INTENDED USE
The Retroback Wheelchair Back Support (“Retroback”) is a wheelchair back product designed to fit over the wheelchair sling back upholstery on a range of wheelchair sizes. (See the Sizing Table included in this manual.) The Retroback is composed of a foam pad, a cover, and a steel clip that hooks to a wheelchair sling back. The Retroback can be used with folding or fixed frame wheelchairs.
The Retroback is not a replacement for the original manufacturer’s wheelchair sling back. It is intended to be an add-on product to sling-back wheelchairs that rests between the user and the sling back to promote a more upright posture resulting in improved positioning of the pelvis and trunk. The Retroback is intended to improve the user's comfort and basic positioning needs. It is designed to be easily attached and removed from a wheelchair without tools or hardware. It is not intended to provide lumbar or lateral support and is not intended to be used with a solid back.
PRECAUTIONS
• Before using the Retroback, ROHO, Inc. recommends a clinician evaluate the need for anti-tipping devices. As with any addition to your wheelchair, the Retroback may affect the stability of the wheelchair.
DO NOT use the Retroback as a replacement for the original manufacturer’s wheelchair sling back.
• Remove the Retroback from the wheelchair prior to folding the wheelchair.
• The Retroback must be assembled correctly and attached to the wheelchair as described in this manual.
• The Retroback should be sized correctly to the wheelchair and will not fit every wheelchair. The Retroback decreases the seat depth. Refer to the Sizing Table in this manual and consult with a clinician or supplier providing the equipment.
DO NOT use the Retroback to lift the wheelchair.
• The Retroback maximum user weight limit is 300 lbs. (136 kg).
• The Retroback has not been tested for use in a motor vehicle. Always have the user transfer to an approved vehicle seat.
• Protect the Retroback from blunt force shocks that may cause damage and/or breakage.
• Altering the Retroback will void the warranty.
DO NOT hang personal items from the back clip handle.
