Cyto-Tek® 2500 Centrifuge
The Cyto-Tek® 2500 Centrifuge is a self-contained
instrument designed to transfer cells from human
and/or animal suspension onto a glass slide by
cytocentrifugation.
The instrument, as part of the cyto-pathology
process, is intended to facilitate the in vitro
examination of human and animal material for cell
structure changes by a pathologist.
The user instructions for the Cytochambers can be
found in the operating manual and in the User
Guide V-1 Cytology chambers 1, 6 and 12 ml,
which can be found on the Distribitor area.

Components and Functions
1. Powerswitch:
Turns the instruments power on and off.
2. Control Panel:
Provides the controls and indicators to
display the instrument status.
3. Lid:
Is opened by pressing the blue button on
top of the lid and closed when the guard
bowl is placed onto the instrument. A lid
interlock mechanism is provided to prevent
access to the guard bowl during operation.

4. Guard Bowl:
Accomodates the rotor. The guard bowl is
detachable, and has an own detachable lid.
5. Rotor:
Is a circular casing with compartments
where up to 12 specimen chambers can be
palced at one time. It also facilitates as a
stand when fluid samples are dispensed
into the specimen chambers.
6. Bowl Lid:
Securely seals the guard bowl, a lock
button is provided on top of the lid knob.

Control Panel
The controls and indicators to display the
instrument status ar listed.
1. START/STOP key:
Starts and stops the operation
2. SET key:
Let’s the operation mode switch to the
“Program Mode” and “Set & View Mode”.
3. (down-arrow) key:
Decreases a program number and a setting
value for speed or proces time.
4. (up-arrow) key:
Increases a program number and a setting
value for speed or proces time.
5. Program Number display:
Displays a program number from 1 to 30.
6. Speed Display:
Displays a program speed or actual speed.
7. Time display:
Displays a programmed time or process
time left.
8. Lid Lock indicator:
A LED lights up when the lid is locked at
the start of operation and goes out when
the lid is unlocked after the motor has
stopped.
9. Power indicator:
A LED lights up while the power is supplied
to the instrument.

How to load the Guard Bowl
1. Use an even number of specimens chamber
assemblies. Arrange them in the rotor so
that pairs of specimen chamber holder
assemblies are opposite pairs.
Caution: Place equal size specimen chamber holders in opposite
positions.
2. If there are an odd number of specimen
samples to process, maintain the rotor
balance by adding one specimen chamber
filled with water to pair with the last
specimen.
3. If all twelve specimen holder positions in
the rotor are not filled, additional pairs of
water-filled speci-men chamber holder
assemblies may be added as necessary to
keep the rotor balanced.

the right position

Starting the operation
1. Place the guard bowl into the instrument
and close the lid.
2. Press the up or down arrow key until the
desired program number is obtained. If a
desired program does not exist, make
changes to create a new program.
Note: to create a program review the Setting Instructions in
the Operating Manual.
3. Press the START/STOP key to start the
operation. The instrument is locked during
operation.

Daily
Control panel cleaning
1. Wipe the control panel with a clean cloth
moistened with neutral detergent.
Interior and exterior surfaces
1. Clean with a dry clean cloth or a cloth
moistened with ethylalcohol or isopropylalcohol 70%-80%.
Caution: Do not use volatile fluids like xylene, thinner, benzene
Caution: Do not spray a disinfectant directly on or over the
instrument.
Monthly
Guard bowl and rotor cleaning
1. Disassemble the guard bowl unit.
2. Steralize the guard bowl body and
components in an autoclave for > 20
minutes at 121°C
When no autoclave is available:
1. Disassemble the guard bowl unit.
2. Soak guard bowl body and components in
an ethylalcohol or isopropylalcohol 70%80%.
3. or sodium hypochlorite 0.5% solution for at
20 minutes.
4. Wash with water and soap.
5. Rinse with clear water.
6. Dry thoroughly (when using an oven keep
temperature below 120°C).
Yearly
1. Replace the lid and top gasket.
2. Preventative maintenance by a Sakura
representative or a qualified service
engineer.

Error handling
When a power outage occurs while the
instrument is in operation, the instrument lid
will remain locked. When the motor stopped
the lid can be opened mechanically.
1. Remove a small cap located on the left side
of the instrument.
2. Insert and push an unlock bar into the hole.
