VERY IMPORTANT NOTES:
-Occasionally with certain confi gurations, you may experience exces- sive hum or buzz. In this case, try connecting the Ground connection from your turntable directly to your receiver/amplifi er, thus bypassing the VP130.
-If you connect the output of the VP130, either the RCA or headphone outs, without connecting a turntable to the input - you will experience noise. The combination of the VP130 and the turntable (with its RIAA equalization curve) - complete a crucial circuit for proper operation.

FAQ :
Q:The VP130 has no power switch should I leave it on all the time or only
turn it on when needed?
A: Always turn the unit off when you are not using it. This will help keep
your VP130 sounding like new for a longer time, and saves electricity. We recommend connecting your setup to a outlet strip so you can turn on all your phonograph equipment at once.
Q:What is a N.O.S. tube?
A: N.O.S. refers to (new old stock) it is a tube that was manufactured
long ago and never used. These tubes are very sought after. They may or may not sound any better, but it is generally thought that most N.O.S. tubes are better in many ways over new foreign manufactured tubes.
Q: What kind of tubes can I use in the VP130?
A: Tubes that can be used in the VP130 are:
12AX7 - The industry standard for preamp tubes. 12AX7A - Same as a 12AX7 but generally has a slightly higher output. 7025 - This is the Military part number for a 12AX7. ECC83 - This is the same as a 12AX7 it is the European part number. 12AX7WA - This is a 12AX7 with slightly lower output. 5751 - This is a Military part number for a 12AX7WA. There are many other tubes that can be used, but you get where this is going they are essentially the same tube with different part numbers doing almost exactly the same thing.
Q: What is the best sounding tube I can get for the VP130?
A: This is an unanswerable question. Everyone has different tastes. It
is up to the individual to decide as all tubes sound slightly different. For me the best tube I have ever heard in a VP130 was a N.O.S. Telefunken tube.
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for your purchase of the Bellari VP130 Tube Phono Preamp. The VP130 is designed to amplify an RIAA equalized phono signal to a Hi-Fi level signal, and is intended for magnetic pickups. Since the unit utilizes tube circuitry, the resulting output signal is more warm and musical than solid state preamplifi ers.
INSPECTION
1. Unpack and Inspect the VP130 package Your VP130 was carefully packed at the factory in a protective carton. Nonetheless, be sure to examine the unit and the carton for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping. If obvious physical damage is noticed, contact the carrier immediately to make a damage claim. We suggest saving the shipping carton and packing materials for safely transporting the unit in the future.
2. We recommend registering on-line at www.rolls.com.
DESCRIPTION
GROUND CONNECTOR: Connects to the Ground of the phonograph. INPUT: Stereo RCA jacks for connection to the phonograph. OUTPUT: Stereo RCA jacks for connection to a stereo system or amplifi er. STEREO HEADPHONE/LINE OUTPUT: 1/4" Tip-Ring-Sleeve jack for connection to any standard pair of headphones or earphones. PWR INPUT: 12-15 VDC 300-1000mA. RUMBLE FILTER: High pass fi lter - eliminates frequencies under 20Hz. MUTE: When pressed in - mutes the RCA outputs. The Headphone Output will still have signal present. OUTPUT LEVEL: Adjusts the amount of signal to the RCA Outputs. HEADPHONE LEVEL: Adjusts the amount of signal to the Headphone/Line Output.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTES:
First of all - turntables and tube equipment have a certain level of noise. That's why the two technologies are essentially obsolete. The VP130 is intended for use with Moving Magnet cartridges, not Moving Coil. While a Moving Coil cartridge will work, you will be required to turn up the volume of the unit as well as your receiver/amplifi er causing an increase in noise.

CONNECTION/OPERATION
-Connect your turntable to the VP130 as shown.
-The Outputs may be connected to an amplifi er or recording device such as; a cassette recorder, computer sound-card input, Headphone amp, ect. Only use a Tip-Ring-Sleeve stereo plug in the Headphone Output. CONNECTING A MONO PLUG IN THIS JACK WILL RESULT IN PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE VP130.
-Connect the AC adaptor to the unit and an AC outlet or power strip.
-Play a record on the turntable and adjust the Output Level and Headphone Level controls to the desired amounts.
-Switch in the Rumble Filter to eliminate very low frequencies if needed.
-Press in the Mute switch when you wish to mute the RCA outputs of the VP130 (the Headphone Output will still be active).

FAQ :
Q: Does the tube need time to warm up before use?
A: Yes, it will be usable in about 30 seconds. Longer warm up times are
not needed, there is no benefi t to warming the tube up longer than 60 seconds. (warm up) simply means plugging in the power supply.
Q: What is the life expectancy of the vacuum tube in the VP130?
A: 10 to 50 years (or longer if you do not use the unit very often) if you
use it more often it will have a shorter life, like a light bulb. 10 years if you have the unit on 24/7 every day all the time. 15 years if you use the unit once a day. 25 years if you use the unit a couple times a week. More than 40 years if you use the unit a few times a month.
