Roland Cloud User’s Guide
This guide explains how to use the sound files (*1) found in Roland Cloud on the JUNO-D series.
Read this guide along with the Reference Manual of JUNO-D series.

Use Roland Cloud Manager to download the sound files from Roland Cloud to your computer.

Importing the sound files by using Roland Cloud Manager
This explains how to use Roland Cloud Manager to download and import the sound files.
NOTE
¹ You must purchase a Lifetime Key for the data if you want to use
Roland Cloud Manager.
¹ Data that was downloaded with only a Roland Cloud
membership can’t be loaded into the JUNO-D series.

Installing the Roland Cloud Manager
1. On your computer, download Roland Cloud Manager.
Access the website listed below to download the appropriate installer for your computer.

2. Double-click the installer you downloaded to begin the
installation.
Proceed with the installation by following the directions shown onscreen.
When you see a message saying that the installation was successful, click the [Close] or [Finish].
3. Start the Roland Cloud Manager that you installed, and
register your account.
Follow the onscreen instructions to register.
Purchasing a lifetime key for the contents
You must purchase a Lifetime Key by following the steps below to use paid contents.
To use free contents, refer to “Downloading content files” (p. 2).
1. Launch Roland Cloud Manager.
2. Click “Hardware Instruments” on the menu tab.
A list of hardware group appears at the top of the screen.
3. On the hardware group tab, click “Synthesizers”.
A list of hardware appears on the left side of the screen.
4. Click the model name of the JUNO-D series that you’re
using.
The contents list appears.
5. Click the (Add to cart) icon for the contents you wish
to purchase.
This adds the contents to your cart.
6. Click the (Move to cart) button at the top
right-hand part of the screen.
The cart screen appears.

7. Check the contents onscreen, and click “Proceed to
checkout”.
A payment screen appears in your web browser. Proceed to payment, and close your web browser when you’re finished.
8. Return to the Roland Cloud Manager screen and click
“Accept” in the “Purchase Complete” dialog box to close the message.
9. Click the (Download) icon for the contents you wish
to download.
A dialog box for specifying the download destination folder appears.

Specify the folder to which you want to download the contents, and close the dialog box.
The content files are downloaded into the folder that you specified on your computer.
Downloading content files
1. Launch Roland Cloud Manager.
2. Click “Hardware Instruments” on the menu tab.
A list of hardware group appears at the top of the screen.
3. On the hardware group tab, click “Synthesizers”.
A list of hardware appears on the left side of the screen.
4. Click the model name of the JUNO-D series that you’re
using.
The contents list appears.
5. Click the (Download) icon for the contents you wish
to download.
A dialog box for specifying the download destination folder appears.
6. Specify the folder to which you want to download the
contents, and close the dialog box.
The content files are downloaded into the folder that you specified on your computer.
Saving the sound files to a USB flash drive
* If you’re using the USB flash drive for the first time, format it using
the JUNO-D. See the “Formatting a USB flash drive (FORMAT USB MEMORY)” in the “Reference Manual” (Roland website) for how to format a USB flash drive.
1. Prepare the sound file that you will add on the JUNO-D.
2. Connect the USB flash drive to your computer.
3. Save the file in the appropriate directory of your USB
flash drive.
Sound Pack (extension: .sdz): ROLAND/SOUND folder
Wave Expansion (extension: .exz): Root directory
USB flash drive folder architecture
Copy the Wave Expansion files (.exz) to the root directory.

Copy the Sound Pack files (.sdz) to the ROLAND/SOUND folder.
4. Disconnect the USB flash drive from your computer.

Adding the sounds to the JUNO-D series
Follow these steps to import or install the sounds you would like to add, according to their types.

Importing a Sound Pack
1. Connect the USB flash drive in which you saved the
sound file to the JUNO-D.
2. Press the [MENU] button.
The MENU screen appears.
3. Move the cursor to “UTILITY” and press the [ENTER]
button.
4. Move the cursor to “IMPORT TONE” and press the
[ENTER] button.
The IMPORT TONE screen appears.
8. Press the [ENTER] (NEXT) button.
The IMPORT TONE (Select Destination) screen appears.
This is a list of the user tones in the JUNO-D.
9. Check whether the user tones in the import destination
are selected with a checkmark.

NOTE
The user tone(s) selected as the import-destination are overwritten.

Press the [ENTER] (EXECUTE) button.
A confirmation message appears.
If you decide to cancel, press the [EXIT] button.
Selects (adds a checkmark to) or deselects (removes the checkmark from) the tone that’s indicated by the cursor.
Selects (adds a checkmark to) or deselects (removes the checkmark from) all of the tones.
5. Move the cursor to the .sdz file that you want to import,
and press the [ENTER] (NEXT) button.
A confirmation message appears (but only on the first import).
If you decide to cancel, press the [EXIT] button.
6. Move the cursor to “OK” and press the [ENTER] button.
The IMPORT TONE (Select Source) screen appears.
7. Deselect all of the tones you don’t want to import.

Selects (adds a checkmark to) or deselects (removes the checkmark from) the tone that’s indicated by the cursor.

Select the corresponding check boxes to include the User samples on import.

Move the cursor to “OK” and press the [ENTER] button.
The import is executed, and the display returns the UTILITY screen.

Installing a Wave Expansion
1. Save the tone data you downloaded (only the EXZ files)
to the root directory (the topmost level) of your USB flash drive (p. 2).
2. Turn off the JUNO-D, and connect the USB flash drive to
the USB MEMORY port.
3. Turn the power on while holding down the [ENTER]
button.
The EXPANSION screen appears.

If you have installed Wave Expansions, they appear on this screen.
4. Press the [
The tone data saved on the USB flash drive is shown.

Uninstalling a Wave Expansion
If there isn’t enough memory available, you can uninstall a Wave Expansion that’s already been installed to make room for new Wave Expansions.
1. Turn the power on while holding down the [ENTER]
button.
The EXPANSION screen appears.
2. Use the [
uninstall, and press the [Í] (UNINSTALL) button.
A confirmation message appears.
If you decide to cancel, press the [EXIT] button.

Selecting tones
Selecting a Wave Expansion tone
1. On the top screen, move the cursor to the tone name
of the part you want to change, and press the [ENTER] button.
The TONE LIST screen appears.

¹ When you press the [ENTER] button on the TONE LIST screen, you
can switch between tone category list view (by category) and tone bank list view (by bank).
¹ On the tone bank list screen, the installed Wave Expansions are
shown in tabs by title.
6. Press the [
The message “Install License? Are you sure?” is shown.
If you decide to cancel, press the [EXIT] button.
* When you select a file that’s not supported by this instrument or is
corrupted, the message “Incorrect File!” appears and the file can’t be installed.

7. Move the cursor to “OK” and press the [ENTER] button.
The message “Expansion install Are you sure?” is shown.
If you decide to cancel, press the [EXIT] button.
8. Move the cursor to “OK” and press the [ENTER] button.
Once the data is installed, the EXPANSION screen appears.
To install more tone data, repeat steps 4–8.
NOTE
Never turn off the power or remove the USB flash drives while the screen indicates “Processing..”.
9. Turn the power back on once the tone data has been
installed.

“EX***”.

User license
Sound Pack and Wave Expansion are associated with the user licenses of the user who downloaded them.
Sound Pack or Wave Expansion that has differing user licenses cannot be imported into the same JUNO-D.

If you want to import or install Sound Pack or Wave Expansion that has a different user license than what is already registered to this JUNO-D unit, you must initialize the user license by performing the procedure described in “Initializing the user license” (p. 5).

4. Use the [
] [Ë] buttons to select the item, and use the

value dial to select/clear the check boxes so that only the “Remove License” check box is selected.
* The “Remove License” check box is not displayed if a Sound Pack or
Wave Expansion has not been imported/installed.
* If you execute this with other check boxes besides “Remove
License” selected as well, the data corresponding to each selected item is erased. See “Returning to the factory settings (Factory Reset)” in the “Reference Manual” (Roland website) for details.
5. Press the [ENTER] (EXECUTE) button.
A confirmation message appears.
If you decide to cancel, press the [EXIT] button.
6. To execute, move the cursor to “OK” and press the
[ENTER] button.
The display indicates “Completed. Turn off the power”.
Initialize
A
Initializing the user license
If you’ve initialized the user license, you’ll be able to import and install Sound Pack and Wave Expansion that you downloaded using a new user license.
NOTE
¹ If you initialize the user license, installed Wave Expansion are
deleted.
¹ Never turn off the power or disconnect the USB flash drive during a
process, such as while the “Processing...” display is shown.
1. Press the [MENU] button.
The MENU screen appears.
2. Move the cursor to “UTILITY” and press the [ENTER]
button.
3. Move the cursor to “FACTORY RESET” and press the
[ENTER] button.
The FACTORY RESET screen appears.
7. Turn the power of the JUNO-D off and then on again.
The user license is initialized.

Error message
An error message may be shown if you have operated this unit incorrectly, or if something was not processed correctly based on how you operated this instrument. Follow the instructions shown by the error message to correct the problem.

This appears if the USB flash drive does not contain a
Check that the sound file is correctly saved, and that the file extension is “.exz”.
This appears if the selected file is not compatible with the JUNO-D series, or if the file is damaged.
Check the models that are listed as compatible for the file you downloaded, and try downloading again.
This appears if the selected file is associated with a different user license.
To install, you must either obtain a sound file that has the same user license as the currently-installed sound file, or delete (initialize) the user license.
This appears if there is insufficient free space for installation. To install, you must uninstall a currently-installed Wave Expansions to create free space. See the “Uninstalling a Wave Expansion” (p. 4) for how to uninstall a Wave Expansion.
This appears if the selected file is already installed. There is no need to reinstall.
