Talk 2 is a small compact unit that will easily fit into the breast
pocket of your shirt and provide long-range battery feeding and
ringer generation. Using Talk2, you can communicate on dead
cables and talk to the customers when there is a cable
breakdown.
Battery installation
First install 6 x AA alkaline cells. (We recommend the use of
RS Alkaline AA cells RS stock no. 591-225). These are loaded
into a special magazine located under the pop-off cover.
Ensure that the cells are loaded with the correct polarity and
the battery holder is inserted to align with the contacts inside
the unit. If the batteries begin to fail, the red 'on' indicator LED
will flash rapidly. Approximately two hours operation is possible
after activation.
Connections
Connect to line using the combination connectors. When one
end wants to call, the TALK2 at the originating end should be
switched on and the RING key should be pressed. The ringing
signal will pass straight through the other TALK2 to the distant
telephone. Switch off at the end of the call to conserve the
battery.
Controls
TALK2 has two controls - ON/OFF and RING. The ON/OFF
switch is located on the top panel and is marked I and O. The
RING switch is located on the front panel.
One-way calling
To provide talk battery and make a one-way call, one TALK2 is
required. When you want to make a call, switch on and then
press RING momentarily to alert the other end.
The green Off-Hook LED will light when the other end answers
and the speech-path is established. Switch off at the end of the
call to conserve the battery.

Two-way calling
This is similar to one-way except that a TALK2 is used at both
ends. A TALK2 should be connected at each end and both
should be switched-off. When either end wants to call, the
TALK2 at the originating end should be switched on and the
RING key should be pressed. The ringing signal will pass
straight through the other TALK2 to the distant telephone.
Switch off at the end of the call to conserve the battery.
