Your pager sets a new standard in Tone & Voice Paging. It is a highly reliable and very compact synthesized receiver, equipped with a built-in speaker and cellular type telescoping antenna and is shipped with a AA” size NiCd battery and a single unit desktop charger. Battery Installation
Sceptar can be operated with a single AA” size battery, which can be either a dry type (Alkaline) or a rechargeable 700 mAh NiCd (Nickel Cadmium) battery.
1. Ensure the Slide Switch is in the OFF” position.
2. Move the Locking Slide toward the center of the battery cover, as shown in illustration. Then slide the cover toward the bottom of the pager to remove it. Insert the negative (-) end of the battery into the page press the positive (+) end down. The battery compartment is marked with negative (-) and positive (+) positions.
3. Replace the battery cover and reset the Locking Slide.

Single Unit Desktop Charger
Use only the specified NiCd battery type. The charger will charge one battery, installed in the pager, as well as a spare battery. Pages can be received during charging, so long as the pager is in Select” or Monitor” mode.

When Select is activated, the pager will only accept calls addressed to it. When paged an alert tone will be emitted, the red lamp will blink, and a voice message will follow.
1. Turn the pager on by moving the Slide Switch to the “N” position.
2. Press and hold the RESET/M” button (for noise) and then press the up/down ” buttons to set the volume to desired level.
3. After setting the volume, release the RESET/M” button to set the pager to Select mode.

Monitor
When Monitor is activated, the pager will monitor all communication (as a Carrier Squelch Receiver”) on the selected channel as well as receiving pages. When paged an alert tone will be emitted, the red lamp will blink, and a voice message will follow.

2-Channel Operation (Software Option)
This function allows a second channel to be used. The Channel Select Switch is located on the bottom of the pager. All standard and optional features are available on both channels.
Priority Scan (Software Option)
This feature provides a priority type scan function. The setting (1 or 2) of the Channel Select Switch indicates the priority channel. The scan function operates in either Monitor mode for monitor scanning or Select mode for silent scanning. The priority sampling rate is set during programming. Note : Same Frequency Scan can not be achieved in the Monitor mode. If Ch. 1 and Ch. 2 are programmed with the same frequencies, then the pager must be operated in the Select mode to continue to scan.
Automatic Reset (Software Option)
This function automatically resets the pager to Select mode. The reset function can be set during programming to activate after a specified period of time or at the end of the voic
e message.
Low Battery Alarm (Software Option)
This function emits a constant alert tone when the battery voltage has dropped to a level insufficient for reliable operation. The NiCd battery should be recharged or a new Alkaline battery should be inserted.

Vibrate Alert
In Vibrate Alert mode, the pager vibrates when a call is received, instead of emitting an alert tone and voice message. Operation is same as for Mute”.

RECORD: Recording is activated when an alert page is received. A recorded message is stored until the next alert page or the pager is turned off.
PLAYBACK: Press the Slide Switch inward to playback the stored message.
SAVE: Move the Slide Switch to the N” position to save the current message. This also stops the voice reco action.
REPLAY: Move the Slide Switch to the M” position and press it momentarily to replay the saved message.

Vibrate Alert and Voice Storage Combined
These combined options will operate in the same way as those outlined in respective instructions. The only exception is the Vibrator run time, it will be the same as the programmed Voice Storage record time.

Fixed Alert (Hardware Option)
This function sets the alert tone volume at the maximum level,
regardless of the audio volume ( ”) setting.
Earphone
Connect the earphone to the jack located on the top of the pager. The internal speaker will be disconnected.
Clip Removal
1. Using a screwdriver, press down on the stopper claw on the rear cover, as shown in illustration, and rotate the clip counterclockwise to unlock.
2. Rotate the clip and lift up and out.
3. For installation, reverse steps 1 & 2.
