Digital Electronic Thermometer SC 2050
INSTRUCTION FOR USE
Device description and intended use
This digital thermometer is intended to measure human body temperature for children and adults; it has digital display and be used in household environment.
The digital thermometer is contraindicated:
1. Place the thermometer probe in scarred tissue or tissue compromised by any disorders of measuring site.
2. Place the thermometer probe on skin exposed to direct sunlight, fireplace heat, cold compress therapies, air conditioner flow, etc.
Features
1. Easy to read digital LCD (liquid crystal display).
2. Quick measurement, the minimum measuring time of oral and rectal is around 10 seconds with proper use.
3. Memory display for last temperature taken.
4. Compact, accurate and durable LSI (large scale integration) device.
5. Very sensitive to obtain temperature.
6. If the thermometer is inadvertently left on after temperature stabilization, it will automatically shut off in 30 seconds.
7. Small light weight unit.
8. The unit is water resistant
Precaution
1. Do not boil the probe. Instead, clean the unit by wiping it with a dry cloth and disinfect the probe with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. See cleaning instructions for details.
2. Do not drop the thermometer or expose it to heavy shock.
3. Do not bite or swallow the probe and the battery cover.
4. Do not let thermometer come into contact with any thinner or chemical solvents
5. Do not store the unit under direct sunlight, at a high temperature, in high humidity or dust. Performance may be degraded.
6. Stop using the thermometer if it operates erratically or if the display malfunctions.
7. Keep out of reach of unsupervised children. Do not let children play with the unit. Temperature should be taken under adult supervision.
8. Components may be harmful if swallowed. Contact a physician immediately should this occur.
9. Clean the thermometer probe before storing.
10. Do not attempt to disassemble the unit except to replace the battery.
11. Do not use if the display malfunctions or it operates irregularly.
12. Do not put this unit in dishwasher.
13. If the thermometer has been stored at below-freezing temperatures, allow the thermometer to warm naturally to room temperature before using.
14. Performance of the thermometer may be degraded if: Operated or stored outside stated temperature and humidity ranges or if the patient's temperature is below the ambient (room) temperature.
15. Before using, it is recommended to no drinking, smoking or excising for at least twenty minutes prior to do a measurement and no talk, walk during measuring, it may cause inaccurate reading.
16. Only use the thermometer indoors.
17. W hen the battery is almost exhausted, the symbol “ ” will appear in the display window, meaning it’s time to discard.
18. The reading is for reference, if feel sick or uncomfortable, please contact the physician.
19. The thermometer is a direct mode thermometer. Measuring site is reference body site and the measuring site is oral and rectal.
Device description
How to use
1. Press and release the ON/OFF button, the display read all segments and confirming that the unit is functioning properly.
2. Then the display will show L°C with °C flashing. If the room temperature is greater than 32.0°C, it will display rather than L°C.
3. Place the probe in the appropriate position.
4. Once the degree sign °C stops flashing, the measurement is finished and the temperature is displayed. An alarm signal will also sound for approximately 5 seconds after °C stops flashing.
5. The unit will automatically turn off in 30 seconds (approx.). However, to prolong battery life, it is best to press the ON/OFF button to turn off once the temperature has been indicated.
Last-Temperature Memory Recall:
When the ON/OFF button is depressed to activate the thermom- eter, hold down for approximately 5 seconds. The display of 188.8 will change to show
the last reading. This reading is displayed as long as the button is held down. When the button is released, the thermometer will be in “ready-to-measure” mode and the recalled temperature will be erased.
Fever alarm:
If the temperature registers higher than 37.5°C, the fever alarm (a quick beeping sound which occurs continuously for about 8 seconds) will sound when the peak temperature has registered. Also, the result will keep flashing until the thermometer is turned off.

Reliable method to measure temperature
BODY TEMPERATURE: A person’s body temperature will usually be several tenths to one full degree
lower in the morning than it is in the late afternoon. Therefore, if your temperature is 36.6°C in the morning, it could be 36.9°C or more in the late afternoon and still be normal. To determine what your normal body temperature is you should take your temperature both in the early morning and in the late afternoon over several days. Children have the same normal temperature range as do adults. A fever for both children and adults is typically defined as a temperature over 37.5°C. Exercise, excessive clothing, hot bath, hot weather, warm food and drink can cause mild elevations of up to 38.0°C to 38.4°C . If you suspect one of these to be the cause of an elevated reading, eliminate the possible cause and retake the temperature in a half hour.
Measurement locations
In the mouth (oral)
Small temperature variations in the mouth between measurements are normal. These are caused by varying temperature distribution within the mouth. Try to place the thermometer in one of the two heat pockets under the tongue, to the left and right of the tongue root. The measurement sensor must have good contact with the tissue. The subject should close the mouth and breathe normally through the nose so that the measured result is not affected by breathed air. Measuring period: approx. 10 seconds
In the anus (rectal)
This is the safest method. It is particularly suitable for infants and small children. Guide the thermometer point carefully 1 - 2 cm into the anus. Measuring period: approx. 10 seconds
Under the arm (axillary)
From a medical viewpoint this type of measurement leads to inaccurate values. It is therefore unsuitable for carrying out exact measurements.
Trouble shoting
Battery replacement
Auto detection is error. Please return to the distributor.
Temperature at the probe above 43.9°C
Temperature at the probe below 32.0°C
The device detects low battery. Please change the battery.
1. When the symbol " " appears, the battery needs to be replaced.
2. Using a coin, unlock the battery cover by turning it counter-clockwise and carefully remove the battery with a non-metal instrument from the battery holder. Avoid of using any sharp metal object in this operation.
