SITTING POSTURE
Correc t sitting posture is a pre-requisite for stable
and safe riding :
Sit Straight with your sh oulders completely
relaxe d.
Keep you r elbo ws close to your body.
Keep y our toes in straight ahe ad d irection.
Sligh tly press the knee pad of petrol tank with
the knees.
Hold the handle grip clos e to its inner end.
Look extensively, including rear view mirror,
without turning the head.
BRAK ING
Us e both front and rear brakes together for
maximum braking efficiency.
WARNING
Applying an y on e of the brakes sudde nly may
cause the vehicle to skid.
The hydraulic disc brake, fitted on your Classic
350 requires ver y less effort and high effort or
sudden application may lock the wheel. Please use
utmost ca ution while applying the hydraulic disc
brake .

The Classic 350, as you would be experiencing,
is capable of c onsistent high speeds. However
as wi th any new motorc yc le, a “r un nin g-in
procedure” is essential during the first 2000 kms
to achieve optimum performance subsquently.
The following tips will help in proper bedding
of a new motorcycle.

Select a firm, flat surface.
Extend sid e s tand. Tilt th e mo torcycle to
the left, till it is s upported firmly.

Apply pressure on the fulcrum lever on the
center stand and pull vehicle backward.
WARNING
Ensure both the stands are retracted fully b efore

Lubricate after using the motorcycle in rain, after
waterwash or if use d in dusty conditions.

Check if oil is below ‘min’ level. To top up, remove
cover and diaphragm and top up with DOT 3 or
DOT 4 as specified.
Place motorcy cle on its center stand on a firm
surface.
Warm up engine for a few minutes & switch
off before checkin g oil level.

middle of the oil level window.

clean the magnet.

Cleaning and adjusting Plug gap
In spect the tyres pe rio dic ally for
tread wear, cracks and cuts.
Check and remove stone, s plinters,
nails or other particles embed ded in
the tyre treads.
Bald spots / swelling may be caused by internal
damage. Replace the tyres , if defective.
Replace tyres when the tread depth has reached
the minimum as specified.

Check proper seating of the tyre beading on
the ri m when ever the tyre is reassembled.
Whenever a new tyre is in stalled, e nsure rim
and spokes do not get damaged on account of
using wrong levers.

Disconnect spee do cable.
Loosen the pinch bolt on the RH fork guide.

Place a 4 mm thick wooden piece or cardboard
sheet between the brak e shoes to avoid brake
shoes getting locked.
CAUTION :
Do not press the front brake lever when wheel is
removed as this will result in brake shoes getting
locked.
FRONT WHEEL REASSEMBLY
Remove the wooden piece / card bo ard sheet
placed between the brake shoe s.
Place the speedo drive bush in p osition and
place speedo drive ove r it.
Inser t the whee l along with spee do drive and
RH sp a c er be t wee n the fr o n t fo r k ends
ensuring that the brake disc is located between
the brake shoe s.
Ins er t and tap the front wh eel axle ge ntly
inside .
Re fit the wa sher and tighten the nut fir mly.
NOTE :
Ensure that the speedo drive is correctly located
such that the cab le ca n be conn ected w ith out
difficulty.
Tighten the pinch bolt on the RH fork guide.

REASSEMBLY OF BATTERY ON VEHICLE
Position the battery in the battery carrier such
that the negative termina l of the battery i s
towards fuel tap.
Connect the positive terminal (Red wire ).
Connect the negative terminal (Black wire).
Smear the terminals with p etroleum jelly. (Do
not use grease ).
Refit the bracke t to h old the ba ttery.
Refit battery carrier cover and lock the same.
CAUTION :
Do not use battery with low electrolyte level
as the battery inte rnals will get damaged.
Do not overfill the battery electrolyte as it will
spill ot thr ough the over flow pipe and cause
corrosion to vehicle p arts.

batteries to avoid damage to battery.
Clean the wire terminals free of corrosion and
keep the terminals coated with petroleum jelly.

CAUTION :
Never touch the bul b with y our finger. Finger
prints will etch the glass and decrease b ulb life.

Rinse vehicle thoro ughly with plain water to
remove the detergent and wipe vehicle dr y.
If p ossible, use compressed air and blow off
water particles from the obscure areas of the
vehicle, electrical connections, etc.
After washing

Remove all plastic b ags and adhesive tapes.
Lubricate control cables, pivot and rear chain
with lube oil
Polish the painted and plated surfaces using
polishing wax.
Start engine and allow to run at idling spee d
for a few minutes to warm up engine.
Drive the mo torcycle slowly, apply ing both
brake s inter mit ten tly to d ry u p the brake
shoes.
Test brakes for full efficiency.
PRECAUTIONS

Cover the silencer, tail pipe, ca rburettor and
control s witches with suitable plastic bags and
tie it firmly to prevent water entry to the m.
Re move ignition key and seal key hole using
adhesive tape.
Brush engine area with ke rose ne / diesel to
remove dirt or grease.
Use low pres sure jet of water to clean t he
vehicle or engine.
Never spray water with great force on head
lamp, speedometer, flasher lights, front and
rear wheel hubs, electrica l co nnec tions an d
wires, control cables, carburetor, sparkplug,
battery etc.
Do no t apply kerose ne or die sel on painted
parts or rubber parts.
Us e luke war m water an d mild detergent on
the painted components to remove dirt, etc.

Incase you r Motorcy cle is not going to be used
for a mo nth or more, we advice the following
precau tions to the taken.
Carryout req uired repair / adjustments on the
motorcycle.

Dr ain fuel tank, fuel line and carbu retor.
Keep the fuel tap in closed po sition and spray
mo tor oil i ns ide t he fuel tan k to pre ven t
rusting.
Remove s park plug. Pour in abo ut 3 0ml of
cle an en gin e oil t hro ug h spar k plug hole .
Close the hole and crank e ngine several times
and refit spark plug.
Clean rear chain thorough ly and apply a thin
film of lub oil >90 grade.

terminals free of corrosion.
Maintain electrolyte level between max. or min.
mark, by adding distilled water and wipe the
battery dr y.

Preparing the motorcycle for reuse
Re move the a nti-rust solution fro m all plated
parts and clean the motorcycle well.
Inflate the tyres to the cor rect tyre pressure.
Ensure battery is fully charge d and pr oper

Connect the battery.
Lubricate all control cables and pivots.
Check proper level of oil in engin e.
Clean and remove the motor oil from tank and
fill tank with fresh petrol.
Clean carburettor and air filter.
Re move plastic cove ring from the silence r.
Re move spark plug on cylinder head and pour
in a few drops of engine oil. Crank engine a
few times to lubricat e cy lin der w all s and
piston. Clean spark plug a nd refit.
Switch on ignition s witch.
Star t vehicle and warm up engine for a few
minutes before riding the vehicle.
NOTE :
Do not raise the e ngine rpm the m ome nt it is
started, allow the engine to run at idling speed.

Royal Enfield Motor Cycles are manu factured by following best Quality pr actices in respec t of the
material and workmanship.
Royal Enfield (RE) warrants Classic 350 motorcycle to be fre e from manufacturing and material defect
under normal use subject to following conditions.
1. RE will replace or repair defective part / parts at their Author ised Dealer / Service Po int, free of
charge within a period of 12 months from the date of sale (date of Installation) or 10,000 k ms
whichever occurs earlier.
2. The warranty is applicable only to first registered owner.
3. The warranty shall be applicable only i f a ll the free services are av ailed at the respective per iod /
kilometer range a s per the sche dule given in the owner’s manual from RE Authorised Dealer /
Service Point.
4. During the warranty period, RE’s obligations shall be limited to repa iring / replacing free of charge
such part or parts of the vehicle, which on examination to have manufactur ing defect. Such defective
part / parts which have been r eplaced become proper ty of RE.
5. Cost of oil, oil filter, fuel and other consumables are c hargeab le to the cus tomer.
6. Claims on proprietary item s like tyres, tubes , spa rk plug, ba ttery etc. shou ld be taken up with
respec tive ma nufacturer or the ir auth orised agents in the area dire ctly by customer. RE shall not
be liable in any ma nner to re place them though their Dea lers will provide as sistance in p referring
such claims on their manufacturer.
7. Warran ty shall not apply to:
(a) Norma l ag eing, detoriation or rusting of plated parts paints coat, rubber parts, soft items ,
glass items, pla stic parts etc.

(b) Components like fuel filter, oil filter pap er element, control cables, brake shoes / brake pads,
clutch plates, drive chain & sprocket kit, which are subjected to normal wear and tear.

(d) Da mages due to use of non-ge nuine parts.
(e) Damag es due to lack of proper maintena nce of the vehicle.
(f) Damages d ue to incorrect driving or riding habits.
(g) Parts dam aged due to ac cidents, collision, abuse etc.
(h) Irregu larities not reco gnized as affecting the quality or function of the vehicle such as slight
vibration , oil leakage, discoloration of exhaus t bent pipe / silencer / soft, hard sh ock absorber
etc.
(i) Defects arising from fitment of unauthorised / additional Electrical load s.
(j) Vehicle s erviced / repaired at unauthorised ser vice points.
(k) Vehicle used for competition / racing.
(l) Electrical comp onent likes bulbs, fuses etc.
(m) Normal maintenance operations like adjustment of brakes, cleaning fuel system, engine tune
up and other such adjustments
8. RE reserves the right to finally decide on all warran ty claims
9. RE reserves the right to make changes in De sign of the v ehicle without any obligation to install
these changes on previo usly su pplied vehicles.

In c ompliance with the pro visio ns of Rule 115(2) of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1 989, Royal
Enfield ce rtifies that the followin g warranty is applicable to those compone nts liable to affec t th e
emission of the gaseou s pollutants in its ran ge o f motorcycles, in nor mal use to which it may be
subjected to.
This emission warranty comes into force from 01 st July 2001 and is valid for a period of 30 ,000 Kms.
or 36 months, whichever occurs earlier, from the date of sale to the first customer and is in ad dition to
and parallel to the war ranty policy, con ditions and obligations laid down in the Owner’s Manual.
Royal Enfield further warranty tha t if on examination by its Autho rised Dealer / Service Point, the
motorcycle fail to mee t the s pecified emission standards, then the Autho rised Dealer / Service Point
shall tak e ne cessary correc tive measures and shall at its sole discretion, repair or replace fre e o f
charge such components of the emission control system to me et the req uired emission s tandards.
The method/s of examination to deter mine the warr anty c onditions of the emission warr anty related
components will be at the sole discretion of Royal Enfield and / or our Authorised Dealer / Service Point
and results of such examination will be final and binding. If on examination the warranty c onditions
of the part/s is/are not established. R oyal enfield will have the righ t to charge a ll, or part of the c ost of
such examination to the customer in addition to the cost of the components.
In case of acceptance of the component/s under Emission warranty, Royal Enfield will replac e free of
char ge, the componen t/s as re quire d. However , the consumab les like fuel, lubricants, s olvents, etc
shall be chargeable to the custo mer as per actuals.
In c ase any of the compon ents covere d under emission w arra nty or the as sociated parts, are n ot

independently replaceable. Royal Enfield will have the sole discretion to replace either the entire assembly
or parts of the assembly, through suitable repairs.
Royal Enfield re serv es the right to carry ou t necessary co nsequential repairs to the motorcy cle or
replace any part, in addition to the repair or replacement o f the compone nts covered under em ission
warranty, to establish co mpliance to in-use emission standards. S uch repairs / replacements will be
chargeable to the customer.
All parts removed for replacement under wa rranty will become the prop erty of Ro yal Enfield.
Royal Enfield will not be respo nsible for the cos t of transportation of the motorcycle to the nearest
Authorise d Dealer / Service P oint OR for any loss due to non availability of the motorcycle during the
period of examination and repairs b y Royal Enfield and / or their Au thorised Dealer / Service Poin t.
Royal Enfield will not be res ponsible for any penalties that may be charged by statuatory authorities
on accoun t of failure to comp ly with the in-use emission standard s.
That cost/s incurred to check emission of the motorcycle will have to be borne by the cus tomer.
Emission warranty will be applica ble irrespective of the change of ownership of the vehicle provided all
the co nditions as laid down in this doc ument are met from the date of original sale of the motorcycle.

Regularly obtains and carries out maintenan ce in accordance with Royal Enfield guidelines and
enters the details in the Log book.
Immediately approaches the neare st Authorised Dealer / Se rvice Point upon discove ry of failure to
comply with the IN-USE emission standard inspite of having maintained and used the vehicle in
accordance with the instructions in the owner ’s manual and having carried out such repairs and
adjustmen ts as may be required with a v iew to establish such compliance.
Produces the ‘Pollution Under Control ’ certificate valid for the period immediately prec eding the
test d uring which the failure is discovered, the test having been carr ied out either for obtaining a
new certificate or purs uant upon being directed by an office r as re ferred to in sub rule (2) of rule
116 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR).
Produces the owner’s manua l an d Log book for ve rification de tails.
Produces receipts covering maintenance of the motorcycle is spe cified in the owner’s manual from

On examin ation by Royal Enfield or its Authorised Dealer / Service Point, if the motorcycle shows
that any of the con ditions stipu lated in the Owner’s manual with regard to use and ma intenance
have been violate d.
The motorcycle has bee n run on adulterated / leaded fuel or lubricant other than those specified by
Royal Enfield in the Owner’s manual or any other docume nt g iven to the customer at the time of
sale of the motorcycle.

is not produced.
All maintenance activities carried out on the vehicle during the tenure o f the emission warranty is
not entered in the log book.
Tips to be on the right side of Law
Always get your vehicle checked to meet the emission regulations through and authorised emission
checking center.
Always ca rry a v alid ‘Pollution Unde r Control’ certificate with you at all times during the validity
of the emission warranty (30,000 Kms / 3 ye ars from the date of first sale)
Tips to reduce pollution
1. Ensure that the periodical maintenance is carried out as stipulated in the owner’s manual through
a Roy al Enfield Authorise d Dealer / Service Point.
2. Use only Unleaded petrol (> 87 Octane) from reputed fuel pump s.
3. Ensur e the fuel used is not adulterated.
4. Use corre ct spark plug as reco mmended in the ow ner’s manual.
5. Use lubricants a s per r ecommen dations given on grade / brand in the owner’s manua l.
