Instruction for Use for Dispenser 104 for Neo-Sensitabs
Principles
The Neo-Sensitabs cartridges with spring match the dimension of the top-plate holes. Each cartridge accommodates 50 Neo-Sensitabs.
Pressure applied to the top section will make the bottom plate move sideways thus releasing one tablet from each cartridge. The holes in the bottom plate ensure that the tablets are placed onto the agar surface in a pre-determined pattern.
When using several dispensers, the colour codes can be used on the top of the handles.
Intended use
To be used for dispensing Neo-Sensitabs on agar plates for in vitro diagnostic use.
Intended users
Only to be used by professionals and people trained to work with microbes and susceptibility testing.

Materials provided
A dispenser as labelled on the container.
Materials required but not provided
Neo-Sensitabs in cartridges with spring and other materials necessary to perform an agar diffusion test.
Components
The Dispensers 101, 102, 103 and 104 for Neo-Sensitabs consist of a top section with a handle made of ABS (Acrylnitrile-Butadiene-Styrene) and a top lid of SP (Styrene butadiene). One fixed, one moving part, two slides/turning plates, all made of ABS and kept together with a nylon screw. Colour piece under lid of PP (polypropylene), springs in stainless steel and rubber “feet” made of SEBS (Styrene ethylene butylene styrene).
Models
7 holes: A dispenser adaptable to
8-10 cm petri dishes delivering up to 7 Neo-Sensitabs at a time (Dispenser 101). 9 holes: A dispenser adaptable to 10 cm petri dishes delivering up to 9 Neo-Sensitabs at a time (Dispenser 102). 12 holes: A dispenser for 14-15 cm petri dishes delivering up to 12 Neo-Sensitabs at a time (Dispenser 103). 16 holes: A dispenser for square 12 x 12 cm petri dishes, delivering up to 16 Neo-Sensitabs at a time (Dispenser 104).
Precautions
Only to be used in combination with Neo-Sensitabs. The dispenser must not be autoclaved or exposed to ultraviolet light or radiation. Only to be used with Neo-Sensitabs cartridges with spring.
Procedure
1. Remove the lids from the Neo-Sensitabs cartridges
2. Carefully insert the cartridges one by one through the top-plate holes and make sure that the ridge on the cartridge matches the groove on the dispenser. Avoid twisting the cartridge while pushing it through to the bottom.
3. When the cartridges have been inserted properly, place the Neo-Sensitabs dispenser above the Petri dish.
4. Dispense the tablets by pushing the handle down.
5. When pressing down the handle the tablets will be released and transferred to the agar surface. If the dispenser is operated too slowly, the tablets may tend to stand on edge and perhaps tumble. This is practically eliminated when the pressure is applied briskly.
6. Repeat this operation until the cartridges are empty. Discard the empty cartridges and replace them by full ones.
Storage
No particular storage requirements.
Cleaning
The dispenser is easy to disassemble or inside cleaning. Turn over the dispenser and remove the plastic screw at the centre of the dispenser. Observe that the four springs are intact and are placed correctly. Clean the dispenser occasionally to remove dust from the Neo-Sensitabs tablets. Wipe with ethanol and hot water.
Disposal
Clean the damaged or used dispensers with ethanol and hot water before disposing of them according to local regulations.
