OWNERS MANUAL
Introduction
Microphone Phantom P ower
The MIX MAX 7 is designed to be used as a middle component of a sound
system. Such a system might be comprised of sound sources such as microphones , tape deck, tuner or CD player, preamplifier (such as the RM5C), power
amplifier (such as the ROLLS RA2110) and speaker system.
Features
¨ Three XLR balanced Mic inputs with phantom power.
¨ Bass and treble tone controls.
¨ Stereo effects loop on Mics for sound effects
¨ FX loop may also be used as fourth source input.
¨ 3 Stereo source inputs for tape play er, compact disk, radio, etc..
¨ Master level out f or o v erall v olume adjustment.
¨ RCA and 1/4" stereo outputs for amp, tape , monitors , etc..
¨ Professional design for hard use and/or permanent installations.
¨ Three y ear limited warr anty
Applications
The ROLLS MIX MAX 7 is intended for mixing up to three microphones with up to
three stereo source signals as in aerobics studios, Karoake lounges, or audio
visual applications. Its v ersatile inputs and outputs as well as commercial gr ade
design make it an important problem solver in many audio situations. The FX loop
may also be used as a fourth source input, but this may disable the Mics unless
the unit is modified.
Front panel controls
Mic 1 - 3, These are the channel v olume controls and adjust the v olume sent to
the tone controls and FX send
SOURCE 1-3 are the level controls f or the RCA source inputs on the rear.
FX IN OUT switch is for engaging the e xternal sound effects in the FX loop .
FX LEVEL sets the level of the FX return jack inputs on the rear.
BASS - controls the boost or cut of frequencies below 400 Hz.
TREBLE - controls the boost or cut of frequencies above 400 Hz .
MASTER VOLUME f or adjusting the main stereo output level for the unit.
Rear Panel Jacks
MIC 1 - 3 - are the inputs for dynamic or phantom power microphones
PHANTOM POWER - are the jumpers for turning on the microphone power for the
XLR inputs, and are numbered for the channel the y are assigned to .
FX SEND - is the output to external effects units.
FX RETURN R & L - Are the inputs from the external sound effects units, EQ,
Etc.
SOURCE 1 - 3 are the inputs from tuner, tape , CD player, Etc.
LEFT & RIGHT OUT are the main outputs to the power amp, EQ, Etc.
Phantom power is a means of powering condenser microphones through the
microphone cable. The RM5C has individually switchable phantom po wer f or each
of it’s 3 Mic channels through the XLR connectors. Phantom power is turned on
and off by using the shorting clips on the header pin strip on the rear of the unit.
To enable phantom power connect shorting jumper across pins 1 & 2 for Mic 3,
pins 3 & 4 for Mic 2 and pins 5 & 6 for Mic 1. To turn off the phantom power simply
insert the jumper so it is verticle on only one pin, this will store the jumper and
disconnect phantom power . If phantom power is not needed it should be switched
off to avoid damage or degraded sound quality.
Installation
The MIX MAX 7 will mount in a single space of a standard 19" relay rack or an y
suitable location. It requires no special ventilation b ut should be properly grounded
and kept dry for safety reasons. The RM5C has plenty of level to drive most any
power amplifier , the 1/4" and RCA output jac ks are par allelled, if both are used the
units they are driving will have to match the same le v el.
