APN1| Adaptive Platform with integrated seam tracking
DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTION
The APN1 from Scansonic offers a mechanical seam tracking system
for arc welding techniques.
Scansonic's patented seam tracking principle is based on a simple,
robust and reliable principle:
A filler wire provides the material for creating the seam and acts
simultaneously as a mechanical sensing device. Utilizing force
control, the tip of the filler wire is pressed into the weld joint and is
mechanically guided along the path of the joint. Any deviations from
the programmed path of the joint are compensated automatically
both laterally and in height by the APN; this allows it to keep the
torch head in an exact position above the path of the seam.
In conjunction with a master machine, the system can be controlled
by means of digital inputs and outputs via DeviceNet, Interbus or
Profibus.
ADVANTAGES
• Improved seam quality by guaranteeing the seam joint
through optimum process parameters
• Seam tracking system is impervious to soiling extraneous light
and the influence of heat
• Not contigent on pre-production, machining or master machine
tolerances
• Welding of small radii and complex seam paths
• Low programming requirements for robot/master machine
• Consistent TCP speed
• Alternative use of guide tip (MIG/MAG)
• Consistent welding arc length
• Suitable for both cold and hot wire techniques
