2. Disconnect the MAF Sensor wiring
harness from the sensor. Disconnect the
harness from the air box lid.
3. Disconnect the crank case vent hose and
the fuel pressure regulator vent hose from the
OE intake tube.
4. Loosen the hose clamp at the throttle
body and air box locations. Then remove the
OE intake tube from the truck.
5. Loosen the two bolts secure the OE air
box to the inner fender. Then remove the air
box from the truck by lifting up and sliding the
inlet tube out of the fender hole.
7. For those concerned about minimal engine heat and noise; insert the Air Inlet Plug (C) into the
side of the Air Box (B). For those seeking additional air flow, set the Air Inlet Plug aside. Plug will
snap into place and can be removed by taking the lid off and pushing from inside the air box. (See
Box (B) using the supplied 1/4-20 Hex Screw (M)
and 1/4” Washer (N). Install the Grommet (J)
into the large hole of the Mounting Bracket (F).
Apply small amount of thread locker to the screw.

Hex Screw (L) and 6mm Washer (N). With the
fender seal covering the fender opening,
tighten all three screws securing the air box.
14. Install the Small Grommet (P) into the
hole of the Intake Tube (A). Then insert the
large end of the Hose Reducer (Q) into the
grommet.
15. Push the Hose Mender (O) into the 1/2”

2. Loosen the hose clamp and carefully pull the filter off the tube and turn it clockwise
3. Carefully remove the filter through the top of the air box.
Helpful Hint
Some vehicles experience a high pitch whistle at
2000-2200rpm. This noise has been associated
with increased air flow but is also common on
stock vehicles. You can remove the throttle body
and replace the gasket/ screen with Toyota part
#: 22271-50050 without this screen. Doing this
will also decrease restriction.

Testing and Maintenance
Engage parking brake and start your engine.
•
Listen for abnormal noises. If an air leak is
detected, re-inspect hoses and connections as
they may need to be repositioned and tightened.
S&B Filters recommends that you keep your OE
•
intake system in the event it is required in the
future.
In order to maintain your warranty, all connections
•
and components must be checked periodically for
alignment and for proper tension on all
connections every 6-12 months. Failure to do so
may void your warranty.
Use only S&B FILTERS cleaning and oil products
•
to service your filter. Using any other brand oil
and or cleaners on your S&B air filter will void
your warranty.
Air Box End Cap Testing
Stock air boxes are a significant contributor to poor air flow which is why S&B designs custom air boxes with secondary and/or enlarged openings. With
that said, S&B recognizes the benefits of cooler air, so we have included a plug to seal off the opening if so desired. For optimal performance, we
recommend that the intake be used without the end cap except in conditions of extreme heat. Without the plug installed on the box, there is an additional
improvement in airflow.
Visit the product page for this intake at www.sbfilters.com to see the actual test results outlined in detail.
