Assembly: (See photo details below) Assembly requires 3 to 4 people. The steps are as follows:
Make sure a wing stand is available (Stored In ASK-21 Trailer)
Get the tool pouch from the trailer Fig 1
Roll the fuselage out of the trailer - keep it in the fuselage cradle Fig 3
Make sure the rudder does not hit the middle rail support Fig 4
Clean and grease all pins, bolts, bushings and control system connections.
Make sure the dive brakes are unlocked in the wings
Install the left wing first
o The tip is lifted and backed out of the trailer as far as it will go o Walk the tip away from the fuselage perhaps 20 degrees o Lift the wing root and set it on the trailer rail o Walk the tip until it is opposite the wing opening o Rotate the wing to its flight attitude (horizontal) o Using 2 people, lift the wing root and install it in the fuselage o Once the wing is seated, put it on the wing stand
Install the right wing using the above procedure
Install and lock the wing main pins. Fig 5
DO NOT INSTALL THE REAR PINS BEFORE THE MAIN PINS.
Using the red T shaped tool, insert the rear pins. Fig 6, 7, 8
Make sure the spring locks secure these pins in place.
Connect the 4 manual control connections in the fuselage behind the spar tunnel.
When properly installed the pin on the ball socket will be extended, and the safety lock will be
properly positioned. See the drawings on the cover panel. Fig 9, 10
Before closing up the cover over the manual control connections in the fuselage, have a second
pilot verify proper connections.
Close and lock the control connection access cover.
Install the horizontal stabilizer from the front. Fig 11, 12
Use the Allan wrench to install the bolt at the leading edge. Fig 13
Make sure the spring-loaded safety pin snaps out over the screw head The elevator is automatic hookup.
Install the TE probe into the vertical stabilizer.
Install the wing-tip wheels. Fig 14
Perform Positive Control Check
Tape the: Wing roots, stab & fin gap, rear wing pin hole, horizontal stabilizer hole & control
access panel.
Lower and remove the fuselage cradle Fig 15, 19, 7 20
Return fuselage cradle and wing dollies to the trailer & secure in place Fig 16, 17
Return the tool pouch & wing stand to the trailer

Assembly & Disassembly

Disassembly: (See photo details below)
Disassembly is largely the reverse of assembly. It requires 3 to 4 people:
Make sure a wing stand is available (Stored In ASK-21 Trailer)
Get the tool pouch from the trailer Fig 1
Position the glider at the tail of the trailer.
Lift the glider on to the fuselage cradle
Position the fuselage cradle between the forward and rear cockpits. Fig 18
Put a wing stand under the left wing
Remove the TE probe and store carefully in the glider Fig 17
Remove the tape from the wing root, horizontal stabilizer & all other taped locations.
Remove the bolt in the leading edge of the horizontal stabilizer using the Allan wrench,
Remove the horizontal stabilizer by moving it forward. Fig 11,12
Do NOT rock the tips of the stabilizer to move it forward - this can damage it!
Install the horizontal stabilizer in the trailer fittings.
Disconnect the 4 control connections behind the spar tunnel.
Remove the rear wing pins using the red T shaped tool. Fig 6,7,8
Remove the wing-tip wheels. (Store in Blue ASK-21 tool box)
Make sure the wing fixtures in the trailer are at the back of the trailer
Remover the right wing first
o Support the tip
o Remove the main pins
o Slide the wing out, and walk the spar to the trailer rail o Rotate the wing to vertical o When the tip is perhaps 20 degrees from the fuselage, move the spar to the wing dolly. o NOTE: The pin hole closest to the wing tip goes onto the pin on the dolly. o Walk the wing into the trailer until it stops.
Repeat the above procedure for the left wing.
Clean & re-grease all fittings and store in tool pouch Fig 1
Strap the fuselage into the fuselage dolly, and roll it into the trailer. Fig 18
Make sure ALL tools and parts are in the tool pouch Fig 1
Return the Tool Pouch & Wing Stand to the trailer
If the trailer is going on the road, activate the over-center dive brake locks using the control
push rods.
