BATTERY INSTALLATION AND REPLACEMENT:
2 CR2025 batteries are included with each ZWL-APS. Lift the battery latch with a screwdriver to open the battery cover. Remove the plastic strips from under the batteries. Observe polarity when installing the batteries. Be careful to insert the batteries under the 4 small plastic tabs in the battery compartment. Re-latch the battery cover. After the batteries are successfully installed, the LED on the ZWL-APS will blink for one minute to indicate the device in not included in the RF network. The device will go to sleep after one minute to conserve battery life. When not installed, pressing the ON/OFF button again will wake up the device, and the LED will resume blinking for one minute to remind the installer that the device is still not installed in the RF network. With normal usage (up to 20 keypresses per day) battery life is expected to be 1-2 years.
PHYSICAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Attach the ZWL-APS to any flat surface using the double-sided tape provided, or mount it to the wall using the screws and anchors provided. NOTE: Do not install an ZWL-APS over an electrical box. The device must be installed onto a flat surface. Do not install on a metal surface since this will impede the RF signal.
Z-WAVE NETWORK INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
The ZWL-APS can be used as an accessory device which can be included in a new or existing network by using your Z-Wave controller. To include as an accessory device, select the command on your controller for inclusion (Install, Add Device, Add Node, Include Device, etc.), then press the Battery Operated Switch on/off button one time to include it in the network. The LED will blink a few times and then stop blinking after the device is successfully included
in the network. After inclusion in

a network, the Battery Operated Switch can then be associated with and control up to 5 other hard-wired RF devices at one time. During the association process, your Z-Wave controller may prompt you to wake up the Battery Operated Switch, which will then allow the association process to occur. To wake the Battery Operated Switch press the dim down or up button once. (For detailed instructions refer to your controller manual.) To exclude this device from a Z-Wave network, select
your Z-Wave
controller for exclusion (Uninstall, Remove Device, Remove Node, Exclude Device, etc.), then press the on/off button one time to exclude it from the network. The LED will start blinking rapidly and then blink slowly about 10 times.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
• The blue LED indicator is normally OFF.
• The blue LED indicator will blink once when turning a device OFF.
• The blue LED indicator will come on for 2 seconds and then turn OFF when turning a device ON.
• The ON/OFF switch on the ZWL-APS will turn the load ON/OFF when associated with Z-Wave RF switches.
• The ON/OFF switch on the ZWL-APS will turn a receptacle ON/OFF when associated with Z-Wave RF receptacles.
• The ON/OFF switch on the ZWL-APS will turn the light ON/OFF when associated with a Z-Wave RF Master Dimmer.
• The UP/DOWN dimmer buttons will control the light level when associated with a Z-Wave RF Master Dimmer.
BUTTON FUNCTIONS REFERENCE FOR THE ZWL-APS:
On/Off - Press the On/Off button once. The installed devices will turn on or off depending on their previous state. If no devices are installed in the network, the LED will blink rapidly for about 3 seconds. This will also happen if the ZWL-APS cannot reach the devices for any reason. Possible reasons might be the devices are not powered, perhaps due to a tripped circuit breaker, or if the ZWL-APS cannot reach the devices due to poor RF conditions such as low signal strength. Dimming - Pressing and holding the dimming button will cause installed dimmer devices to raise or lower the dimming level. Releasing the button will stop this action.
