IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed including the following:
1. Read all instructions.
2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
3. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
4. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
5. To protect against electrical hazards, do not immerse cord, plugs, or the appliance in water or other liquid.
6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to Salton for examination, repair or adjustment. All servicing, other than cleaning, should be performed by an authorized service representative. See Warranty section.
7. The use of accessories or attachments not recommended by Salton may cause hazards.
8. Do not use outdoors.
9. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, in a heated oven or microwave oven.
10. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
11. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
12. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
13. To disconnect, turn any control to ‘OFF’, then remove plug from wall outlet. Always hold the plug, never pull the cord.
14. Extreme caution must be used when moving a pot or pan containing hot oil or hot liquids from this appliance.
15. Do not leave unit unattended while in use.

16. Do not clean the appliance with metal scouring pads. Pieces can break off the pad and touch electrical parts, creating a risk of electric shock.

HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY
GROUNDED PLUG
To reduce the risk of electric shock this appliance has a grounded plug (2 blades and 1 pin). If the plug does not  t fully into the electrical outlet contact a quali ed electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way or use an adaptor.
HOW TO USE
Any  at-bottomed pot or container that can be used on a conventional electric stove element can also be used on the Infrared Cooktop.
1. Place the Cooktop on a smooth, dry,  at surface. For proper ventilation provide at least 4 – 6 inches (10 - 15 cm) of space above and around the appliance.
2. Be sure that the ON/OFF Knob on the back left side of the unit is turned to the OFF position and the Temperature Adjustment Knob on the front of the unit is on ‘0’.
3. Plug into a 120 Volt A.C. wall outlet.
4. Place  lled cookware on the burner. NOTE: DO NOT operate the burner without  lled cookware on the burner. Always use a pot or pan that is similar in size to the burner. Center the pot or pan on the burner.
5. Turn the ON/OFF Knob to the ON position by turning clockwise.
6. Turn the Temperature Control Knob clockwise to desired setting. NOTE: #5 is the highest setting. The Indicator Light will glow and go ‘on’ and ‘off’ as the selected temperature is automatically maintained.
7. When  nished cooking, always turn the appliance off by turning the ON/OFF knob counter clockwise to the OFF position and turn the Temperature Control Knob to the ‘0’ position. Unplug the unit from the wall outlet.

CAUTION: Allow the unit to cool completely before handling. The burners will remain hot for at least 1 hour.
IMPORTANT:
• DO NOT preheat before using.
• DO NOT switch on before  lled cookware is placed on the burner.
CARE AND CLEANING
1. Unplug appliance and allow it to cool for at least 1 hour.
2. The outside of the appliance can be cleaned with a cloth or sponge dampened in warm soapy water. NEVER USE ABRASIVE CLEANSERS this may scratch the surface of the Housing.
3. NEVER IMMERSE THIS APPLIANCE IN WATER OR ANY OTHER
LIQUID.
4. All servicing, other than cleaning, should be performed by an authorized service representative. See Warranty section.

A short supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of becoming entangled in or tripping over a long cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounded 3-wire cord. The extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table top, where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
LIMITED WARRANTY
**The original sales receipt is the only acceptable proof of purchase**
Salton Canada warrants that this appliance shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of  ve (5) years from the date of original purchase. Salton Canada, at its sole discretion during this warranty period, will repair or replace a defective product or issue a refund. Any refund to the purchaser will be at a pro-rated value based on the remaining period of the warranty. All liability is limited to the amount of the purchase price. This warranty covers normal domestic usage and does not cover damage which occurs in shipment or failure which results from alteration, accident, misuse, abuse, glass breakage, neglect, improper maintenance, use contrary to the operating instructions or commercial use. This warranty is not available to retailers or other commercial purchasers or owners.
This warranty does not include the cost of shipping, which is to be borne by the customer.
