User Manual Dot-Matrix Display DMD 30/35
4
1 General description
DMD 30/35 range of dot-matrix display that can be used as Position Indicators-, direction- or re-starting Arrows, or a combination of both. The floor Position as well as the direction arrows can be displayed as follows: standing, flashing or scrolling. The displays are available with one digit (DMD 30/35H1/V1), with two digits (DMD 30/35-H2/V2) or with three digits (DMD 30/35-H3). The H1, H2 and H3 displays have there connections at the side of the display (as Illustrated below) and the V1 and V2 displays are connected from above. All Displays are configured and adjusted by DIP switches located on the back of the Display. The indicating characters/figures, including there functions can also be configured by a PC using SCHAEFER DMD ConfigKit and can be changed at any time. Two free-defined special horizontally rolling texts messages (up to 14 characters) can be included. As from software version
2.6 on the DMD up to four special texts can be configured.

3 Configuration
Two different kinds of configuration are possible:
• Configuration of the DMD 30/35 at SCHAEFER
according to the customer requirement
• Configuration of the DMD 30/35 on site.
Therefore a DMD-Config-Kit is needed (article No. 010575).
4 Connection
In order to connect the DMD 30/35 you require either a Connector PCB for Binary or Grey code or an Encoder PCB for signal per floor. (including ribboncable 25 cm).

5.1 Encoder or Connector ?
The table below gives you a general idea when an Encoder PCB or Connector PCB should be used. Depending on the number of Floors, horizontally rolling messages and type of arrows or travel signal used will depend on whether a connector or encoder is required.
Note: More than two special texts are only possible as from software version 2.6 on the DMD.
