Roland Corporation CD-2E Quick Start

The CD-2e makes it easy to capture your performances and write them to an audio CD. In Section 1, we’ll show you how to use the CD-2e’s built-in microphone to record a performance to an SD memory card. Then, in Section 2, we’ll show you how to write your recorded performance onto a CD.
Let’s Record to an SD Memory Card

Connect the included power cord to the dedicated AC adaptor.
On the CD-2e’s rear panel, move the [POWER] switch to the “ON” position.
Insert the SD memory card into the card slot on the left side panel.
(An SD memory card is included in the CD-2e box.)
Firmly insert the card all the way.
When the CD-2e recognizes the card, the following screen is displayed:

* The shape of the power cord’s plug varies depending on the country.
Press the [ (Record)] button.

Press the [ (Play)] button.

The button’s light blinks red, indicating that the CD-2e is standing by for recording.
The CD-2e starts recording. Begin your performance.
Set the two switches on the left side.
Set the [MIC SELECT] switch to the “INT”

position.
Set the [MIC LEVEL] switch to the “MANUAL”

position.
While producing the sound that you’ll actually be recording, turn the [MIC] knob to adjust the input level.
Adjust the level so that the peak indicator located above the [MIC] knob lights briefly at the loudest moments of the performance or vocal you’ll be recording.

Press the [ (Stop)] button.
Turn off
The CD-2e stops recording.
Press the [ ] [ ] buttons to select the desired song.
Press the [ (Play)] [ (Stop)] buttons to start and stop playback.
* To record additional performances, repeat Steps 4–7.
Once you’ve finished recording, proceed to the other side of this sheet to learn how to write a CD.

Let’s Create a CD
Media to Prepare
Blank CD-R disc
Press the [MENU] button to access the menu screen, and choose “Write (SDCD)?”
Press the [MENU] button to access the menu screen.
As the screen instructs, insert the CD into the CD slot located on the right side panel.
Insert the CD with its label surface facing upward.
When you see this screen, press the [ENTER] button.
Use the [ ] [ ] buttons to choose “Write (SD CD)?”
Press the [ENTER] button to confirm your choice.
If you’re sure you want to proceed, press the [ENTER] button.
The CD-2e begins writing a CD. Please wait.
The disc will be ejected automatically when CD writing is completed.
* If you’re using the included SD memory card, the sample songs it contains will also be written onto the CD.
* You can also select the songs to be written. For details on how to do this, see page 79 in the CD-2e Owner’s Manual.
Now you have a CD of your performance!!
f you’re sure you want to proceed, press the [ENTER] button.
Insert the CD into the CD slot.
When the CD-2e recognizes the CD-R disc as an audio CD, the following screen is displayed:
When the FINALIZE screen appears, press the [ENTER] button.

“CD” appears on the left side of the screen.
Press the [ (Play)] [ (Stop)] buttons to start and stop playback.
When you see this screen, press the [EXIT] button to end the procedure.
