SA-ZX3
Keypad Splitter
for Russound Controllers
Instruction Manual
SA-ZX3 Overview
The SA-ZX3 Keypad Splitter is an RNET®or CA controller system accessory that converts one Keypad Port on a controller into connections for up to three keypads.
The SA-ZX3 can also be used to provide additional power when two or more UNO-TS2 Touchscreens are connected to a CAV6.6 or CAM6.6 controller.
The SA-ZX3 requires a 1A 12VDC power supply (P/N 1201A). The SA-ZX3 connects to the controller’s keypad port with an RJ45 CAT-5 patch cable. The keypad connects to the SA-ZX3 with a CAT-5 110 punchdown on the keypad end and an RJ45 connection on the SA-ZX3 end.
All keypads sharing an SA-ZX3 control the same zone. If an UNO-TS2 Touchscreen shares an SA-ZX3 with an UNO-S1 or UNO-S2, the touchscreen must be configured for the same zone.

Caution: Disconnect power to the controller until all connections have been made and verified.
Installation
Position the SA-ZX3 near the controller and source equipment. For clean installations, use an RJ45 wall plate (optional) near the SA-ZX3, and then wire from the wall plate to the keypad.
Connections
The SA-ZX3 connects to the controller’s keypad port with an RJ45 CAT-5 patch cable. The Keypad Ports are located on the back of the controller.
Attach one end of an RJ45 CAT-5 patch cable to the controller’s Keypad Port, and the other end to the SA-ZX3 Controller Keypad Port.
Use an RJ45 CAT-5 patch cable between each SA-ZX3 Keypad Port and an RJ45 wall plate. Determine the length of CAT-5 needed to run between the wall plate and the room where the keypad is located. Terminate the CAT-5 as instructed at the wall plate using T568A standard. At the keypad end, terminate the CAT-5 using the 110 punchdown connection on the back of the keypad.
Configuration
All keypads sharing an SA-ZX3 control the same zone. If an UNO-TS2 Touchscreen shares an SA-ZX3 with an UNO-S1 or UNO-S2, the touchscreen must be configured for the same zone. See the UNO-TS2 Instruction Manual for details.
Power Supply
Each SA-ZX3 requires its own power supply. The 1201A power supply provides 12VDC 1A to power the SA-ZX3 and attached keypads. The 1201A must be plugged into an AC outlet after installation. When the SA-ZX3 is powered, the red Power LED will be illuminated.
Operation
The SA-ZX3 passes all controller Keypad Port communications to the attached keypads at the SA-ZX3 Keypad Ports. This expands the one controller Keypad Port to allow same room control from up to three keypads. The keypads are operated manually or by using the optional system remote control.

Do not connect the controller's main power feed until all other connections have been made and verified. Live connection or removal of the keypad
wiring or other wiring when the system is powered can cause communication problems in the network. Double-check terminations during each phase of
the installation to prevent accidental damage. Incorrect wiring is the number one cause for non-warranty product damage.
