Before operating this LCD Projection TV, read this manual thoroughly and operate the LCD Projection TV properly. This LCD Projection TV provides many convenient features and functions. Operating the LCD Projection TV properly enables you to manage those features and maintains it in better condition for a considerable time. Improper operation may result in not only shortening the product-life, but also malfunctions, fire hazard, or other accidents. If your LCD Projection TV seems to operate improperly, read this manual again, check operations and cable connections and try the solutions in the “Troubleshooting” section in the end of this booklet. If the problem still persists, contact the dealer where you purchased the LCD Projection TV or the service center.

– Install the LCD Projection TV in a proper position. If not, it
may result in a fire hazard.
– Provide appropriate space on the top, sides and rear of the
LCD Projection TV cabinet for allowing air circulation and cooling the LCD Projection TV. Minimum clearance must be maintained. If the LCD Projection TV is to be built into a compartment or similarly enclosed, the minimum distances must be maintained. Do not cover the ventilation slot on the LCD Projection TV. Heat build-up can reduce the service life of your LCD Projection TV, and can also be dangerous.
– Do not put any flammable object or spray can near the LCD
Projection TV, hot air is exhausted from the ventilation holes.
– If the LCD Projection TV is not to be used for an extended
time, unplug the LCD Projection TV from the power outlet.

Care for Using the LCD Projection TV
When using the LCD Projection TV, the following precautions should be taken. Otherwise, the screen can be damaged:
Do not push or hit the screen surface.
Do not write, paint or affix anything on the screen.
Do not put anything on the LCD Projection TV.
For cleaning the LCD Projection TV, refer to "Cleaning the LCD Projection TV" on p57 and maintain it properly.
NOTE:
Black dots or bright points of light (red, green, or blue) may appear on the screen. This is a characteristic of the LCD panels, not a mulfunction of the LCD Projection TV.
Do not push or hit the screen.

Safety Instructions
All the safety and operating instructions should be read before the product is operated.
Read all of the instructions given here and retain them for later use. Unplug this LCD Projection TV from AC power supply before cleaning. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.
Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the LCD Projection TV.
For added protection to the LCD Projection TV during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet. This will prevent damage due to lightning and power line surges.
Do not expose this unit to rain or use near water... for example, in a wet basement, near a swimming pool, etc...
Do not use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer as they may cause hazards.
Do not place this LCD Projection TV on an unstable cart, stand, or table. The LCD Projection TV may fall, causing serious injury to a child or adult, and serious damage to the LCD Projection TV. Use only with a cart or stand recommended by the manufacturer, or sold with the LCD Projection TV. Wall or shelf mounting should follow the manufacturer's instructions, and should use a mounting kit approved by the manufacturers.
An appliance and cart combination should be moved with care. Quick stops, excessive force, and uneven surfaces may cause the appliance and cart combination to overturn.
Slots and openings in the back and bottom of the cabinet are provided for ventilation, to insure reliable operation of the equipment and to protect it from overheating.
The openings should never be covered with cloth or other materials, and the bottom opening should not be blocked by placing the LCD Projection TV on a rug, or other similar surface. This LCD Projection TV should never be placed near or over a radiator or heat register.
Do not install the LCD Projection TV near the ventilation duct of air-conditioning equipment.
This LCD Projection TV should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure of the type of power supplied, consult your authorized dealer or local power company.
Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords as this can result in fire or electric shock. Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Do not locate this LCD Projection TV where the cord may be damaged by persons walking on it.
Do not attempt to service this LCD Projection TV yourself as opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltage or other hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
Unplug this LCD Projection TV from wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the following conditions: a. When the power cord or plug is damaged or frayed. b. If liquid has been spilled into the LCD Projection TV. c. If the LCD Projection TV has been exposed to rain or water. d. If the LCD Projection TV does not operate normally by
following the operating instructions. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions as improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the LCD Projection TV to normal operation.
e. If the LCD Projection TV has been dropped or the cabinet
has been damaged.
f. When the LCD Projection TV exhibits a distinct change in
performance-this indicates a need for service.
When replacement parts are required, be sure the service technician has used replacement parts specified by the manufacturer that have the same characteristics as the original part. Unauthorized substitutions may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
Upon completion of any service or repairs to this LCD Projection TV, ask the service technician to perform routine safety checks to determine that the LCD Projection TV is in safe operating condition.
This LCD Projection TV should not be placed in a built-in installation such as a book case unless proper ventilation is provided.
Never push objects of any kind into this LCD Projection TV through cabinet slots as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short out parts that could result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the LCD Projection TV.

Features and Design
This LCD Projection TV is designed with the most advanced technology for various use. This LCD Projection TV has a large screen and utilizes built-in multimedia features, a palette of 16.77 million colors, and matrix liquid crystal display (LCD) technology.
Plug & Play
The Plug & Play function enables you to be free from complicate channel preset operation in first time installing the LCD Projection TV.
Compatibility
The LCD Projection TV widely accepts various video and computer input signals including;
Computers
IBM-compatible or Macintosh computer up to 1280 x 1024 resolution.
4 Color Systems
NTSC, PAL, SECAM, NTSC 4.43 color system can be connected.
Component Video
Component video signal, such as a DVD player output high definition TV signals including 480i, 480p, 575i, 575p, 720p, or 1080i, can be connected.
S-Video
S-Video signal, such as a S-VHS VCR output signal, can be connected.
Simple Computer System Setting
The LCD Projection TV has the Multi-scan system to conform to almost all computer output signals quickly. (See page 46.)

Power Management
The Power management function reduces power consumption and maintain the lamp life. (See page 54.)
Lamp Mode
Brightness of the projection lamp can be changed by setting. The LCD Projection TV has the function to adjust the brightness according to an input signal for the best suited image. (See page 17, 54.)
Bilingual Menu Display
Operation menu is available in English and Chinese (See page 53.)
Digital Visual Interface
The LCD Projection TV is equipped with DVI 29-pin terminal for connecting DVI output from a computer or video equipment. You can also enjoy digital entertainment content protected by HDCP technology. (See page 44 for HDCP.)
High Quality Audio System
This LCD Projection TV has audio system to produce high quality sound. There are Bass, Treble, and Balance functions on the menu of the LCD Projection TV so that you can enjoy powerful sound with large screen.
The LCD Projection TV employs 45" and 55" large-sized screen and LCD panels (1280 x 720 resolution) of 16 : 9 ratio so that you can enjoy high definition broadcast or high quality image from the computer in a full large screen.
Timer Functions
Unique and convenient timer functions are provided for this LCD Projection TV.
Off Timer
The LCD Projection TV can automatically be turned off at your desired time between 30 and 120 minutes. (p54)
On Timer
The LCD Projection TV can automatically be turned on at your desired time between 1 and 120 hours. (p18)
No Operation Shut Off Timer
The LCD Projection TV can automatically be turned off when no one operates the LCD Projection TV over 3 hours. This function serves to maintain the lamp life, save power, and keep safety while you left the place for a long time. (p53)
Active 3D Surround
This LCD Projection TV provides 3 dimentional surround sound.
Picture Level Memory
The picture settings that you adjusted can be stored in memory for each channel position from 1 to 30. You can enjoy viewing your favorite TV programs with your prefered picture quality anytime you want. (See page33-35)

Installation
Installing the LCD Projection TV
Note on Plug & Play
This LCD Projection TV provides "Plug & Play" function. Before connecting the AC power cord into an AC outlet and turn on the LCD Projection TV, necessary preperation should be done as directed in the following pages.
Placing and Settling the LCD Projection TV

Air Circulation
Openings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation and to ensure reliable operation of the product and to protect it from overheating, and these openings must not be blocked or covered.
CAUTION
Hot air is exhausted from the exhaust vent. When using or installing the LCD Projection TV, the following precautions should be taken.
– Do not put any flammable objects near the vent. – Keep the exhaust vent at least 1.5’(50cm) away from
any objects.
– Do not touch a peripheral part of the exhaust vent,
especially screws and metallic part. This area will become hot while the LCD Projection TV is being used.
Cooling fans are provided to cool down the LCD Projection TV. This LCD Projection TV monitors internal temperature and control the running speed of the cooling fans.
Place the LCD Projection TV on flat places or with an exclusive LCD Projection TV stand. Placing on unflat places may cause picture tilt or distortion.
Do not place the LCD Projection TV under direct sunlight. This may have a damaging effect on picture quality and the screen surface of the LCD Projection TV.
CAUTION
Never touch the Projection Screen directly with hand. It may effect the projection image quality.

Remote Control Operating Range
Point the remote control toward the LCD Projection TV (Infrared Remote Receiver) whenever pressing any button. Maximum operating range for the remote control is about 16.4’ (5m) and 60° in front of the LCD Projection TV.

To insure safe operation, please observe the following precautions :
Use (2) AA, UM3 or R06 type alkaline manganese batteries.
Replace two batteries at the same time.
Do not use a new battery with a used battery.
Avoid contact with water or liquid.
Do not expose the remote control to moisture, or heat.
Do not drop the remote control.
If a battery has leaked on remote control, carefully wipe case clean and install new batteries.
Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type.
Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.
Slide the batteries into compartment.
Replace the compartment lid.

For correct polarity (+ and –), be sure battery terminals are in contact with pins in compartment.

Preparation
Connecting the AC Power Cord
This LCD projection TV uses nominal input voltages of 100-120 V or 200-240 V AC. This LCD projection TV automatically selects the correct input voltage. It is designed to work with single-phase power systems having a grounded neutral conductor. To reduce risk of electrical shock, do not plug into any other type of power system. Consult your authorized dealer or service station if you are not sure of the type of power being supplied. Connect the LCD Projection TV with all peripheral equipment before turning the LCD Projection TV on. (See p14, 15 for connection.)

The S-VIDEO jack has priority over the VIDEO jack under the condition of
connecting both the S-VIDEO jack and the VIDEO jack when selecting AUTO in the Input Menu (p37).
Computer signal can not be output from the OUTPUT terminal.
The S-VIDEO signal can be output from the S-VIDEO jack of the OUTPUT

Basic Operation
Turning On the LCD Projection TV
Connect the LCD Projection TV's AC power cord into an AC

outlet and the POWER indicator turns into red. Press the POWER ON-OFF button on the front panel of the LCD

Projection TV or the remote control. The cooling fans start to operate. The POWER indicator blinks green rapidly for 15 seconds.
The POWER indicator lights green and the input source that was

selected last will be displayed on the screen.
NOTE
While the POWER indicator blinks green rapidly, no operation of the remote control and the front control can be accepted.
Turning Off the LCD Projection TV
Press the POWER ON-OFF button on the front control or on the remote control. The POWER indicator turns into orange, and it continues while the cooling fans are operating (for about 4 minutes). The LCD Projection TV can be turned on again immediately in the 4 minutes.

When the LCD Projection TV has cooled down enough, the POWER indicator lights red. Then you can disconnect the AC power cord.
TO MAINTAIN THE LIFE OF LAMP, ONCE YOU TURN YOUR LCD PROJECTION TV ON, WAIT AT LEAST 5 MINUTES BEFORE TURNING IT OFF. DO NOT DISCONNECT AC POWER CORD WHILE COOLING FANS ARE RUNNING OR BEFORE POWER INDICATOR LIGHTS RED. OTHERWISE IT WILL RESULT IN SHORTENING LAMP LIFE.
NOTE
The LCD Projection TV cannot be turned on during the cooling period with the POWER
indicator blinking red. You can turn it on again when the POWER indicator lights orange or red.
Do not use the LCD Projection TV for more than 24 hours continuously. Turn off the LCD
Projection TV at least once in 24 hours and give it a rest. Continuous use may result in shortening the lamp life.
This LCD Projection TV monitors internal temperature and automatically controls the
running speed of the cooling fans.
If the WARNING indicator blinks or lights red, see “Warning Indicator” on page 56.

Direct Operation
Volume
Press the VOLUME (+/–) button on the front control or on the remote control to adjust volume. The volume dialog box appears on the screen for a few seconds. Press (+) button to turn up the volume and (–) button to turn it down.
Mute
Press the MUTE button on the remote control to minimize sound. To restore sound to its previous level, press the MUTE button again or press the VOLUME (+/–) button.
Surround
Press the SURROUND button on the remote control to provide a surround (3 dimensional) sound.
Audio Selection
Select an audio mode best suitable for the broadcasted program or the input source among Music, Talk, Normal and Personal by pressing the AUDIO-S button on the remote control.

Basic Operation
Picture Freeze Function
Press the FREEZE button on the remote control to freeze the picture on the screen. To cancel the FREEZE function, press the FREEZE button again or press any other button.
Recall Function
Press the RECALL ( ) button on the remote control to display the selected channel position, Color system, and SIF system in TV mode and the selected input mode in video or computer mode. Press the RECALL ( ) button again to make it disappear while the indication is on the screen.
NOTE:
Holding down the RECALL button for more than 2 seconds brings you to Channel Block Setting mode. (See p32 for detail on the operation.)

On Timer Function
The On Timer function is provided to turn on the LCD Projection TV automatically and select a desired input mode.
Select an input mode that you want to view when the LCD

Projection TV is turned on automatically. Press the ONTIMER button on the remote control. Initial

setting time "1:00" will be displayed and the ONTIMER indicator will light yellow.
Press the ONTIMER button repeatedly until your desired

time is displayed. The time changes as follows:

Turn off the LCD Projection TV by pressing the POWER ON-

OFF button on the remote control or the front control. When the selected time has elapsed, the LCD Projection TV is automatically turned on from the stand-by mode with the input mode selected and the ONTIMER indicator turns off.
When the LCD Projection TV is operating under the On Timer function is set.
When the selected time has elapsed, the input mode will be changed to the one you select when setting the On Timer function and the ONTIMER indicator turns off.
