MP26
MIDI PHANTOM
The MP26 converts 7-pin MIDI with phantom power to a 5-pin configuration, and vice-v ersa.
NOTE: NOT ALL MIDI CABLES CONNECT ALL 5 PINS. SOME ONLY CONNECT PINS 3,4, AND
5. MAKE SURE YOU’RE USING A 5-PIN MIDI CABLE.
The unit is wired as shown in Fig. 1. Although there is no standard for MIDI phantom power, many
devices supply the power do wn the outer pins (6,7 and 1,3).
If the MP26 is being used with any other RFX product, connect the PS27 to the DC
Jack, connect one 5-pin MIDI cable between the RFX unit and the “TO PEDAL”
side of the MP26, and the other 5-pin MIDI cable between the “OUT” side of the
MP26 to the MIDI IN of the unit being controlled.
If the MP26 is being used with other MIDI units that supply phantom power, and
you’re controlling an RFX product, make sure the circuit ground gets to the MIDI
pin 1, and the +12 volts gets on MIDI pin 3
Many other MIDI devices can be modified to supply po wer down the cable, but of
course RFX makes no warranty to an yone as to the applicability of this modification or any damage that might be done as a result thereof. We supply this note for
those adventurous people who may want to give it a try.
Connect pin 1 to circuit ground, and pin 3 to +9 - +15 VDC of the receiving unit.
