el cofre no toque parte metálica de la
batería o pele los cables.

3. Manténgase alejado de las paletas del ventilador, correas, poleas y otras piezas que

podrían provocar lesiones.

4. Verique la polaridad de los bornes de la batería. El borne POSITIVO (POS, P, +) de

la batería generalmente posee un diámetro mayor al borne NEGATIVO (NEG, N, -).

5. Determine qué borne de la batería hace descarga a tierra (se encuentra conectado)

con el chasis. Si el borne negativo hace descarga a tierra con el chasis (como en la
mayor parte de los vehículos), ver el paso 8.6. Si el borne positivo hace descarga a
tierra con el chasis, ver el paso 8.7.

6. En un vehículo con descarga a tierra por borne negativo, conecte el gancho

POSITIVO (ROJO) del Instant Power™ de batería al borne POSITIVO (POS, P,
+) sin descarga a tierra de la batería. Conecte el gancho NEGATIVO (NEGRO) al
chasis del vehículo o al bloque motor alejado de la batería. No conecte el gancho
al carburador, líneas de combustible o cuerpos metálicos. Conecte a una pieza
metálica de calibre grueso del marco o del bloque motor.

7. En un vehículo con descarga a tierra por borne positivo, conecte el gancho

NEGATIVO (NEGRO) del Instant Power™ de batería al borne NEGATIVO (NEG, N,

-) sin descarga a tierra de la batería. Conecte el gancho POSITIVO (ROJO) al chasis
del vehículo o al bloque motor alejado de la batería. No conecte al carburador, líneas
de combustible o cuerpos metálicos. Conecte a una pieza metálica de calibre grueso
del marco o del bloque motor.

RIESGO DE EXPLOSIÓN.

Si ha conectado las pinzas al revés, escuchará un sonido de alarma. NO gire el
botón-interruptor a la posición de ENCENDIDO (ON). Esto podría causar serios
daños al Instant Power™ o al vehículo. Conecte los cables a la inversa y el
zumbido dejará de sonar.

8. Arranque el motor. Si el motor no da marcha de entre los 5 y 8 segundos,

detenga el arranque y espere 1 minuto antes de intentar arrancarlo de nuevo. (Esto
permitirá al Instant Power™ que se recupere.)

9. After the engine starts, immediately disconnect the clip from the vehicle chassis and

then the remove the clip from the battery terminal, in that order, and clip them back
onto the Instant Power™ storage holders.

10. Cargue el Instant Power™ tan pronto sea posible, después de usarse.

8.3 Uso de la Luz adjunta.

8.4 Uso del Compresor de Aire
RIESGO DE EXPLOSIÓN.

inar, no exceda la presión de aire recomendado por el fabricante. Durante el

uso, no desatienda el compresor.

1. Asegúrese que las pinzas estén jas en el compartimiento.

2. Quite la manguera del compartimiento del compresor de aire situada en la parte de

atrás el Instant Power™ instale adaptadores si es necesario.

3. Sujete la manguera del compresor al producto o aparato a ser inado, tirando la

palanca hacia abajo.

4. Coloque interruptor de compresor señalando la posición de ENCENDIDO y

comience a inar el producto.

5. Una vez inado el producto en la presión de aire apropiada (usando el calibrador

se enfríe antes de usarla de nuevo.

NOTA: Para prevenir un sobrecalentamiento, el compresor tiene una protección termal
integrada internamente que apaga el compresor antes de sobrecargarse. En caso
de que el compresor se apague solo, espere unos minutos y él mismo reiniciará la
operación de nuevo después de enfriarse.

NOTA: El Compresor de aire esta diseñado para 150 PSI.

9. INSTRUCCIONES DE MANTENIMIENTO

9.1 Después de usar y antes de realizar mantenimiento, desenchufe y desconecte el

Instant Power™.

9.2 Utilice un paño seco para limpiar la corrosión de toda la batería y otra suciedad o aceite

de los terminales, cables y carcasa del Instant Power™.

9.3 Asegúrese de que todas las piezas del Instant Power™ estén bien instaladas y en

buenas condiciones para su función, incluyendo los protectores de plástico de las
pinzas de la batería.

9.4 Para realizar mantenimiento no es necesario abrir la unidad, ya que no existen piezas a

las cuales puede realizarle mantenimiento el usuario.

9.5 Cualquier otro servicio debe realizarse por personal calicado en el ramo.

10. INSTRUCCIONES PARA EL MANEJO Y ALMACENAMIENTO

10.1 Guarde el Instant Power™ desenchufado en posición vertical.

10.2 Almacene en el interior, en un lugar fresco y seco.

10.3 No guarde los ganchos en asas, enganchados entre sí, en o cerca de metales o

enganchados en cables. Los ganchos en el Instant Power™ están vivas y producen
arco o chisporroteo si hacen contacto entre sí. Para evitar arco accidental, siempre
mantenga los ganchos en los soportes de almacenaje y el conmutador JUMP START
ON/OFF en la posición OFF cuando el Instant Power™ no se está usando para
arranque inmediato de un vehículo.

10.4 Si el Instant Power™ se mueve alrededor del taller o se transporta a otra localidad,

trate de evitar/prevenir daño a los cables,pinzas y al Instant Power™. El ignorar estas
recomendaciones, podría llegar a causarle daños personales o de inmueble.

No use ni/o almacene la unidad de poder, bajo ninguna circustancia,
en áreas donde puede causar daño alguno en caso de que la batería
derrame ácido.

10.5 IMPORTANTE:
CARGUE INMEDIATAMENTE DESPUÉS DE CADA USO.
MANTENGA LA UNIDAD COMPLETAMENTE CARGADA.

Cargue el Instant Power™ inmediatamente después de comprarla, después de cada
uso y cada 30 días.

La temperatura afecta a todas las baterías. La temperatura ideal de almacenaje es a
los 70 grados Fahrenheit. La batería interna se va descargando (pierde potencia) con
el pasar del tiempo, especialmente en los ambientes cálidos. Si se deja la batería en
estado de descarga, puede sufrir daños permanentes. Para asegurar el rendimiento
satisfactorio y evitar daños permanentes, cargue la batería interna mensualmente.

12. ANTES DE DEVOLVER A REPARACIONES

12.1 Cuando surja un problema de carga, asegúrese de que la batería puede recibir una

carga normal. Vericar dos veces todas las conexiones, el nivel de carga de la batería

del Instant Power™, los ganchos de la batería para lograr una polaridad correcta y la
calidad de las conexiones de los cables a los ganchos y de los ganchos al sistema de la
batería. Los ganchos deben estar limpios.

14.1 Battery Clip Replacement

1. Make sure the ON/OFF switch on the front panel is in the OFF (O) position and the

Instant Power™ is not plugged into a 120V AC wall outlet.

2. Secure the clamp in the open position using a vise or equivalent clamping device.
WARNING: The clips are spring-loaded, so use caution when replacing the jaws, to

avoid injury.

3. Remove the rear screw that attaches the Instant Power™ cable to the jaw.

4. Remove the screw holding the copper jaw to the plastic clip. Repeat for other jaw.

5. Remove the two jaws and braided cable.

6. Reverse the steps to install the replacement parts.

1.11 Pour réduire le risque d’explosion de la batterie, suivez ces directives et celles publiées

par le fabricant de la batterie et du fabricant de tout autre appareil que vous pensez
utiliser au voisinage de la batterie. Examinez les avertissements inscrits sur ces produits
et sur le moteur.

1.12 Ce Instant Power™ emploie des pièces, comme les sélecteurs et les disjoncteurs, qui

ont tendance à produire des arcs et des étincelles. Si utilisé dans un garage, placer ce
Instant Power™ 18 inch (46 cm) ou plus au-dessus du niveau d’étage.

2. PRÉCAUTIONS PERSONNELLES

D’ÉTINCELLE PRÈS DE LA BATTERIE :

2.1 Ne jamais fumer jamais ou produire une

étincelle ou amme au alentour d’une batterie ou

d’un moteur.

2.2 Enlevez vos objets personnels en métal comme les bagues, les bracelets, les colliers

et les montres quand vous travaillez avec une batterie d’accumulateurs au plomb. Une
batterie d’accumulateurs au plomb peut produire un court-circuit thermique assez fort pour
souder une bague ou autre chose du même genre au métal, causant de graves brûlures.

2.3 Soyez extra prudent pour réduire le risque de laisser tomber un outil en métal sur la

batterie. Ça pourrait faire une étincelle ou produire un court-circuit à la batterie ou à
d’autres parties électriques et pourrait produire une explosion.

2.4 Veillez à ce que la batterie interne ne gèle pas. Ne tentez jamais de recharger une

batterie gelée.

2.5 Assurez-vous que l’interrupteur de l’aide-démarrage est fermé tant que les pinces ne

sont pas raccordées à la batterie du véhicule.

2.6 Considérez d’être assez proche d’une personne quand vous travaillez près d’un

accumulateur au plomb pour qu’elle puisse venir à votre aide en cas d’urgence.

2.7 Ayez assez d’eau fraîche et du savon à proximité au cas ou votre peau, vos yeux ou vos

habits viendraient en contact avec l’acide de la batterie.

2.8 Portez une protection complète des yeux et du corps, comprenant des lunettes de

sécurité et des vêtements protecteurs. Évitez de toucher vos yeux quand vous travaillez
près de la batterie.

2.9 Si l’acide de la batterie rentre en contact avec votre peau ou vos vêtements, lavez

l’endroit immédiatement avec de l’eau et du savon. Si l’acide entre dans vos yeux,
rincez immédiatement l’œil avec de l’eau froide coulante pour au moins 10 minutes puis
allez voir le médecin aussitôt.

2.10 Si l’acide de batterie est avalée accidentellement boire du lait, les blancs d’œufs ou de

l’eau. NE PAS faire vomir. Consulter un médecin immédiatement.

3. PRÉPARE POUR UTILISER LE INSTANT POWER™

LE RISQUE DE CONTACT AVEC L’ACIDE DE BATTERIE.
L’ACIDE DE BATTERIE EST UN ACIDE SULFURIQUE
EXTRÊMEMENT CORROSIF.

3.1 Be sure the area around the battery is well ventilated while

the Instant Power™ is being used.

3.2 Nettoyer les bornes de la batterie avant d’utilisée l’unité. Lors du nettoyage, ne laissez

pas les particules de corrosion entrer en contact avec vos yeux, votre nez et votre
bouche. Utilisez du bicarbonate de sodium et de l’eau pour neutraliser l’électrolyte de
batterie et aider à éliminer les particules de corrosion dans l’air. Ne vous touchez pas les
yeux, le nez ou la bouche.

3.3 Déterminez la tension de la batterie en vous référant au guide d’utilisation de votre

véhicule et assurez-vous que le tension de sortie correspond à la tension voulue de
l’Instant Power™.

3.4 Assurez-vous que les pinces des câbles du Instant Power™ sont fermement connectées.

4. CHARGER AND AC POWER CORD CONNECTIONS

RISQUE DE CHOC ÉLECTRIQUE OU D’INCENDIE.

4.1 Ce chargeur de batterie doit être utilisé sur un circuit de

tension nominale de 120 volts. La prise de terre doit être branchée
dans une prise qui est correctement installée et mise à la terre

conformément aux codes de construction locaux. Les ches de la

prise mâle doivent correspondre à la prise murale. Ne pas utiliser

l’appareil avec un système non mis à la terre. NOTE : Conformément à la réglementation
canadienne, l’utilisation d’un adaptateur n’est pas autorisé au Canada. L’utilisation d’un
adaptateur aux États-Unis n’est pas recommandée et ne doit pas être utilisé.

7. CHARGEMENT DE LA BATTERIE INTERNE DE L’INSTANT POWER™

IMPORTANT: CHARGEZ-LA IMMÉDIATEMENT APRÈS L’ACHAT, APRÈS CHAQUE
UTILISATION ET TOUS LES 30 JOURS POUR GARDER LA BATTERIE INTERNE DE
L’INSTANT POWER™ COMPLÈTEMENT CHARGÉE.

7.1 L’utilisation d’une rallonge inadéquate peut causer un risque de feu ou de choc

électrique. Lorsque une rallonge est utilisée, assurez-vous que:

• Que les broches sur la prise de la rallonge sont du même nombre, de la même taille
et forme que celles de la prise du chargeur de l’Instant Power™.

• Que la rallonge est bien câblée et en bonne condition électrique.

• Que la rallonge du l a une taille de 18 (AWG) [0,82 mm2] ou plus et est de 50 pieds

(15,24 mètres) de long ou moins.

7.2 Pour réduire le risque de choc électrique, débranchez le chargeur de l’Instant Power™

de la prise murale avant d’entreprendre tout entretien ou nettoyage. Le fait de
simplement éteindre l’appareil ne réduira pas les risques.

7.3 Lorsque vous rechargez la batterie interne, travailler dans un endroit bien aéré et ne

restreignent pas la ventilation en aucune manière.

7.4 Indicateur à DEL:

Pour vérier le statut de charge de la batterie interne, appuyez sur le bouton l’état de la

batterie situé sur le devant de l’appareil modèle Instant Power™.
Les voyants vont indiquer ce qui suit :

• Le voyant rouge indique que la charge de la batterie interne est de 50 % ou moins ;
vous devez alors recharger immédiatement l’appareil.

• Le voyant jaune indique que la charge de la batterie interne se situe entre 50 et 75
%. On peut utiliser l’appareil modèle Instant Power™, mais il faudra le recharger dès
que possible.

• Le voyant vert indique que la batterie interne est entièrement chargée.

• Le voyant EN COURS DE CHARGE (rouge) indique que l’Instant Power™ charge

(raccordé à une source CA de courant alternatif). Quand la charge complète, le
voyant CHARGÉE (vert) s’allume.

7.5 Charge de la batterie interne à l’aide du chargeur intégré

1. Pour charger, brancher un 18 calibre (AWG) ou la plus grande corde d’extension

dans le chargeur se connecte sur le arrière de l’Instant Power ™ Immédiat. (La
corde d’extension non incluse; doit être acheté séparément.)

2. Branchez la rallonge dans une prise électrique de 120 V CA.

3. Le voyant EN COURS DE CHARGE (rouge) est allumé durant la charge.

4. Le voyant CHARGÉE (vert) s’allume lorsque la batterie est complètement

chargée. Dans certains cas, la charge durera jusqu’à 72 heures, selon l’âge et l’état
de la batterie.

5. Rechargez l’appareil modèle Instant Power™ dès que possible après l’avoir utilisé.
NOTE : Pour réduire le risque d’endommager le cordon électrique, tirez sur la prise

plutôt que sur le cordon quand vous débranchez l’Instant Power™ charger.

Ne pas utiliser le Instant Power quand en chargeant la batterie intérieure.

8. CONSIGNES D’UTILISATION

8.1 Démarrer le moteur d’un véhicule, avec des pinces de « batterie » à batterie
UNE ÉTINCELLE PRÈS DE BATTERIE PEUT

CAUSER SON EXPLOSION. POUR RÉDUIRE LES
RISQUES D’ÉTINCELLE PRÈS DE LA BATTERIE :

Ne pas utiliser l’Instant Power quand
en chargeant la batterie intérieure.

1. Couper le contact du véhicule avant de raccorder.

2. Positionnez les câbles CC pour qu’ils ne risquent aucun dommage par le capot, la

porte ou toute autre partie du moteur chaude ou en mouvement. NOTE : S’il est
nécessaire de fermer le capot pendant le processus démarrant, être sûrs que le capot
ne touche pas la partie en métal des clips de batterie ou coupe l’isolation des câbles.

3. Tenez-vous à l’écart des pales de ventilateur, des courroies, des poulies et autres

pièces qui peuvent causer des blessures.

4. Vériez la polarité des bornes de la batterie. La borne POSITIVE (POS, P, +) de la

batterie a généralement un plus grand diamètre que la borne NÉGATIVE (NEG, N, -).

5. Déterminez quelle borne de la batterie est mise à la masse (connectée au chassis).

Si la borne négative est connectée au chassis (dans la plupart des véhicules), voir
l’étape 8.6. Si la borne positive est connectée au chassis, voir l’étape 8.7.

6. Pour les véhicules mis à la masse négative, connectez la pince POSITIVE (ROUGE)

du Instant Power™ à la borne de la batterie POSITIVE (POS, P, +), non mise à
la masse. Connectez la pince NÉGATIVE (NOIRE) au chassis du véhicule ou au
bloc moteur à l’écart de la batterie. Ne pas connecter la pince au carburateur, à la
canalisation d’essence ou à des pièces de carrosserie en tôle. Connectez à une
grosse pièce de métal de la carrosserie ou du bloc moteur.

7. Pour les véhicules mis à la masse positive, connectez la pince NÉGATIVE (NOIRE)

du Instant Power™ à la borne de la batterie NÉGATIVE (NEG, N, -), non mise à
la masse. Connectez la pince POSITIVE (ROUGE) au chassis du véhicule ou au
bloc moteur à l’écart de la batterie. Ne pas connecter la pince au carburateur, à la
canalisation d’essence ou à des pièces en tôle. Connectez à une grosse pièce de
métal de la carrosserie ou du bloc moteur.

RISQUES D’EXPLOSION

Si vous avez raccordé les pinces à l’envers, une alarme audio retentira. NE PAS
allumer le contact. Cela pourrait sérieusement endommager l’Instant Power™ ou
le véhicule. Inverser les branchements et l’alarme s’arrêtera.

8. Démarrer le moteur. S’il ne part pas dans les 5-8 secondes, arrêter d’essayer
de le démmarrer et attendre au moins 1 minute avant de réessayer. (Ceci permet

à l’Instant Power™ de refroidir).

9. After the engine starts, immediately disconnect the clip from the vehicle chassis and

then the remove the clip from the battery terminal, in that order, and clip them back
onto the Instant Power™ storage holders.

10. Recharger l’Instant Power™ aussitôt que possible après utilisation.
RISQUES D’EXPLOSION

Pour éviter toute étincelle, NE JAMAIS laisser les pinces se toucher ou toucher
la même partie métallique. Ne jamais essayer de démarrer une batterie gelée.

8.2 Alimenter un appareil 12 V CC

L’Instant Power™ est une source d’alimentation pour tous les accessoires en

12 V CC équipés d’une prise accessoire en 12 V. L’utiliser lors de coupures de courant
ou au camping ou à la pêche. La durée d’utilisation estimée se trouve dans le tableau
suivant.

S’assurer que le dispositif soit étient avant de brancher la prise de l’accessoire 12 V CC
dans l’autre.

1. S’assurer que les pinces de la batterie soient bien posées sur les supports de stockage.

2. Ouvrir le couvercle de protection de la prise d’alimentation CC sur le arrière de

l’Instant Power™.

3. Brancher l’appareil en 12 V CC dans la prise d’alimentation CC et mettre l’appareil

en 12 V CC sur ON (au besoin).

4. Si l’appareil 12 V CC consomme plus de 15A ou est en court-circuit, le disjoncteur

interne de l’Instant Power™ se déclenchera et déconnectera l’alimentation de
l’appareil. Dans ce cas, débrancher l’appareil 12 V CC en question et appuyer sur le
bouton Reset se trouvant à l’arrière de l’Instant Power™ pour réinitialiser le disjoncteur.

La prise d’alimentation CC est reliée directement à la batterie interne.
Si l’on se sert longuement de l’appareil en 12 V CC, trop d’énergie peut
être tirée de la batterie. Recharger immédiatement après avoir
débranché l’appareil en 12 V CC.

8.3 Utilisation de la lampe intégrée

1. Mettre l’Instant Power™ sur une surface plate, stable à proximité de la zone de

travail prévue.

2. S’assurer que les pinces de la batterie soient bien posées sur les supports de stockage.

3. Appuyez sur la touche de lumière to the ON position.

4. La lampe de l’Instant Power™ s’allumera et éclairera votre espace de travail.

5. Appuyez sur l’interrupteur de lumière sur la position OFF pour éteindre la lumière.

6. Appuyez sur la touche de lumière encore à éteindre la lumière.

NOTE : La batterie interne à pleine charge, la lampe intégrée devrait fournir de 55 à 65

heures de lumière permanente.

8.4 Utilisation du compresseur d’air
RISQUES D’EXPLOSION

Lire les instructions concernant le produit à goner avant d’utiliser le
compresseur. Éviter tout excès de gonage, ne pas dépasser les pressions

recommandées du fabricant. Ne pas laisser le compresseur à portée de
n’importe qui lors de l’utilisation.

1. S’assurer que les pinces de la batterie soient bien posées sur les supports de stockage.

2. Enlever le exible du compresseur du compartiment de stockage à l’arrière de

l’Instant Power™. Installer des adaptateurs au besoin.

3. Attacher le exible du compresseur au produit ou à l’accessoire devant être goner

en abaissant le levier.

4. Mettre l’interrupteur de l’compresseur dans la position ON et goner le produit.

5. Une fois le produit goné à la pression correcte d’air (enutilisant le manomètre),

mettre l’nterrupteur compresseur en position OFF et retirer le exible.

6. Ne pas utiliser plus de 10 minutes, maxi, à la fois. Laisser l’Instant Power™ refroidir

pendant 10 minutes avant de l’utiliser encore.

NOTE : Pour éviter toute surchauffe, le compresseur possède une protection thermique
intégrée qui éteindra le compresseur avant qu’il ne surchauffe. Si le compresseur
s’éteint, patienter quelques minutes et il redémarrarea aussitôt une fois que le
compresseur a refroidi.

NOTE : Le compresseur accepte 150 PSI.

9. CONSIGNES D’ENTRETIEN

9.1 Après avoir utilisé le Instant Power™ et avant une opération d’entretien, débranchez et

déconnectez l’Instant Power™.

9.2 Utilisez un chiffon sec pour nettoyer toute corrosion de la batterie ainsi que la saleté ou

l’huile sur les broches, les câbles et le boîtier du Instant Power™.

9.3 Garantissez que toutes les composantes de Instant Power™ sont dans l’endroit et dans

la bonne condition de travail, en incluant les bottes de plastique sur les clips de batterie.

9.4 L’entretien courant ne nécessite pas l’ouverture de l’appareil, car il ne contient aucune

pièce que l’utilisateur puisse entretenir.

9.5 Toutes les autres réparations doivent être effectuées par du personnel qualié.

10. INSTRUCTIONS DE TRANSPORT ET STOCKAGE

10.1 Entreposez l’Instant Power™ non branché, dans une position verticale.

10.2 Entreposez-le à l’intérieur, dans un endroit sec et frais.

10.3 Ne pas ranger les pinces de batterie attachées ensemble, sur ou autour d’un métal ou

accrochées aux câbles. On peut ranger l’appareil Instant Power™ dans n’importe quelle
position. Lorsque l’appareil Instant Power™ est ouvert, les pinces sont sous tension
et produisent un arc électrique ou des étincelles si elles entrent en contact l’une avec
l’autre. Pour prévenir un arc accidentel, laissez toujours les pinces sur les supports
de rangement et l’interrupteur d’aide-démarrage fermé (ÊTRE) lorsque vous ne vous
servez pas de l’aide-démarrage.

10.4 Si le Instant Power™ est placé dans la boutique ou transportés vers un autre

emplacement, prendre soin d’éviter ou de prévenir des dommages aux câbles,
pinces et le Instant Power™. Ne pas le faire pourrait entraîner des blessures ou des
dommages matériels.

Ne pas utiliser et / ou stocker L’Instant Power™ dans sur une zone ou
surface où les dommages pourraient se produire si la batterie interne a
tout inattendue l’acide fuites.

10.5 IMPORTANT:

Chargez la batterie interne Instant Power™ immédiatement après l’achat, après chaque
utilisation et tous les 30 jours.

La température a un effet sur toutes les batteries. La température idéale de rangement
est de 21 °C. La batterie interne se déchargera (perdra de la puissance) graduellement
avec le temps, particulièrement si elle est soumise à la chaleur. Le fait de laisser la
batterie déchargée peut l’endommager de façon permanente. Pour s’assurer que la
batterie fournira un rendement satisfaisant et éviter tout dommage permanent, chargez
la batterie interne chaque mois.

12. AVANT DE L’ENVOYER POUR RÉPARATION

12.1 Quand vous rencontrez un problème de chargement, assurez-vous que la batterie

est capable d’accepter une charge normale. Vérier une deuxième fois toutes les

connexions, niveau de la charge de l’Instant Power™, les pinces du chargeur pour la
bonne polarité et la qualité de la connexion des câbles aux pinces et des pinces à la
batterie. Les pinces doivent être propres.

12.2 Lorsqu’un PROBLÈME D’UTILISATION INCONNU survient, veuillez lire le guide

complet et appelez le service à la clientèle pour recevoir des informations. Ceci élimine

habituellement le besoin de retourner l’appareil.

14.1 Battery Clip Replacement

1. Make sure the ON/OFF switch on the front panel is in the OFF (O) position and the

Instant Power™ is not plugged into a 120V AC wall outlet.

2. Secure the clamp in the open position using a vise or equivalent clamping device.
WARNING: The clips are spring-loaded, so use caution when replacing the jaws, to

avoid injury.

3. Remove the rear screw that attaches the Instant Power™ cable to the jaw.

4. Remove the screw holding the copper jaw to the plastic clip. Repeat for other jaw.

5. Remove the two jaws and braided cable.

6. Reverse the steps to install the replacement parts.
