5. Alignment and Adjustments

5-1 FBT B+ Voltage Adjustment

PREPARATION

1. Note: The B+ voltage adjustment (FBT) is done during the chassis check at the factory. Perform this adjustment after Sub-Brightness and Convergence.

2. Warm up the TV for at least for 10 minutes.

3. Input 100% white pattern.

4. Select the ÒSTANDARDÒ video mode.

ADJUSTMENT

1. Connect the leads of a multimeter to GTP29 (B+) and GTP30 ( G).

2. Set VR401 (on deflection board) to either 126V (for NTSC), or 125V (for PAL).

5-2 Lens Focus and Static Focus Adjustment

5-2-1 Static Focus (Electric Focus)

PREPARATION

1. Select the ÒSTANDARDÒ video mode.

2. Input a crosshatch pattern.

3. Cover the lenses that are not being adjusted.

4. Connect a convergence jig and read data.

5. Adjust the lens for best focus.

ADJUSTMENT

Vary the focus pack VR (Red, Blue) on the front cabinet. Adjust the TV for best possible focus around the center of the crosshatch pattern, without losing overall screen balance.

5-3-2 KEY Function

1. R-SELECT Button

Press to select or mute RED color.

2. G-SELECT Button

Press to select or mute GREEN color.

3. B-SELECT Button

Press to select or mute BLUE color.

4. Cancel Button

Press to revert to the previous data during convergence adjustments.

5. FINE/COARSE SELECT BUTTON

Press for minor adjustment.

If the width of the big-adjustment step is 1, then the width of the minor

adjustment step is 0.5.

6. Convergence. Select Button

Press for big adjustment.

7. LINE SHIFT

Press to move a line up/down or left/right.

8. FACTORY DATA SELECT BUTTON (Yellow Key)

Press to call the factory default values.

9. H/V DIRECTION SELECT BUTTON

Press to switch the cursor direction horizontally or vertically.

10. SAVE BUTTON

After the Convergence Adjustments are completed, press to save data.

11. EXIT BUTTON

After the Convergence adjustments are completed, press to exit to TV mode.

12. MOVE CURSOR FORWARD

Press to move the cursor right or down.

13. MOVE CURSOR REVERSE

Press to move the cursor left or up.

14. Data Shift Button

Press to transmit data (PAL mode ®NTSC mode).

15. CONVERGENCE PICTURE MOVE BUTTON

Press to enter the convergence mode or balance color.

Press to balance color.

5-3-3 Preparation

Warm up the TV for at least 30 minutes.

5-3-4 Adjustment for PAL System

1. Input a PAL signal. (Use an antenna or AV source.)

Make sure that both deflection and convergence yokes are properly adjusted so

that the center of Green, Red, Blue pattern is aligned on the center of screen jig.

2. Press the Key on the remote control, so that the symbol appears. Select a red or

blue pattern (use the key) and adjust the colors (use the Channel and Volume keys).

Superimpose the red, blue and green colors.

After adjustments 1 and 2 are completed, press the Escape key and check the picture condition. If

the convergence is not properly adjusted, then proceed with the following adjustments

3~18.

3. Enter the Convergence Adjustment Mode (crosshatch pattern) by pressing the remote-control

keys (at regular speed) in the following sequence:

4. To adjust GREEN, press the and keys once (so that the red and blue colors

can be muted). Then, display a green pattern by pressing the key. (At this time, the

green color is erased and then displayed.)
