SPEAKER INSTALLATION
zz
When mounting the speakers:
zz
Check to verify that there is adequate mounting depth for the speakers (note
using the speaker spacers reduces the required mounting depth to approx: 22mm). Cut a 150mm diameter hole to mount the speaker in.
zzz
Drill 4 holes for the mounting screws. NOTE the screws supplied are suitable for
standard mounting. As there are many mounting locations and mounting material options for RV’s, Marine & Outdoor applications, please ensure you use specialised screws (not supplied) if mounting on irregular surfaces or material depth.
zz
If the mounting surface is smooth, please use the supplied mounting gaskets
between the speaker and mounting surface. If the mounting surface is uneven (eg RV installation), please use the appropriate foam sealant tape or suitable RV Sealant.
SPACERS
These speakers are supplied with custom speaker spacers. These spacers have a number of optional uses:
Allows the speakers to be angled up or down towards the listener if mounted in
either a high or low location.
zzz
For the LED version of this speaker, when used as a combined speaker &
awning light, the spacer allows the light to be angled downwards to ensure the area around the RV is lit evenly.
zzz
Where the available mounting depth of the speaker is limited, use of the spacers
reduces the speaker’s required mounting depth to around 22mm.
Mounting the Speakers Using the Spacers:
zz
Cut a 80mm diameter hole to mount the speakers in (this is for the part of the
speaker that protrudes past the depth of the spacer.
zz
Mount the spacers on to the mounting surface by using the four recessed screw
holes. If required seal the spacers using one of the methods described above.
zz
Wire the speaker (and LED’s for the LED model) as per the wiring instructions
on P3.
zz
Then fit the Rubber Gasket as a seal and screw the speaker on to the spacer.
Please ensure you do not over tighten the screws.
WIRING
Please ensure that the speakers are connected paying attention to positive & negative speaker connections from the source unit. Ensure the speaker terminals do not come in contact with any metal surfaces and are securely attached using the supplied cables and connectors or are attached using the appropriate terminals.
LED LIGHT
In addition to the speaker terminals, the LED version (P/N: 041850) has additional wiring for connection of power to the integrated LED lighting system. The LED power wires are coloured Red (+) and Black (-). These should be connected to a 12V or 24V power source that is controlled by an external switch (for instance the power wire running to a standard roof/interior light that is being replaced).
Please ensure the power connection is insulated either with crimp terminals or heat shrink and when mounting the speaker, make sure that both the speaker connection wires and LED power cable are stored in the mounting cavity and not crushed by the edge of the speaker.
If you are unsure about any elements of these installation guidelines, please seek the advice of an experienced RV installer or suitable Electrician.
