PROGRAMMING THE REMOTE
TO THE OWNER
Welcome to the World of Sanyo
Thank you for purchasing the Sanyo “Moonlight” Universal Remote Control. You made an excellent choice for Performance,
Reliability, Value, and Styling.
The RMT-U100 replaces three separate remote controls. This simplifies the operation of your home entertainment system. This remote will operate your Video Cassette Record e r , Te l e v i s i o n , and Cable Conve rter Box. Simply program it according to the directions in this owner’s manual. Then press the proper function key (VCR, TV, or CABLE ) to operate each product.
The Sanyo Universal Remote Control features large glow-in-
the-dark basic operating keys. It also has function keys that light when a key is pressed. This indicates the active mode. You
never need to wonder which component the remote is controlling. Just observe which mode key lights. That’s the answer.
The RMT-U100 universal remote control comes with keys that are preset to operate your Video Cassette Recorder, regardless of the mode you have selected.

Special Operating Conditions
– The Caption, Menu, and Reset keys will operate only Sanyo
televisions. This is true even when you program the remote to operate another brand of TV or when you select the VCR or Cable mode.
– The Display, Sleep, Vol+, Vol –, Mute and Recall keys operate TV
functions regardless of the mode selected.
– The Video key has no function in the Cable mode.
– The Recall key has no function in the VCR and Cable modes.
– Refer to the original owner ’s manual for specific operation of
certain functions, such as; Sleep and Recall.
Operating Tips and Troubleshooting Hints
– To operate each product (VCR, TV, or Cable Box ), you must
first press the proper mode key (VCR, TV, or CABLE ).
– Some manufacturers use different types of remote controls. If
your brand lists several codes, try the code listed first. If necessary, reprogram with each number until you find the correct code.
– There may be VCRs, TVs, and Cable Boxes that this remote
cannot operate and some models may operate only partially.
– The remote control must be reprogrammed after batteries are
replaced.
– Remove the batteries if the remote will not be used for a month
or more. Weak batteries may leak, causing damage to the remote control. (Normal battery life is roughly six months.)
– This remote control uses an invisible (infrared) light beam to
operate the equipment. Objects between the VCR, TV, or Cable Converter Box and the remote can block this light beam. Therefore, the remote control must be pointed directly at the front of the VCR, TV or Cable Converter Box.
– This remote control cannot add features to your equipment.
They must have been originally provided by your manufacturer.
– If the remote fails to operate any of your equipment replace
the batteries. Be sure they are installed correctly.
