IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS1.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS – The INC-800A offers a wide range of 1.1
features to accommodate the needs for commercial use. This manual will
show you how to use your charger safely and effectively. Please read,
understand and follow these instructions and precautions carefully, as
this manual contains important safety and operating instructions.

WARNING: Pursuant to California Proposition 65, this product contains 1.2
chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth
defects or other reproductive harm.

Do not expose charger to rain or snow.1.3
Use only recommended attachments. Use of an attachment not recom-1.4

mended or sold by Schumacher® Electric Corporation may result in a risk

of re, electric shock or injury to persons.

To reduce the risk of damage to electric plug or cord, pull by the plug 1.5
rather than the cord when disconnecting the charger.

An extension cord should not be used unless absolutely necessary. Use 1.6

of an improper extension cord could result in a risk of re and electric

shock. If an extension cord must be used, make sure:

That the pins on the plug of the extension cord are the same number, •
size and shape as those of the plug on the charger.

That the extension cord is properly wired and in good electrical condition.•
That the wire size is large enough for the AC ampere rating of the charger •

as specied in the table in section 8.2.

Do not operate the charger with a damaged cord or plug; take it to a 1.7

qualied service person. (Call customer service at: 1-800-621-5485.)

Do no operate the charger if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped 1.8

or otherwise damaged in any way; take it to a qualied service person.

Do not disassemble the charger; take it to a qualied service person 1.9

when service or repair is required. Incorrect reassembly may result in a

To reduce the risk of electric shock, unplug the charger from the outlet 1.10
before attempting any maintenance or cleaning. Simply turning off the
controls will not reduce this risk.

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS2.

Consider having someone close enough by to come to your aid when you 2.1
work near a lead-acid battery.

Have plenty of fresh water and soap nearby in case battery acid contacts 2.2
your skin, clothing or eyes.

Wear complete eye and body protection, including safety goggles and pro-2.3
tective clothing. Avoid touching your eyes while working near the battery.

If battery acid contacts your skin or clothing, wash immediately with soap 2.4
and water. If acid enters your eye, immediately ood the eye with cold run­ning water for at least 10 minutes and get medical attention right away.

NEVER smoke or allow a spark or ame in the vicinity of a battery or 2.5

engine.
Be extra cautious to reduce the risk of dropping a metal tool onto the bat-2.6

tery. It might spark or short-circuit the battery or other electrical part that
may cause an explosion.

Remove personal metal items such as rings, bracelets, necklaces and 2.7
watches when working with a lead-acid battery. A lead-acid battery can
produce a short-circuit current high enough to weld a ring or the like to
metal, causing a severe burn.

Use this charger for charging a LEAD-ACID battery only. It is not intended 2.8
to supply power to a low voltage electrical system other than in a starter­motor application. Do not use this battery charger for charging dry-cell
batteries that are commonly used with home appliances. These batteries

may burst and cause injury to persons and damage to property.

NEVER charge a frozen battery.2.9
NEVER overcharge a battery.2.10

PREPARING TO CHARGE3.
If it is necessary to remove the battery from the vehicle to charge it, al-3.1

ways remove the grounded terminal rst. Make sure all of the accessories

in the vehicle are off, to prevent arcing.
Be sure the area around the battery is well ventilated while the battery is 3.2

being charged.
Clean the battery terminals before charging the battery. During cleaning, 3.3

keep airborne corrosion from coming into contact with your eyes, nose
and mouth. Use baking soda and water to neutralize battery acid and help

eliminate airborne corrosion. Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
Add distilled water to each cell until the battery acid reaches the level 3.4

specied by the battery manufacturer. Do not overll. For a battery without

removable cell caps, such as valve regulated lead-acid-batteries, carefully
follow the manufacturer’s recharging instructions.

Read, understand and follow all instructions for the charger, battery, 3.5
vehicle and any equipment used near the battery and charger. Study all of
the battery manufacturer’s specic precautions while charging and recom­mended rates of charge.

Determine the voltage of the battery by referring to the vehicle owner’s 3.6
manual and make sure that the output voltage selector switch is set to the
correct voltage.

Make sure that the charger cable clips make tight connections.3.7

CHARGER LOCATION4.

Locate the charger as far away from the battery as the DC cables permit.4.1
Never place the charger directly above the battery being charged; gases 4.2

from the battery will corrode and damage the charger.
Do not set the battery on top of the charger.4.3
Never allow battery acid to drip onto the charger when reading the electro-4.4

DC CONNECTION PRECAUTIONS5.

Connect and disconnect the DC output clips only after turning the charger 5.1
off and removing the AC plug from the electrical outlet. Never allow the
clips to touch each other.

Attach the clips to the battery and chassis, as indicated in steps 6.5, 6.6 5.2
and 7.2 through 7.4.

FOLLOW THESE STEPS WHEN BATTERY IS INSTALLED IN 6.
VEHICLE.

A SPARK NEAR THE BATTERY MAY CAUSE A BATTERY EXPLO­SION. TO REDUCE THE RISK OF A SPARK NEAR THE BATTERY:

Position the AC and DC cables to reduce the risk of damage by the hood, 6.1
door and moving or hot engine parts.

Stay clear of fan blades, belts, pulleys and other parts that can cause 6.2

injury.
Check the polarity of the battery posts. The POSITIVE (POS, P, +) battery 6.3

post usually has a larger diameter then the NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) post.
Determine which post of the battery is grounded (connected) to the chas-6.4

sis. If the negative post is grounded to the chassis (as in most vehicles),

see step 6.5. If the positive post is grounded to the chassis, see step 6.6.

For a negative-grounded vehicle, connect the POSITIVE (RED) clip from 6.5
the battery charger to the POSITIVE (POS, P, +) ungrounded post of the
battery. Connect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) clip to the vehicle chassis or

engine block away from the battery. Do not connect the clip to the carbure­tor, fuel lines or sheet-metal body parts. Connect to a heavy gauge metal
part of the frame or engine block.

For a positive-grounded vehicle, connect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) clip 6.6
from the battery charger to the NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) ungrounded post
of the battery. Connect the POSITIVE (RED) clip to the vehicle chassis or

engine block away from the battery. Do not connect the clip to the carbure­tor, fuel lines or sheet-metal body parts. Connect to a heavy gauge metal
part of the frame or engine block.

When disconnecting the charger, turn all switches to off, disconnect the 6.7
AC cord, remove the clip from the vehicle chassis and then remove the
clip from the battery terminal.

FOLLOW THESE STEPS WHEN BATTERY IS OUTSIDE VEHICLE. 7.

A SPARK NEAR THE BATTERY MAY CAUSE A BATTERY EXPLO­SION. TO REDUCE THE RISK OF A SPARK NEAR THE BATTERY:

Check the polarity of the battery posts. The POSITIVE (POS, P, +) battery 7.1
post usually has a larger diameter than the NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) post.

Attach at least a 24-inch long 4-gauge (AWG) insulated battery cable to 7.2
the NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) battery post.

Connect the POSITIVE (RED) charger clip to the POSITIVE (POS, P, +) 7.3

post of the battery.
Position yourself and the free end of the cable you previously attached to 7.4

the NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) battery post as far away from the battery as
possible – then connect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) charger clip to the free

end of the cable.

Do not face the battery when making the nal connection.7.5

When disconnecting the charger, turn all switches to off, disconnect the 7.6
AC cord, remove the clip from the cable attached to the negative battery
terminal and then remove the clip from the positive battery terminal.

A marine (boat) battery must be removed and charged on shore. To 7.7

charge it onboard requires equipment specially designed for marine use.

BATTERY CHARGING - AC CONNECTIONS8.

Grounding Methods

This battery charger is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit.8.1

NOTE: The INC-800A intermittently draws more than 15 amps of current.

We recommend that you either install a 20 amp circuit or do not run any­thing else on the same circuit as the INC-800A or you may trip the breaker
supplying the AC power.

DANGER – Never alter AC cord or plug provided – if it does not t the

outlet, have proper outlet installed by a qualied electrician. Improper
connection can result in a risk of an electric shock.

Recommended minimum AWG size for extension cords for battery
chargers

Use of an extension cord is not recommended by manufacturer. If one 8.2
must be used, refer to the following chart:

Connect the battery cable assembly to the INC-800A with the quick-con-11.1
nect connector on the back of the unit.

Connect the battery cable assembly to the battery as described in sections 11.2
6 and 7.

Plug the INC-800A into a 120V AC wall outlet.11.3

NOTE: The INC-800A intermittently draws more than 15 amps of current.
We recommend that you either install a 20 amp circuit or do not run any­thing else on the same circuit as the INC-800A or you may trip the breaker
supplying the AC power.

Turn the 11.4 MAIN POWER switch to the ON position. When the charger pow-
ers up, the LCD screen defaults to and displays 12V FAST on the top line
and CONNECT BATTERY blinking on the bottom line. The charger also

checks for a properly connected battery. When it nds one, the display

changes to show the voltage of the battery on the top line and PRESS ON

blinking on the bottom line (referring to the CHARGE ON/OFF button).

Press the CHARGE VOLTAGE button to select the correct battery voltage 11.5
of either 6V or 12V.

Press the CHARGE MODE button to select the correct battery type and 11.6
charge rate:

FAST: 35 minute charge for automotive and marine batteries. Maximum
charge rate for large batteries that can accept up to 80 Amps of charging
current.

FULL: Up to 240 minute charge for automotive and marine batteries.
Maximum charge rate for large batteries that can accept up to 80 Amps of
charging current.

FULL (lawn tractor, motorcycle, ATV): Up to 240 minute charge. Lower

charge rate for small batteries.

GEL FAST/FULL: Up to 240 minute charge. Charge rate safe for all Gel
Cell batteries.

Press the CHARGE ON/OFF button to start the charge cycle.11.7
After pressing the button, the display shows the selected charge mode on 11.8

the top line and the time remaining (counting down) on the bottom line.

If the display shows “Connect Battery” even when a battery is properly
connected to the INC-800A, the battery is below 0.2V. The automatic
charger will not start. If you would like to start manually, press and hold the
CHARGE ON/OFF button for 5 seconds until the charge cycle starts.

If you are using the FULL (240 minute charge) mode, the Charge Remain-11.9
ing timer counts down to 0 minutes, or the battery becomes fully charged,

the charge cycle will be complete. The CHARGED (green) LED will light,

the charger will beep four times and the charger will go into Maintain

Mode. If you are using the FAST (35 minute charge) mode the Charge Re­maining timer will count down to 0 minutes, the CHARGED (green) LED

will light and the charger will beep four times, but the battery may not be
fully charged. If left alone, the charger will continue to charge the battery
until it is fully charged then go into maintain mode.

Press the CHARGE ON/OFF button before disconnecting clips. 11.10

Aborted Charge
If charging can not be completed normally, charging will abort. When
charging aborts, the charger’s output is shut off, and the display shows
CHARGE ABORTED on the top line and BAD BATTERY on the bottom
line. It will also beep four times to let you know. NOTE: In the case of a
severely discharged battery, the charger will go into abort mode. If, after
the output turns off, the battery voltage drops to under .2 volts, the charger
will reset to the default settings and the display will show 12V FAST on the
top line and CONNECT BATTERY on the bottom line.

Desulfation Mode
See Aborted Charge.

Completion of Charge
Charge completion is indicated by the display showing CHARGE COM­PLETE on the top line and TURN OFF CHARGER on the bottom line. It
will also beep four times to let you know. When the charger has stopped
charging it will switch to the Maintain Mode of operation.

Maintain Mode
When the battery is fully charged, the charger will start Maintain Mode.
In Maintain Mode, the charger keeps the battery fully charged by deliver­ing a small current when necessary. The voltage is maintained at a level
determined by the charge mode selected.

General Charging Notes

Fan: It is normal for the fan to be on all the time. Keep the area near the

charger clear of obstructions to allow the fan to operate efciently.

Restart: If any button is pressed after charging has started, the charg­ing process will stop. Press the CHARGE ON/OFF button to restart the
charge cycle.

MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS12.
Before performing maintenance, unplug and disconnect battery charger 12.1

(see sections 6.7 and 7.6).

After use, unplug and use a dry cloth to wipe all battery corrosion and 12.2
other dirt or oil from terminals, cords, and the charger case.

Servicing does not require opening unit, as there are no user-serviceable 12.3
parts.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS13.

Store charger unplugged, in an upright position. Cord will still conduct 13.1
electricity until it is unplugged from outlet.

Store inside in a dry, cool place (unless you’re using an on-board Marine 13.2
Charger ).

Do not store clips on handle, clipped together, on or around metal, or 13.3
clipped to cables.

stop charging and discard

condition.

Before Returning For Repairs

1. When a charging problem arises, make certain that the battery is capa­ble of accepting a normal charge. Use a good battery to double check all
connections, AC outlet for a full 120-volts, charger clips for correct polarity
and the quality of the connections from the cables to the clips and from the
clips to the battery system. The clips must be clean.

2. When a battery is very cold, partially charged or sulfated, it will not draw
the full rated amperes from the charger. It is both dangerous and damag­ing to a battery to force higher amperage into it than it can effectively use
in recharging.

3. When an UNKNOWN OPERATING PROBLEM arises, please read the

complete manual and call the customer service number for information
that will usually eliminate the need for return.

Before calling Customer Service, have the serial number of the charger
handy. It is located on the back of the unit on a white label. It is also lo­cated on the carton the charger came in.

THE ORIGINAL RETAIL PURCHASER OF THIS PRODUCT. THIS LIMITED WAR­RANTY IS NOT TRANSFERABLE OR ASSIGNABLE.

Schumacher Electric Corporation (the “Manufacturer”) warrants this battery charger

for one year from the date of purchase at retail against defective material or work­manship that may occur under normal use and care. If your unit is not free from
defective material or workmanship, Manufacturers obligation under this warranty
is solely to repair or replace your product, with a new or reconditioned unit, at the
option of the Manufacturer. It is the obligation of the purchaser to forward the unit,
along with mailing charges prepaid to the Manufacturer or its authorized represen­tatives in order for repair or replacement to occur.

Manufacturer does not provide any warranty for any accessories used with this
product that are not manufactured by Schumacher Electric Corporation and ap­proved for use with this product. This Limited Warranty is void if the product is mis-

used, subjected to careless handling, repaired, or modied by anyone other than

Manufacturer or if this unit is resold through an unauthorized retailer.

Manufacturer makes no other warranties, including, but not limited to,
express, implied or statutory warranties, including without limitation, any
implied warranty of merchantability or implied warranty of tness for a par­ticular purpose. Further, Manufacturer shall not be liable for any incidental,

PRECAUCIONES PERSONALES2.
Considere tener a alguien que lo acompañe para asistirlo cuando trabaje 2.1

cerca de una batería de plomo y ácido.

Tenga a mano mucha agua fresca y jabón en caso de que la piel, la ropa 2.2
o los ojos entren en contacto con el ácido de la batería.

Use protección total para ojos y ropa. Evite tocarse los ojos mientras 2.3
trabaja cerca de la batería.

Si el ácido de la batería entra en contacto con la piel o la ropa, lave de 2.4

inmediato con agua y jabón. Si el ácido entra en los ojos, deje que éstos

se llenen de agua fría corriente al menos 10 minutos y consiga atención
médica inmediata.

NUNCA fume ni permita que haya chispas o llamas cerca de la batería o 2.5
del motor.

Sea extremadamente cauteloso para reducir el riesgo de dejar caer una 2.6

herramienta metálica en la batería, ya que podría echar chispas o causar
un cortocircuito en la batería o en otra parte eléctrica que pudiera ocasio­nar una explosión.

Retire los artículos metálicos personales como anillos, pulseras, collares 2.7

y relojes cuando trabaje con una batería de plomo y ácido, dado que ésta
puede ocasionar una corriente de cortocircuito lo sucientemente alta

como para soldar al metal algún anillo u otro artículo, y provocar así una
quemadura grave.

Use el cargador para cargar una batería de PLOMO Y ÁCIDO, exclusi-2.8
vamente, ya que no está diseñado para suministrar energía a un sistema

eléctrico de bajo voltaje distinto de una aplicación de motor de arranque.

No utilice el cargador de batería para cargar baterías secas, comúnmente
utilizadas en artefactos domésticos. Estas baterías podrían explotar y
ocasionar una lesión en personas y un daño en los bienes.

PREPARACIÓN DE LA CARGA3.

Si es necesario quitar la batería del vehículo para cargarla, siempre retire 3.1
el terminal a tierra de la batería primero. Asegúrese de que todos los ac­cesorios dentro del vehículo estén apagados para evitar causar un arco.

Asegúrese de que el área que rodea la batería esté bien ventilada durante 3.2
la carga.

Limpie los terminales de la batería antes de cargarla.Durante la limpieza, 3.3
evite que la corrosión transportada por el aire entre en contacto con sus

ojos, nariz o boca. Use bicarbonato de sodio y agua para neutralizar los

ácidos de la batería y eliminar la corrosión transportada por el aire. No se

toque los ojos, nariz o boca.

Agregue agua destilada en cada celda hasta que el ácido de la batería 3.4

alcance el nivel especicado por el fabricante. Evite que se rebase. En el

caso de una batería sin capas de celda desmontables, como las baterías
de plomo y ácido reguladas por una válvula, siga atentamente las instruc­ciones de recarga del fabricante.

Determine el voltaje de la batería teniendo en cuenta el manual del 3.6

propietario del automóvil y asegúrese de que el interruptor del selector de

PRECAUCIONES DE LA CONEXIÓN CC5.

Conecte y desconecte los sujetadores de salida de corriente CC sólo 5.1
luego de apagar los interruptores del cargador (posición “off”) y retirar el
cable CA del enchufe eléctrico. Nunca deje que los sujetadores se toquen

entre ellos.

Coloque los sujetadores a la batería y chasis, según lo indicado en 6.5, 5.2

6.6, y 7.2 hasta 7.4.

SIGA ESTOS PASOS AL INSTALAR UNA BATERÍA EN EL 6.
VEHÍCULO.

UNA CHISPA CERCA DE LA BATERÍA PODRÍA PROVOCAR UNA EX­PLOSIÓN. PARA EVITAR ESTO:

Coloque los cables CA y CC para reducir el riesgo de daño provocado por 6.1
el capó, la puerta o una parte móvil del motor.

Para un vehículo de conexión a tierra negativa, conecte el sujetador 6.5
POSITIVO (ROJO) desde el cargador de la batería hacia el terminal sin
conexión a tierra POSITIVO (POS, P, +). Conecte el sujetador NEGATIVO
(NEGRO) al chasis del vehículo o bloque del motor, lejos de la batería.
No conecte el sujetador al carburador, a las mangueras de combustible

o planchas de metal de la carrocería. Conecte a una parte metálica del
calibre pesado de la estructura o bloque del motor.

Para un vehículo de conexión a tierra positiva, conecte el sujetador 6.6
NEGATIVO (NEGRO) desde el cargador de la batería hacia el terminal sin
conexión a tierra NEGATIVO (NEG, N, –). Conecte el sujetador POSI­TIVO (ROJO) al chasis de vehículo o bloque del motor, lejos de la batería.
No conecte el sujetador al carburador, a las mangueras de combustible

o planchas de metal de la carrocería. Conecte a una parte metálica del
calibre pesado de la estructura o bloque del motor.

Al desconectar el cargador, desenchufe los interruptores, desconecte el 6.7

cable de corriente alterna, retire los sujetadores del chasis del vehículo y

luego el del terminal de la batería.

SIGA ESTOS PASOS CUANDO LA BATERÍA ESTÉ AFUERA DEL 7.
VEHÍCULO.

UNA CHISPA CERCA DE LA BATERÍA PODRÍA PROVOCAR SU EX­PLOSIÓN. PARA EVITAR ESTO:

Revise la polaridad de los terminales de la batería. El terminal de la bat-7.1

ería de polaridad POSITIVA (POS, P, +) por lo general tiene un diámetro
mayor que el terminal de polaridad NEGATIVA (NEG, N,–).

Añada por lo menos un cable de batería aislado calibre (AWG – calibre 7.2
estadounidense de cable) 4 de 24 pulgadas al terminal de la batería con
polaridad NEGATIVA (NEG, N, -).

Conecte el sujetador del cargador POSITIVO (ROJO) al terminal POSI-7.3
TIVO (POS, P, +).

Ubíquese y libere el extremo del cable lo más lejos posible de la batería – 7.4
luego conecte el sujetador del cargador NEGATIVO (NEGRO) para liberar

el extremo del cable.

Una batería marítimo (de barco) se debe retirar y cargar en tierra. Su 7.7

carga a bordo requiere un equipo especialmente diseñado para el uso
marítimo.

BATERIA CARGANDO - CONEXIONES AC8.

Este cargador de batería es para usar en un circuito nominal de 120 8.1
voltios.

NOTA: El INC-800A de modo intermitente recibe más de 15 amperios
de corriente. Recomendamos que se instale un circuito de 20 amperios
o que no opere nada más en el mismo circuito con el INC-800A; de otro
modo puede causar que dispare el disyuntor que provee la potencia CA.

PELIGRO – Nunca cambie un cable CA o enchufe suministrados – si no
entra en el tomacorriente, solicite la instalación adecuada de un elec-

tricista calicado. La conexión inadecuada puede resultar en riesgo de

descarga eléctrica.

El uso de cordón de extensión no es recomendado por el fabricante. 8.2

Conecte el conjunto del cable de batería al INC-800A con el conector de 11.1

conexión rápida al dorso de la unidad.

Conecte el conjunto del cable de batería a la batería según se describe en 11.2

las secciones 6 y 7.
Enchufe el INC-800A en un tomacorriente de pared de 120V CA.11.3

NOTA: El INC-800A de modo intermitente recibe más de 15 amperios
de corriente. Recomendamos que se instale un circuito de 20 amperios
o que no opere nada más en el mismo circuito con el INC-800A; de otro
modo puede causar que dispare el disyuntor que provee la potencia CA.

Oprima el botón “ CHARGE VOLTAJE” para escoger el voltaje de batería 11.5

correcto de 6V o 12V.

tasa de carga máxima para las baterías grandes que pueden aceptar
hasta 80 Amperios de corriente de carga.

COMPLETA: Hasta 240 minutos de carga para las baterías de automóvil y
marinas. La tasa de carga máxima para las baterías grandes que pueden
aceptar hasta 80 Amperios de corriente de carga.

COMPLETA: (tractores de césped, motocicletas, ATV’s): Carga hasta de

240 minutos. Tasa de carga menor para baterías pequeñas. .

GEL RÁPIDA/COMPLETA: Carga hasta de 240 minutes. Tasa de carga
segura para toda batería de tipo Célula de Gel.

la batería esté debidamente conectada al INC-800A, la batería está a
menos de 0.2 Voltios, y el cargador automático no comienza .Si se desea

comenzar en modo manual, oprima y sujete el botón “CHARGE ON/OFF”

por 5 segundos hasta que comience el ciclo.

Si está usando el Tipo de Carga Completa (240 minutos), el cronómetro 11.9

“Charge Remaining” disminuye la cuenta hasta 0 minutos, o la batería
está a plena carga, el ciclo de carga está completo y el DEL “CARGADA”

(verde) se enciende, el cargador suena cuatro veces consecutivos, y

el cargador inicia el Modo de Mantenimiento. Si está usando el Tipo de

Carga Rápida (35 minutos), el Selector de tiempo de Carga Restante de­scenderá a 0 minutos, la luz LED (verde) de CARGADA se encenderá y el

cargador emitirá cuatro zumbidos pero, es probable que la batería aún no

esté cargada completamente. Si se deja, el cargador continuará cargando

la batería hasta que esté totalmente cargada y cambiará al tipo de carga
de mantenimiento.

Oprima el botón “CHARGE ON/OFF” antes de desconectar las pinzas. 11.10

Carga Abortada
Si la carga no puede completarse normalmente, se aborta, haciendo
que la salida del cargador se apague, y la pantalla muestra “CHARGE
ABORTED” on la línea superior y “BAD BATTERY” en la línea al fondo.
El cargador también suena cuatro veces consecutivos para advertirle
a usted. NOTA: En el caso de una batería severamente descargada, el
cargador cambia en modo de carga abortada. Si sucede, después de

que se apague la salida, que el voltaje de la batería se baja a menos de
.2 voltios, el cargador se repone en las jaciones originales y la pantalla

muestra “12V FAST” en la línea superior y “CONNECT BATTERY” en la
línea al fondo.

Completación de Carga
Al completarse la carga, la pantalla muestra “CHARGE COMPLETE” en
la línea superior y “TURN OFF CHARGER” en la línea al fondo. También
suena cuatro veces consecutivos para informarle a usted. Cuando al

cargador ha dejado de cargar, se cambia en el Modo de Mantenimiento

de operación.

Modo de Mantenimiento
Cuando la batería llega a plena carga, el cargador inicia el Modo de
Mantenimiento. En este modo, el cargador mantiene a la batería a plena

carga al entregar un pequeño corriente cuando sea necesario. El voltaje

se mantiene a un nivel determinado por el modo de carga seleccionado. .

Notas Generales Sobre la Carga

Ventilador: Es normal que el ventilador esté encendido todo el tiempo.

Mantenga libre de obstrucciones al área cerca del cargador para permitir

al ventilador funcionar ecazmente.

Reanudación: Si se hace que el modo de carga cambie después de

que el proceso de cargar ha comenzado, (al oprimir el botón “CHARGE
MODE”) el proceso de cargar se reanuda.

Voltaje: El voltaje que se muestra durante el proceso de cargar es voltaje
de carga y por lo general es más alto que el voltaje en descanso de la

batería.

INSTRUCCIONES DE MANTENIMIENTO12.
Antes de efectuar mantenimiento, desenchufe y desconecte el cargador 12.1

de baterías (vea secciones 6.7 y 7.6)

Después de usar, desenchufar y limpie toda corrosión de la batería y otra 12.2
suciedad o aceite de los terminales, cordones y el estuche del cargador,
con un trapo seco.

No se requiere abrir la unidad para servicio, ya que no hay piezas que el 12.3
usuario puede atender.

INSTRUCCIONES DE ALMACENAJE13.

Guarde el cargador desenchufado, en posición recta. El cordón seguirá 13.1
conduciendo electricidad hasta no quedar desenchufado del tomacor­riente.

Guarde el cargador adentro, en un sitio seco y fresco (a no ser que esté 13.2

usando un Cargador Marino a bordo.

1. Cuando surge un problema en cargar, asegúrese de que la batería esté
en condiciones de aceptar una carga normal. Use una batería buena

para vericar todas las conexiones, un tomacorriente CA para 120 voltios

completos, las pinzas del cargador para polaridad correcta y la calidad de
las conexiones desde los cables hasta las pinzas y desde las pinzas al
sistema de batería. Las pinzas tiene que estar limpias.

2. Cuando una batería está muy frío, parcialmente cargada o sulfatada,
no recibe el total de amperios de régimen del cargador. Es a la vez peli­groso y dañino para una batería tratar de forzar dentro de ella un ampe-

raje mayor de lo que puede usar ecazmente en la recarga.

3. Cuando se presenta un PROBLEMA DE OPERACIÓN DESCONO­CIDO, sírvase leer el manual completo y llamar al número de servicio al
cliente para información que usualmente elimina la necesidad de devolver
la unidad.
