The TAI16AEA 16-Channel Analogue Input Termination Card provides an interface between the analogue input circuits of a SC300E chassis and the field devices they are monitoring. The TAI16AEA provides:
Screw terminals for the field wiring
Fuse protection for the field loops
Overvoltage protection and transient suppression.
This document is intended to provide a general understanding of the function of the sufficient

The field input circuit shown in Figure 2-3 is the absolute minimum required for the safe connection of analogue inputs to the module.
The TAI16AEA is recommended for use with the MAI32*AD range of 32-Channel Analogue Input modules.

THEORY OF OPERATION
The analogue input termination card provides a convenient and safe means of connect 16 field input channels to an analogue input module in the SC300E chassis. As shown in Figure 2-3 each channel (a pair of lines) is connected via a 63mA fuse to the analogue input module, field
which may be configured for either voltage or current monitoring inputs. Power for the
loop circuits is supplied from an independent external source.

Transient suppression
Each termination card circuit also embodies two methods of transient suppression.
A transient suppressor diode is fitted across each input to the analogue input module in the SC300E chassis. The diode provides a discharge path for transient energy pulses that may appear on the analogue input line following lightning strikes etc.

Servicing operations will not normally extend beyond the replacement of blown fuses.

Before replacing a blown fuse, ascertain the cause of failure, and take the appropriate remedial action.
