• KEEP THE SAW DRY AND CLEAN (FREE FROM OIL AND GREASE). Always use a clean cloth to clean your saw.
Never use brake fluid, petrol, petroleum-based products or solvents to clean your saw.
• ALWAYS SUPPORT LONG WORKPIECES to minimize the risk of the blade jamming and to avoid the blade walking
while cutting long or heavy planks.
• BEFORE MAKING A CUT, ENSURE THAT THE SAW IS CORRECTLY SET UP.
• AVOID CUTTING WOOD WITH NAILS IN. When cutting wood, check for nails and remove them.
• ALWAYS USE A VICE to secure the workpiece when possible.
• NEVER TOUCH THE BLADE or other moving parts during use.
• NEVER START A TOOL WHEN THE BLADE IS IN CONTACT WITH THE WORKPIECE. Allow the blade to come up
to full speed before starting to cut.
• MAKE SURE THAT THE MITRE TABLE AND THE BEVEL ADJUSTMENT ARE FIRMLY SET BEFORE OPERATING
YOUR SAW.
Clamp the mitre table by tightening the mitre clamping lever. Clamp the bevel adjustment by tightening the bevel clamping
knob.
• NEVER USE A LENGTH STOP ON THE FREE END OF A CLAMPED WORKPIECE.
NEVER hold or clamp the free end of the workpiece during cutting. If a vice and length stop are used simultaneously,
they must both be used on the same side of the saw blade to avoid the saw catching the offcut and throwing it.
• NEVER cut more than one workpiece at a time. DO NOT STACK more than one workpiece on the saw table.
• NEVER PERFORM ANY OPERATION "FREEHAND".
Always place the workpiece on the mitre table firmly against and parallel to the fence to support it. Always use the fence.
• NEVER hand hold a workpiece that is too small to be clamped. Keep hands clear of the "keep hands clear" zone.
• NEVER reach behind, under or within 80 mm of the blade and the cutting line with your hands and fingers for any reason.
• NEVER reach to pick up a workpiece, a piece of scrap or anything else that is in or near the cutting line.
• AVOID AWKWARD OPERATIONS AND HAND POSITIONS where a sudden slip could cause your hand to move into
the blade. ALWAYS make sure you are well balanced. NEVER operate your mitre saw on the floor or while crouching
down.
• NEVER stand or have any part of your body in line with the saw blade.
• ALWAYS release the trigger and allow the saw blade to stop rotating before raising it out of the workpiece.
• DO NOT TURN THE MOTOR SWITCH ON AND OFF RAPIDLY. This could cause the saw blade to loosen and could
create a hazard. Should this ever occur, stand clear and allow the saw blade to come to a complete stop. Remove the
battery pack and retighten the blade clamping bolt.
• REPLACEMENT PARTS. All repairs, whether electrical or mechanical, should be made by qualified technician at a
RYOBI Service Centre.
WARNING: Only manufacturer's original replacement parts must be used. Using any other spare part may be
dangerous or damage your saw.
• NEVER USE YOUR TOOL IN AN EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERE.
Sparks from the motor may ignite flammable vapours.
• NEVER leave the saw unattended while connected to a power source.
• IF ANY PART OF THIS MITRE SAW IS MISSING or breaks, is bent or fails in any way, or if any electrical component
fails, stop the saw, remove the battery pack and have any damaged, missing or faulty parts replaced before using the
saw again.
• DO NOT OPERATE TOOLS WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS OR ALCOHOL OR IF YOU ARE TAKING
MEDICATIONS.
• ALWAYS BE CAREFUL. When you have used the tool a number of times and you have become familiar with it, do not
make mistakes by being careless. Remember that a moment of inattention is sufficient to inflict severe injury.
• STAY ALERT AND REMAIN IN CONTROL.
Watch what you are doing and use common sense. Do not operate the tool when you are tired. Do not rush.
• MAKE SURE THE WORK AREAIS WELL LIT to see the work and that there are no hazards BEFORE using your saw .
• ALWAYS TURN THE SAW OFF before disconnecting it, to avoid starting the saw accidentally when re-applying the
power.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR BATTERY-POWERED TOOLS
• Bear in mind that battery-powered tools are always ready to operate as they do not have to be plugged into an electrical
socket. Be aware of the risks of cordless tools when they are not being used and when changing accessories.
• Remove the battery pack from the tool and make sure that the trigger is locked before making any adjustments,
changing accessories or storing the tool. These safety precautions reduce the risk of the tool starting accidentally.
• When the battery pack is not in use, keep it away from metal objects such as paper clips, coins, keys, nails,
screws and other small metal objects that might short the battery terminals. Shorting the battery terminals may
cause sparks, burns or fires.
