RECALL Mode is for calling up stored presets. The knobs and sliders are inactive. STOREPuts information to the memory of the MP45 and is only active in the learn mode UP / DOWN Switches are for cycling through the presets - not active in the PLAY mode
The MP45 has three modes of operation LEARN, PLAY and RECALL shown by an LED next to the label.
* The LEARN mode is for stor ing preset information in memory. Set the knobs and buttons for the desired sound then press the store b utton, the display will blink and the knob settings are stored in the preset number on the display. Note: the output level knob is not programmed and is for final volume adjusting, for best results this should be set at about 7 during programming. There are a total of 42 memory locations.
* In the PLAY mode the MP45 knobs work manually, the MIDI is disabled and a footpedal can be used to turn on or off the STAGES, BRITE, FX LOOP or GATE switches.
* The RECALL mode is for calling up stored presets, these may be accessed with the front panel UP or DOWN buttons, using a MIDI controller such as the ROLLS MP80, or a special foots witch can be used to go up or down. The presets are numbered as MIDI program changes 1 through 42 with change number 43 showing as a 0 in the display . The 0 means the knobs are activ e and the MP45 is in a play through mode on that preset. On all the other presets the knobs and sliders are inactive since they were programmed earlier. However the buttons are still active, even though the y come up as the y were prog rammed.
Remote control The MP45 accepts MIDI program change information. The it may be setup to listen on any MIDI channel or “on” for all channels or “OF” to disregard all MIDI data. The MP45 will phantom power the MP80 footpedal and uses pin 1 for ground and pin 3 as power. In order to use phantom power the MIDI cable must have all wires connected on the connectors. A special dual footswitch is available that will cycle through the program numbers in RECALL mode, or change the STAGES or FX LOOP switches in PLay mode.
Selecting a MIDI channel The ROLLS MP45 can receive data from any of the 16 MIDI channels. The channel is programmed by holding the STORE and UP buttons in at the same time the POWER switch is turned on, while in the LEARN mode. The number in the PROGRAM display is the current MIDI channel number. To change the MIDI channel press the UP or DOWN buttons for the desired channel then press the STORE button to save it, turn the MP45 off. The MIDI channel numbers go from 1 to 16 then to “on” meaning an y channel then to “OF” meaning no MIDI data is recognized. The MIDI channel will be set when the unit is turned on again.
Resetting the factory presets The original factory presets may be restored by the following procedure. In the LEARN mode hold in the UP and DOWN buttons while turning on the POWER. An “FP” will show for a moment in the display then the number “1”. The MP45 may now be reprogrammed or switched to another mode for use.
