Motion Sensor

Meet your Motion Sensor

The Motion Sensor lets you know when movement is
detected in a certain area and can trigger different actions
in response to that movement (or lack of movement).

How to connect a Motion Sensor

Select “Connect New Device” in the free SmartThings
mobile app and then remove the “Remove to pair” tab found
in the Motion Sensor.

Installation Tips

The Motion Sensor works best if it’s within 15 feet (4.5
meters) of the SmartThings Hub when you connect it.

If your device doesn’t connect

If your device doesn’t connect after removing the pull-tab,
hold the “Connect” button while inserting the battery.
Release the button when the LED is lit. The LED will blink
blue while attempting to connect. Then select “Connect New
Device” in the SmartThings app.

Using the Motion Sensor:

You'll want to place your Motion Sensor so that the circular
sensor is facing the area that you'd like to monitor. Be sure
that no objects are directly blocking the Sensor's line of
detection. By angling the sensor downward, it will be able to
detect movement of pets. By angling it upward or by placing
it flat in elevated area, it won't detect the movement of pets.

Replacing the battery

To replace the battery in your Motion Sensor, use a flat tool
to carefully remove the battery from the device. Then add a
new battery and close the cover back into place.

One (1) Year Limited Warr anty

SmartThings, Inc. warrants this product (the “Product”) a gainst defects in
materials and/or workma nship under normal use for a period of ONE (1)
YEAR from the date of purchase by the original purchaser (“Warranty
Period”). If a defect arises and a valid cla im is received within the Warranty
Period, then as your sole remedy (and SmartThings’ sole liability),
SmartThings w ill at its option either 1) repair the defect at no charge, using
new or refurbished replac ement parts, or 2) replace the Product with a new
product that is functionally equivalent to the original, in each case wi thin 30
days following receipt of the returned Product. A replacement product or
part, assumes the remaining warranty of the original Product. When a
Product or part is exchang ed, any replacem ent item becomes your property
and the replaced Product or part becomes SmartT hings’ property.

Obtaining Ser vice: To obtain warranty ser vice, visit
suppor t.smartthings.com to speak wi th a service age nt or open a service
request. Please be prepared to descr ibe the Product that needs service and
the nature of the problem. A purchase receipt is re quired. T he Product must
be insured, and shipped freight prepaid and securel y packaged. You must
contact suppor t for a Return Mater ial Auth orization Number (“RM A
Number”) before shippin g any Product, and include the RMA Number, a
copy of you r purchase receipt and a descriptio n of the problem you are
experi encing with the Product. A ny claim under this Limited Warrant y must
be submitted to SmartThings befo re the end of the Warranty Period.

Exclusions: This warranty does not apply to: a) damage c aused by failure to
follow instructions relating to the Product ’s use or the installation of
components; b) damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, transp ort,
neglect, fire, floods, earthquake or othe r external causes; c) damage
caused by service per formed by anyone w ho is not an authorized
represe ntative of SmartThings; d) accessories used in conjunction with a
covered Product; e) a Product or part that has been modified to alter
functionality or capability; f) items intended to be periodically replaced by
the purchaser during the normal life of the Product, including, w ithout
limitation, bat teries, bulbs or cables; g) a Product that is used commercially
or for a commercial purpose, in each case as determined by SmartThings.

EXCEPT FOR BODILY INJURY, SMARTTH INGS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE
FOR (I) ANY LOST PROFITS, COST OF PRO CUREMENT OF SUBSTIT UTE
