SAFETY NOTICES

• When operating the Sailrite Blade Foam Saw, always keep your hands
away from the cutting edge. Do not touch the blades.

• Stay alert at all times and watch what you are doing, and pay attention
to your surrounding area. Use common sense while operating this
tool. Wear protective eyewear while tool is in use.

• Unplug the tool when not in use and before servicing or changing the
blades.

• Be sure to always keep the power cord clear of the blade when in use,
and do not wrap the cord around the blade when storing the tool.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

• Always make sure the screw (A) under the base plate is securely
tightened before using the foam saw. If angled cuts need to be made,
the base plate can be detached by loosening the screw.

• For the best-looking cuts, don’t force the blade. Let the foam saw cut

slowly into the foam at its own speed for the rst 1/2 inch.

• Do not use or store the foam saw near water.

• To avoid accidental operation of the tool, do not carry the tool while

plugged in with your nger on the switch.

• Do not operate the foam saw near ammable liquids or in gaseous
or explosive atmospheres. The motor in the tool normally sparks and

might ignite fumes.

• When working with dense foam, apply pressure to the top of the foam
with your free hand, keeping your hand out of the path of the blade.

• To aid in cutting, spray the outside of the blade guard with a silicone
spray as often as needed. This enables the foam to easily glide past
the blades.

• Variable speed adjustments can be made using the speed dial on the

top of the tool. Most foam types are cuts most efciently at a speed
setting of 2 or 3.

• Note: The Sailrite Blade Foam Saw, like most foam cutters, is made

from a modied jigsaw. Therefore, the vent at the back and the lever

on the side of the tool serve no purpose.

LUBRICATION

For general maintenance of your foam cutter, the moving blade should be occasionally lubricated with any lubricating oil. This reduces heat and
friction on both sides of the moving blade and prolongs the life of the motor.

1. Stop the motor so that the moving blade is in the “up” position, exposing about 1/2 inch of blade at the top of its blade guide.

2. Apply the lubricant to both sides of the moving blade at the top of the blade guide. The up and down motion of the blade will then distribute the oil

onto the blade guide on either side of the blade.

CHANGING THE BLADE

First, unplug the tool. Using the hex key provided, loosen and remove the two set screws that hold the cutting assembly to the motor body. Carefully
slide the assembly downward. The stationary blade will remain in the cutting assembly while the moving blade will remain in the motor body.

To replace the moving blade (attached to the motor body)
Use Replacement Moving Blade #121245:

1. Loosen the set screws on the block at the top of the blade.

2. Remove the blade by sliding it down and out.

3. Insert a new blade, being sure to push it all the way up into the silver

locking block.

4. Tighten the screws.

5. Return the cutting assembly to the motor body by carefully sliding the
moving blade back downward into the cutting assembly. Make sure

that the moving blade is positioned to the right-hand side of the xed

blade (when the blades are facing you).

6. Replace and tighten the two set screws that hold the cutting assembly
to the motor body.

To replace the stationary blade (attached to the cutting assembly)
Use Replacement Stationary Blade #121738:

1. Remove one of the screws on the small plate mounted to the top of
the cutting assembly. Loosen the other screw only slightly.

2. Pivot the small plate out of the way.

3. Remove the stationary blade by carefully sliding it up and out.

4. Insert a new blade.

5. Replace the small plate and insert the screws. Make sure that the
short slit at the top of the stationary blade is interlocked to the small
plate. Tighten both screws.

6. Return the cutting assembly to the motor body by carefully sliding the
moving blade back downward into the cutting assembly. Make sure

that the moving blade is positioned to the right-hand side of the xed

blade (when the blades are facing you).

7. Replace and tighten the two set screws that hold the cutting assembly
to the motor body.

WARRANTY

Sailrite warrants the Sailrite Blade Foam Saw (with exception of the blades) for a period of one year, starting from the date of sale, against defects in
material and workmanship. This warranty is voided by improper use, disassembly, repair or alteration by owner or unauthorized parties.
