Read the instructions and keep them safe. Pass them on if you pass the opener on. Remove all packaging, but keep it till you know the opener works.
important safeguards
Follow basic safety precautions, including:
1 The opener must only be used by a responsible adult. Use
2 Don’t put the opener in liquid. Don’t use it in a
bathroom, near a source of water, or outdoors.
3 Keep clear of the cutter and drive gear, they’re sharp.
4 Don’t touch the cut edges of the opened can or lid.
5 Don’t leave the lid attached to the magnet as its
sharp edges could cause injury.
6 Don’t try to open aluminium cans, ring pull cans,
aerosol cans, or other pressurised cans.
7 Don’t try to open cans of flammable materials (paint, etc.).
8 Don’t run the motor for more than 1 minute at a time, it’ll
overheat. After 1 minute, leave it to cool for 15 minutes.
9 Don’t put it on or near a source of heat. 10 Don’t use accessories unless we supply them. 11 Don’t use the opener for any purpose other than those
described in these instructions.
12 Don’t use the opener if it’s damaged or malfunctions.
household use only
before using for the first time
1 Lay the opener on a stable, flat work surface. 2 Put the LV plug into the socket under the opener.

if it’s switchable), and leave it to charge for 16 hours.
4 Route the cable so it doesn’t overhang, and can’t be caught
or tripped over.

fit the handle
5 Hold the handle vertically, with the pivot at the bottom.
6 Put the pivot into it’s hole, and lower the handle towards
the opener.
7 Don’t press it down on the switch, or the motor will start.
opening cans caution Don’t try to open aluminium cans, aerosol cans,
pressurised cans, or cans of flammable materials. 8 Clean the top of the can. 9 Sit the can on a stable, flat work surface.
10 Support the lower part of the can loosely in one hand. 11 Hold the can opener in the other hand. 12 Lift the handle a bit more than 45 degrees – it’ll stay there. 13 Lower the opener till the guide rests on the rim of the can,
and the drive gear is against the side of the can.
14 Lower the handle, to bring the cutter down inside the rim
of the can, then press a bit harder, to pierce the can.
15 Keep pressing, and the handle will push down the switch,
and start the motor.
16 Let the opener turn the can – it’ll need a bit of help on
corners. 17 The magnet will pull itself down against the top of the can. 18 Let go the handle – the opener will keep going. 19 When the opener completes the operation, it should
switch itself off – if it doesn’t, flip the handle up. 20 Lift the handle, to release the can. 21 Lift the opener off the can – the top of the can (which is
now the lid) will stick to the magnet. 22 Hold the magnet and lid over a sink or basin, and pull up
the lid release, to pull the magnet away from the lid. 23 The lid will drop into the basin/sink.

caution take care disposing of the lid, as its edge will
be very sharp.
showing off
24 If the can is round or oval, with no corners, you may let go
of the opener when the motor starts. 25 You must keep hold of the can, or it might topple. 26 The opener will whiz round the top of the can on its own. 27 It’ll even stop when the top is completely severed.
care and maintenance
28 Switch off before cleaning. 29 Lift the handle till it’s vertical, then pull it out of the opener.
caution be wary of the cutter – it’s sharp
30 Wash the handle in warm soapy water. 31 Rinse and dry it thoroughly before refitting. 32 Wipe the opener with a soft, damp cloth, with a little
washing-up liquid, if necessary.
33 Don’t put the opener in water or any other liquid. 34 Don’t put any part of the appliance in a dishwasher. 35 Don’t use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents or solvents. 36 Don’t oil or grease the drive gear or cutting blade.
charging
37 The battery loses its charge slowly when it’s not in use. 38 A charge should last a couple of weeks in “average” use. 39 We recommend recharging after 20 cans, or after two
weeks, whichever comes first. 40 Recharge for at least 12 hours – overnight is usually easiest. 41 Don’t leave the adapter permanently connected – you’ll
reduce the battery life. 42 The adapter gets a bit hot – don’t worry about it. 43 Use the opener only with the adapter supplied, and vice
versa.

battery disposal
Sadly, nothing lasts forever, and the day will come when your opener comes to the end of its natural life. When this happens, don’t put the dead opener out with your normal household rubbish. It contains a nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery, which must be removed from the product, and recycled, or disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.
Your local authority will have arrangements for recycling or
disposing of the battery.
To remove the battery:
a) remove the screws buried in the screw holes on either
side of the appliance b) pull the body apart c) pull the connectors off the battery terminals. d) dispose of the battery and appliance separately e) don’t put either in your wheelie bin.
wheelie bin symbol
To avoid environmental and health problems due
to hazardous substances in electrical and electronic goods, appliances marked with this symbol mustn’t be disposed of with unsorted municipal waste, but recovered, reused, or recycled.
