R6 SUPREME AIS Operation Short Instruction
1 - Power / Dimmer button (multi-colour)
Quick press will toggle dimming levels and press and hold to power off the CDU. The button changes colour depending on Alert status.
2 - F1 - Function Key
Provides quick access to the Navigational Status view and toggle NavStatus.
Provides quick access to the Operational Mode view and toggle VHF transmission mode.
Provides quick access to the Voyage setting view.
5 - F4 - Function Key
Provides quick access to the Plot view.
6 - HOME Key
Provides quick return to Target List view from any other screen, including Configuration/Status Mode screens.
7 - F-key function indicators
Indicates the current function of its corresponding physical Function Key located to the right, also works as touch buttons.
8 - Alert status field
Will indicate if any alerts are present in the system. Touch for quick access to Alert list view.
9 - Main Menu button
Provides access to lists of all available screens of the system, as well as access to the Configuration/Status menus.
GENERAL OPERATION
SYSTEM NAVIGATION
Key elements that are used to control and observe the system are
identified below. Note that the physical function keys work in both
Operative views and Status/Configuration views to toggle between the various views or menus. The descriptions below applies only to the Operative views.
10 - Time and status indications field
Colon in time stamp will blink as long as the R6 CDU is responsive. Provides indications of new received AIS text messages.
11 - Operative Options
All these options belong to the Operative Mode. Select any of these options to enter.
12 - AIS/CDU Tabs
For the Status View and Configuration Mode it is possible to toggle between the AIS menu and R6 CDU menu by selecting the ship symbol or the display symbol respectively.
13 - Status button
Shows the status of the AIS and the R6 CDU.
14 - Configuration button
Press the cogwheel to enter Configuration Mode

This quick user guide serves as a complement to the standard “R6 SUPREME System Manual” with P/N 7000 121-304. These instructions gives the user immediate access to essential information to operate the system on a daily basis.
BEFORE VOYAGE
SET VOYAGE RELATED PARAMETERS
These are set from the AIS Voyage view accessed by the Main Menu.
DURING VOYAGE
SET NAVIGATIONAL STATUS
Enter the Navigation Status view by the Main Menu or by optionally using a function/sidebar –button and select correct NavStatus.
VIEW/ACKNOWLEDGE ACTIVE ALERTS
Enter the alert list by the icon in the bottom right corner of the status bar.
OPERATIONAL MODE
Enter the Operational Mode view by the Main Menu or by optionally using a function/sidebar -button and set transponder to normal or silent mode (VHF transmissions off)
HANDLING SRM & TEXT MESSAGES
Safety related messages (SRMs) and Text Messages can be sent to specific targets addressed or broadcast to all targets.
BRIGHTNESS AND DIMMING
Adjust pre-setting of day/dusk/night LCD and LED dimming levels in the
Visual Settings” CDU Configuration view. Quick press the Power/Dimmer button to toggle between the levels during operation.

TOWING
Tow dimensions are added to the normal ship dimensions sent over AIS
when navigational status is “Power driven vessel pushing/side towing”
(Navstatus 12). Accessible by the Main Menu.
A letter symbol will be displayed below the clock in the top left corner when a message has been received. Enter the
Message view by the
Main Menu or just click
the letter symbol.
CHANGING PARAMETERS
Many views contain parameters that can be edited (colour marked). To edit a parameter, simply press it on the screen. Thereafter press the save-button which will appear on the screen if a change has been done.
DO NOT TURN OFF TRANSPONDER POWER WITHIN 2 SECONDS OF A PARAMETER CHANGE!
Data can be entered in the following ways:
- Text/Numbers through a virtual keyboard. Press characters on screen directly and press ENTER to confirm. Press ESC to undo changes.
- Selection List: Parameters with fixed values are displayed in a drop-down list shown when parameter is selected.
- Selection List and Numeric Input: in views like AIS Message it is possible to select a target MMSI from a selection list. It is also
possible to enter any MMSI number by pressing the pen symbol.
- Checkbox: Some parameters with only on/off or enable/disable options can be displayed by a checkbox. Just Click to check/uncheck.
