Setting up your Refrigerator
Now that you have your new refrigerator
installed and in place, you are ready to
set up and enjoy the full features and
functions of the appliance.
By completing the following steps, your
refrigerator should be fully operational.
If the refrigerator does not operate, rst
check the power plug and your fuse or
circuit breaker box. If that does not resolve
the issue, consult the troubleshooting
section at the back of this user guide.
If you have any further questions, contact
a Samsung Electronics service center.
1. Conrm the refrigerator in an
appropriate location with reasonable
clearance between the wall and the
refrigerator.
Refer to installation instructions in this
manual.
2. Once the refrigerator is plugged in,
make sure the interior light comes on
when you open the doors.
3. Set the temperature control to the
coldest temperature and wait for an
hour.
The freezer should get slightly chilled
and the motor should run smoothly.
4. After you plug in the refrigerator, it
will take a few hours to reach the
appropriate temperature.
Once the refrigerator temperature is
sufciently cool, you can store food and
drink in the refrigerator.
After you plug in the refrigerator, the
refrigerator chime will sound.
Press the Freezer or Fridge button to
turn the chime off.

control panel, you will hear a short
beep.
If you do not press any buttons for
a period of time, all the LEDs on the
display turn Off except the Freezer
LED to minimum energy consumption.

Freeze, Chill, and Cool LEDs turn on
when the corresponding functions
are activated. The freezer LED will
turn off if all the other indicators (Soft
Freeze, Chill, and Cool) turn on.

Fridge
Press the Fridge button to set the fridge to a temperature
between 34°F and 44°F. The default temperature is 37°F.
Each time to you press the Fridge button, the temperature
changes in the order shown below. The temperature
indicator will display the temperature you selected.

Handle Lighting
Hold down the Fridge button for 3 seconds to activate the
Handle Lighting function.
When the Handle Lighting function activates, the Light under
the fridge door will always turn on.
Hold down the Fridge button for 3 seconds again and
Handle Lighting function turns off. The Light is ON when the
freezer door is open. (The Light is OFF when the fridge door
is open or when the fridge door and freezer door are BOTH
open.)

Freezer
Press the Freezer button to set the freezer temperature
between 5°F and -8°F. The default freezer temperature
is 0°F. Each time to you press the Freezer button, the
temperature changes in the order shown below.
The temperature indicator displays the temperature you
selected.

Power Freeze
Use Power Freeze to freeze items in the freezer more
quickly. To activate Power Freeze, hold down the Power
Freeze button for 3 seconds.
The Power Freeze indicator ( ) lights and the Freezer
indicator remains unchanged.
Power Freeze will remain active for 50 hours, and then turn
off automatically if you do not turn it off manually.
When the Power Freeze process is complete, the Power
freeze indicator switches off and the freezer switches back
to the previous temperature setting.
Note that when you use this function, energy consumption
will increase. Remember to turn it off when you do not
need it and return the freezer to your original temperature
setting. To deactivate this function, hold down the Freezer
button for 3 seconds.
If you need to freeze a large amount of food, activate the
Power Freeze function 20 hours before you put the food into
the freezer.

Operating your Refrigerator
Hold down the Cool Select+ button for 3 seconds to enter the
freezer setting mode for the freezer.
Keep pressing the button to cycle through and select a
desired mode from one of the following:
Select “Freezer” to run the freezing mode
for the freezer. Note that you must use the
Freezer button on the control panel if you
want to change the temperature.
Select “Soft Freeze” to set the temperature
to 23°F (-5°C).
This feature helps keep meat and sh
fresh longer.
Select “Chill” to set the temperature to
30°F (-1°C).
03 Cool Select+ /
Change Mode (3 sec)
Select “Cool” to set the temperature to
35°F (2°C).
You can keep water, juice, soft drinks, beer,
etc. cold.

CAUTION
• If you switch the current mode to another freezer mode,
food stored in the freezer may spoil.
• If you select a Cool Select+ setting that is not appropriate
to the food you are going to store, the food may freeze or
spoil.
• If the refrigerator turns on after being off for an extended
period of time (for example, after a power failure), Cool
Select+ may be reset to the factory default. If this occurs,
check if the previous setting remains. If not, re-select the
setting manually.

Control Lock
Hold down this button for 3 seconds to activate the Control
Lock function.
04 Control Lock (3 sec)
The Control Lock indicator( ) will light and all the buttons
will be locked and de-activated.
Hold down this button for 3 seconds to turn Control Lock off
and re-activate the buttons.
CHEF Mode
If “CHEF( )” is lit, it means that the CHEF Mode is operating now.
Cooling Off Mode
On North American (US, Canadian) Models Only. Cooling Off mode (also called Shop mode),
is designed for use by retailers when they are displaying refrigerators on the shop oor.
In Cooling Off mode, the refrigerator’s fan motor and lights work normally, but the
compressors do not run, and the refrigerator and freezer do not get cold.
To activate Cooling Off mode, hold down the Freezer button and the Cool Select+ button
simultaneously for 6 seconds. When the upper and lower temperature indicators blink,
press the Fridge button.
The refrigerator chime sounds and the temperature display ashes “OFF”.
To deactivate Cooling Off mode, hold down the Freezer button and the Cool Select+ button
simultaneously for 6 seconds. When the upper and lower temperature indicators blink,
press the Fridge button.
