Installation Instructions – Whitebox Version 1
Installation of the SamKnows Whitebox is straightforward and proceeds as follows:
Check to ensure you have the necessary parts; which should include:
1 x SamKnows Whitebox (a white TP-Link device)
1 x Antenna
1 x Network cable
1 x Power supply
Connect antenna to the back of the SamKnows Whitebox. (These are used to passively
monitor nearby wireless networks for traffic, to ensure no tests are run when the line is active –
we do not monitor your traffic)
Connect one end of the network cable to a spare port on your router. Connect the other end
to the blue port marked “WAN” on the rear of the SamKnows Whitebox.
Disconnect any other wired network devices from your home ADSL / cable router. Plug them
into the ports marked 1 – 4 on the rear of the SamKnows Whitebox.
Connect the power cable to the SamKnows Whitebox, and press the power button on the back
of the unit.
The light under the padlock symbol (on the far right) will flicker for approximately 30-60
seconds and then stay on solidly.
You will receive an automated email within 48 hours to confirm it is all working and we have
detected that your unit is operational. The email will contain your login details to view your
SamKnows Analytics.

2 x Antennas
1 x Network cable
1 x Power supply
Connect antennas to the back of the SamKnows Whitebox. (These are used to passively

– we do not monitor your traffic)
Connect one end of the network cable to a spare port on your router. Connect the other end
to the blue port marked “Internet” on the rear of the SamKnows Whitebox.
Disconnect any other wired network devices from your home ADSL / cable router. Plug them
into the ports marked 1 – 4 on the rear of the SamKnows Whitebox. (Please note the USB
ports are non functional)
Connect the power cable to the SamKnows Whitebox, and press the power button on the
back of the unit.
The WPS LED (far right hand side, labeled with 2 revolving arrows) will flicker for
approximately 30-60 seconds and then stay on solidly.
You will receive an automated email within 48 hours to confirm it is all working and we have
detected that your unit is operational. The email will contain your login details to view your
SamKnows Analytics.
