installing the ga-101
Mount the Gate Alarm sensor in accordance with local codes and/or regulations where applicable.
1 Confirm the locations of the Gate Alarm
holder, the reed switch and the activation magnet before proceeding.
Note: The reed switch and the activation magnet are normally mounted FRONT facing, but for latch gaps of more than 1 inch [2.5 cm.] they may need to be side facing.
2 The holder must be attached so the Gate
Alarm is in an upright position. Use two wood screws to secure the holder to the top of a wooden fence post or frame. Use self-tapping metal screws, not included, to attach the holder to the horizontal top railing of a metal fence. [If there is no top railing, a nylon cable tie may be used to attach to a metal post.] Insert the Gate Alarm housing into the holder.
side mounted configuration
3 A mounting template is
provided to locate the screw holes for the reed switch and the activation magnet. Mount the reed switch to the stationary frame of the gate using two screws. Note the orientation of GRI logo. Both the [GRI] logos on the reed switch and the activation magnet must be oriented in the same direction, up or down.
4 Mount the activation magnet to the moving
frame of the gate, opposite and parallel to the reed switch, with the GRI logos aligned. The facing surfaces of the reed switch and the activation magnet must not be separated by more than 1.5 inches [3.8 cm.].
5 The Gate Alarm housing is water resistant,
but not waterproof. Do not immerse it in water or allow water to enter from the bottom. Do not remove the foam underneath the housing. It serves to protect against the elements.
