1. Introduction.
This edition of the manual is intended for buyers of a SAMON Onion loader. It contains information for the use and maintenance of this machine.
When this guide was compiled the utmost care was taken to ensure that the illustrations and technical data are correct and current for this manual.
Ellens Landbouwtechniek BV recommends users to carefully read this manual, instructions, directions and comments before using the machine.
References to the left or right side of the machine are determined based on the driving direction of the machine.
Ellens Landbouwtechniek BV reserves the right to change the content of this manual without notice.
This machine was designed in accordance with the provisions of the machinery directive 89/392/EEC + amendments.

2. Warranty and liability.
2.1 Warranty.
SAMON agricultural machinery comes with a warranty period of 1 season.
SAMON Onion loaders are designed and intended for loading onions.* If the SAMON Onion loader is used in a manner other than intended such will be considered to be improper use.
* For loading any other type crops, always first check with your Samon dealer.
This warranty is provided on construction defects in the machine encountered during normal use.
Parts that are subject to wear are not covered by this warranty, these are:
Sprockets, chains, guide wheels, Sieve belts, Harvest knifes Bearings, Other parts subject to wear.
The Warranty on hydraulic components, PRO shafts and gear drives is given only on construction defects of the components, which result in failure, in the opinion of the producer.
This warranty lapses in the following instances:
Constructive adjustments and changes to the machine without permission from Ellens Agricultural
Engineering BV.
Installation and use of components on or to the Onion loader that has an adverse impact on the
solidity of the construction.
Failure of components due to maintenance intervals not being observed. Changes to or non-adherence to adjustments and settings prescribed, which could result in damage.
Our dealers and manufacturing service points are all available to provide information and guidance.
2.2 Liability.
Ellens agricultural engineering BV is not liable for damage to Samon agricultural machinery; tractors; machines of third parties; injuries to humans, animals and products as a result of:
improper use. not following instructions and instructions described in the manual.

The SAMON Onion loader must be operated, maintained and repaired by persons who are familiar with the machine and its safety procedures.

3. Safety and the environment.
3.1 General safety.
NOTE!!!
Make sure that all persons that work with the SAMON Onion loader and/or that perform maintenance on it read this manual carefully and take the required precautions for their own safety and others in the area while operating the SAMON Onion loader.
Always keep the following points in mind when working with or on the SAMON Onion loader.
The SAMON Onion loader must only be operated, maintained and repaired by persons who are
familiar with the machine and who are familiar with the safety procedures.
When performing inspections and maintenance on the SAMON Onion loader always switch the tractor
engine off and remove the key from the ignition.
The SAMON Onion loader is equipped with rotating sieve/elevator belts that can entrap body parts. Never come close to a SAMON Onion loader while in operation. Always wait until the sieve belts have come to a complete halt before approaching the machine. Keep in mind that the sieve belts will keep turning for a while after the SAMON Onion loader has been
switched off.
When an object is hit, switch off the SAMON Onion loader and check for damage before switching
back on again.
The SAMON Potato windrower contains a number of parts that are fitted locking pins and safety belts
and/or chains. These must always be connected.
Damaged and broken safety devices and locking agents must be replaced immediately. Protective covers, sleeves and rubber flaps must always be undamaged. Always replace when dented
or cracked.
Always use original SAMON parts as they are specifically designed for the Samon Potato windrower.
3.2 Environment.
For ecological reasons cleaning and maintenance to the SAMON Onion loader must take place on a hard, liquid­proof floor.
NOTE!!!
Dispose of used lubricants in an environmentally friendly manner. We recommend delivering old oil in a closed tank at a recycling centre or a collection point. Never dispose of old oil in a ditch, drain or sewer or on the soil.

4. Inspect before and during use.
WARNING!!!
When performing maintenance on the SAMON Onion loader always switch the tractor engine off and remove the key from the ignition.
4.1 Checks needed before use.
Check the entire hydraulic system for leaks. Check the tire pressure. (2.5 Bar) Check if the locking clips and safety cords are in place. Check the protection covers for damage. Check the sieve and elevator belt for damage and wear. Check the drive wheels and rollers for wear. Check the safety bolts of the wheels. Check the tension of the elevator belt. (6.2) Check if the elevator is running correctly on the rollers. Check the tension of the drive chain (between the hydraulic motor and elevator belt) Check the scrapers for war.
4.2 Check needed during use.
Check the depth of the intake, make sure it goes about 1 cm through the ground. Check the onions for damage. Check the wheel track. Check the tiller ends and the tillers for wear, particularly the bottom and inner sides. The tillers are
there to protect the frame of the SAMON Onion Loader, so make sure to replace early to prevent damage to the frame or bearings.
WARNING!!!
Due to the various compositions of soil types it is possible that the tillers could wear out faster. Inspect them regularly to prevent damage to the SAMON Onion loader.

5.1 Connecting the SAMON Onion loader and setting sieve/elevator belt speed
Connect the SAMON onion loader to the tractor. Make sure that the three locking pins are locked with the safety clips and safety cords.
A. On/off sieve belt B. Speed sieve belt C. Speed elevator belt D. On/off elevator belt
P. Press max. 50 liters R. Open retour.
WARNING!!!
When mounting the hydraulics, always use an pressure-free retour.
5.2 Setting wheel track.
The wheel track can be adjusted with the rear right wheel.
Adjusting the track:
Lift the machine until the wheel is free from
the ground.
Loosen the locking bolts. Slide the wheel to obtain the required track. Tighten the two locking bolts.
WARNING!!!
Always use all the locking bolts and make sure the wheel is not retracted too far!

6. Maintenance.
WARNING!!!
Make sure that the tractor's engine has been switched off and the key has been removed from the ignition before you carry out maintenance on the SAMON Onion Loader.
6.1 Lubrication schedule
The SAMON Onion Loader needs to be lubricated regularly to achieve optimum performance.

6.2 Tensioning elevator belt.
If the inspection reveals that the elevator belt needs to be tensioned then the belt can be tensioned as follows.
Tensioning the elevator belt
On both sides of the elevator belt are bots which can adjust the tension of the belt.
- Loose the safety nut (A) on both sides of the
belt.
- Equally Tighten bolts (B) on both sides of the
belt.
- Tighten safety nuts (A) on both sides again.
Adjusting the elevator belt
- Loose the safety nut.
- Adjust until the belt starts running onto the
center.
- Tighten the safety nut again.

7. Transport and storage.
7.1 Placing the elevator into loading/transportation position.
WARNING!!!
Only change to loading/transportation position when the tractor has been cut off.
Placing the SAMON Onion loader into loading position:
1. Place the machine on a well levelled ground.
2. Take out the safety clip from the transport-locking pin (A).
3. Turn the elevator to the rear of the machine.
4. Secure the elevator with click C.
5. Fix the transport licking pin A into fixing point B.
Placing the SAMON Onion loader into transportation position:
1. Place the machine on a well levelled ground.
2. Loosen click C.
3. Turn the elevator alongside the machine.
4. Take out the transport locking pin A from fixing point B.
5. Fix the safety clip.

7.2 Transport on transportation vehicle.
Check the height and width of the SAMON Onion Loader and mark any projecting parts, where
applicable.
Make sure that the machine is fastened securely with strong rope or tensioning belts before the
transport.
Block the wheels with wheel blocks.
7.2 Transport behind a tractor
Observe the prevailing traffic regulations when you transport the SAMON Onion Loader behind a
tractor on the public roads.
When you are steering the tractor bear in mind that the tail of the SAMON Onion Loader swings out in
bends.
The driver's view is obstructed when the tractor is towing the SAMON Onion Loader.
7.4 Storage.
Clean the machine thoroughly.

Inspect the safety cords and locking clips for damage and cracks. Store the machine when it is dry.

9. Ordering parts
Follow the instructions shown below when you are ordering parts to make sure that you receive the correct parts quickly.
1. Order parts only from official SAMON dealers.
2. State the type, model and serial number of your machine shown on the type plate.
The type plate is mounted on the frame near the drawbar.
3. Measure the width of the SAMON Onion Loader's sieve and conveyor belt, as the correct type
of many parts depends on the width of the sieve/conveyor belt.
4. Always state the full part number and description of the part.
