Installation Instructions Maximum Heat Detector

1. Introduction

The AS-36 maximum h eat detector sounds an al arm
whenever the unit temperature reaches 55±2ºC. The
unit is supplementary to smoke detectors and should be
placed only in areas wher e smoke detectors cannot be
used. AS-36 is operated by a single 9V battery, which
can sustain the unit’s operation for up to 1 year.

AS-36 has an 85-decibel horn, test button , and an alarm
LED indicator. The AS-36 heat detector is ideal for
kitchens, garages, cellars, boiler rooms, attics and other
areas where there are normally high levels of fumes,
smoke or dust which preclude the use of smoke
detectors due to the risk of false alarms.

The detector can connect to Rosslare's security system
panel, or to any standard wireless security system. To
connect the AS-36 Maximum heat detector to a wired
or wireless system, mount it on Rosslare's SA-13G
(wireless; 433.92MHz), SA-13H (wireless, 868.35MHz), or
SA-13W (wired) base.

NOTE: A fully mounted unit (AS-36 + SA-13G/H/W)
is referred to as SA-36G/H (wireless) or SA-36W
(wired).

NOTE:

The AS-36 maximum heat detector is not
designed to serve as a substitute for a primary fire
detection system.

3. Installation

The SA-36 is a heat detector; it can be operated as a
standalone unit or as an alarm system together with the
SA-13 wireless or wired base.

3.1 Wiring the SA-36W

For wiring instillations follow the instructions below.

To set and wire the SA-36W:

1. set the alarm output setting to either Normally
Open or Normally Closed using the select switch on
the SA-13W.

2. Connect the power between the Security Alarm
system and the SA-13W’s Vin and ground terminal
blocks.

3. Connect the Tamper outputs to the Security Alarm
system’s inputs

4. Connect the Alarm terminal blocks to the Security
Alarm system, refe r to the installation manual of the
alarm system you are connecting the detec to r to.

3.2 Mounting the Detector

Before mounting the AS-36 Heat Detector, make sure that
your chosen mounting area is not in fro nt of any electrical
wiring or pipe work.

To mount the unit:

1. Mark two mounting points in the wall according to
the base size and holes.

2. Drill into the marke d p o ints and insert wall plugs.

3. Using screws, mount the base onto the wall.

4. Mount the AS-36 unit on the base (see Figure 3).

Note: Be careful not to over-tighten the screws.

4. Operating the Heat Detector

Do not paint or cover the detector.

4.1 General Use

During normal operation, the heat detector's LED indicator
should flash once per 40 seconds.

When the unit detects heat (the temperatu re reaches
55±2ºC or more), it triggers its built-in sire n . I f the detector is
connected to a wireless or wired security network, it sends an
alert message to the host security pan el.

4.2 Testing the Detector

To test the heat de tector, press and hold the se lf-test button.
A loud pulsating siren sounds and the LED indicator flashes

quickly, wh ile a signal is emitted to the host control panel (if
part of a system).

4.3 Low battery

When the detector' s battery is low, the detector beeps once
per 40 seconds. The heat detector continues oper ating with
a low battery for at least 7 days.

LIMITED WARRANTY IS APPLICABLE WORLDWIDE. THIS WARRANTY

SUPERSEDES ANY OTHER WARRANTY. ROSSLARE'S TWO YEAR LIMITED

WARRANTY IS SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:

ARRANTY OF ROSSLARE'S PRODUCTS EXTENDS TO T HE ORIGINAL
PURCHASER (CUSTOMER) OF THE ROSSLARE PRODUCT AND IS NOT
TRANSFERABLE.

Warranty

ROSSLARE ENTERPRISES LTD. AND / ORSUBSIDIARIES
(ROSSLARE) WARRANTS THAT THE AS-36 HEAT DETECTOR, TO BE FREE

FROM DEFECTS IN MATERIALS AND ASSEMBLY IN THE COURSE OF NORMAL U SE
AND SERVICE. THE WARRANTY PERIOD COMMENCES WITH THE DATE OF
SHIPMENT TO THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER AND EXTENDS FOR A PERIOD OF 2
YEARS (24 MONTHS).

Products Covered By This Warranty and Duration

IN THE EVENT OF A BREACH OF WARRANTY, ROSSLARE WILL CREDIT
CUSTOMER WITH THE PRICE OF THE PRODUCT PAID BY CUSTOMER, PROVIDED

THAT THE WARRANTY CLAIM IS DELIVERED TO ROSSLARE BY THE CUSTOMER
DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TERMS OF THIS
WARRANTY. UNLESS OTHERWI SE REQUESTED BY ROSSLARE

ENTERPRISES LTD. AND / OR SUBSIDIARIES REPRESENTATIVE, RETURN

OF THE FAILED PRODUCT(S) IS NOT IMMEDIATELY REQUIRED.

Warranty Remedy Coverage

IF ROSSLARE HAS NOT CONTACTED THE CUSTOMER WITHIN A SIXTY (60) DAY

HOLDING PERIOD FOLLOWING THE DELIVERY OF THE WARRANTY CLAIM,

CUSTOMER WILL NOT BE REQUIRED TO RETURN THE FAILED PRODUCT(S). ALL

RETURNED PRODUCT(S), AS MAY BE REQUESTED AT ROSSLARE

ENTERPRISES LTD. AND /OR SUBSIDIARY’S SOLE DISCRETION, SHALL

Exclusions and Limitations

THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER EXPENSES INCURRED IN THE

TRANSPORTATION, FREIGHT COST TO THE REPAIR CENTER, REMOVAL OR
REINSTALLATION OF THE PRODUCT, WHETHER OR NOT PROVEN DEFECTIVE.

FROM CUSTOMER'S IMPROPER TESTING, OPERATION, INSTALLATION, OR
DAMAGE RESULTING FROM USE OF THE PRODUCT IN OTHER THAN ITS NORMAL
AND CUSTOMARY MANNER, OR ANY MAINTENANCE, MODIFICATION, ALTERATION,

IMPROPER OPERATION, NORMAL WEAR, DEFECTS O R DAMAGE DUE TO
LIGHTNING OR OTHER ELECTRICAL DISCHARGE. THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT
COVER REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT WHERE NORMAL USE HAS EXHAUSTED THE
LIFE OF A PART OR INSTRUMENT, OR ANY MODIFICATION OR ABUSE OF, OR
TAMPERING WITH, THE PRODUCT IF PRODUCT DISASSEMBLED OR REPAIRED IN
SUCH A MANNER AS TO ADVERSELY AFFECT PERFORMANCE OR PREVENT
ADEQUATE INSPECTION AND TESTING TO VERIFY ANY WARRANTY CLAIM.

DOES NOT WARRANT THE INSTALLATION, MAINTENANCE, OR

SERVICE OF THE PRODUCT. SERVICE L IFE OF THE PRODUCT IS DEPENDENT
UPON THE CARE IT RECEIVES AND THE CO NDITIONS UNDER WHICH IT HAS TO
OPERATE.

N NO EVENT SHALL ROSSLARE BE LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL

DAMAGES.

THIS WARRANTY SETS FO RTH THE FULL EXTENT OF ROSSLARE ENTERPRI SES
LTD. AND ITS SUBSIDIARIES WARRANTY.

Limited Warranty Terms

OR NOT PURPORTING TO REPRESENT OR ACT ON BEHALF OF ROSSLARE.

OTHER WARRANTIES EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION,
IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR
PURPOSE, ARE SPECIFIC ALLY EXCLUDED.

PROFITS, ARISING OUT OF THE INSTALLATION, USE, OR INABILITY TO USE SUCH
PRODUCT, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THAT ANY SUCH LOSS OR DAMAGE MAY BE
